I was raped about 11 to 12 years ago. I have not had any peace from this whole issue. I have never had an out break in my Vaginal area , but I use to have the group of sores in my inner thigh and on my nose. I have had several skin test and depending on the doctor and day of the week I have been told that the bumps were Folliculitis and that skin cream would do just fine in treating this issue. Now today I was told I have Herpes type 2 . What do I do? what do I say???? I need answers and on top of it all what do I tell my partner ? because this issue is located on my thigh will a bandage do the job?
I have this problem too and am pretty sure it is some kind of herpes but it is on my thigh. I have had about 5 outbreaks over 30 years. Cluster of sores where the skin is quite puffy and red around it. Lasts about a week. I probably should see if they can run a test on it.
:'(
I have had a very difficult year, having been diagnosed with uterine cancer, having the operation for that, then having a total ankle replacement, then having three sessions of radiation therapy, and now having an outbreak of a virus that is not shingles, but is viral in nature, as it follows the nerve along the outer right leg, and the symptoms seem to be similar to other people's experience of chills fever, aches and muscle weakness. At one point the pain in my back was so extreme that I couldn't stand upright. I finally called an ambulance and was taken to the hospital where they gave me all kinds of blood tests, and X-rays. The X-rays showed that I had spinal spinosis, which needs to be investigated as soon as I get over this virus. My question is how long does the rash or outbreak last, can it reoccur , and can I take a vaccine lessen or avoid another episode? Thank you for any advice.
The patch on your leg is more than likely gladiator herpes which is the same as Herpes I also called Herpes Simplex. Just keep it covered until the blisters heal.
The nose could be the same type. It is not Herpes II as that can only be in the vaginal area.
How long have you had the virus for? Have you had your antibodies tested (blood test)?
I got Herpes Virus Type 1 as a baby on the whole lower half of my body and now still occasionally get large lesions on my bum cheeks or thighs. Sometimes a really bubbly, blistery one as big as the size of my palm. I've also been to GP's who just have no idea who argue with me that it couldn't possibly be Herpes because it's so beyond 'text book'.
That said, I also sometimes get what I know has that herpes feeling but there's hardly a sore, maybe just the tiniest little thing that you wouldn't be able to tell from a scratch or a pimple. But, I can tell it's herpes because it has that feeling about it.. that funny shooting tingling feeling that goes down the nerve (I don't know how else to describe it)
My experience with Lysine is that it's really helpful to boost your immune response. I'd say it's entirely possible that with a stronger immune system your skin is responding better and not having as sever outbreaks now. Well done!!
Hi, I've had Herpes type 1 on my bum and thighs all my life (got it as a baby -and still get palm sized lesions on my thighs occasionally). My suggestion would be to just wear shorts to bed and abstain from sex while you have a sore. If it was on my inner thigh, I wouldn't want to have sex anyway (even with a bandage) because it would hurt with the rubbing!) I've never had a problem telling partners when in a relationship. Well, I've always found it emotional and scary but they've never been phased by it at all. A bandage over the sore will protect them but to be sure I'd just abstain for the week or so till it goes away.

Hope that helps
Unfortunately this is not correct. Both types can be anywhere.
I felt a rash in 2008 that hurt like hell!!! Started out as a weird looking "sore", and then got bigger--but additional sores were not developing; shingles diagnoses due to the outer thigh area being the scene of incident. No biggie... Several months later, I developed the same rash, only hurting more, with more blisters, and following a different pattern of my thigh. I went to a doctor again and he said, 'lucky to have this "type" of HSV2, than the other".... first, I hyper-ventilated just hearing the word "herpes"; then-"contraction"; 'burn-it-off'. WTF?!?! How will I ever be in a relationship again? Whom will want to be with me? I've always had normal PAP smears. But why? I still get outbreaks, and as everyone knows within this thread-it sucks!! Anyone who can offer advice on how to approach a new partner with my infection, or confidence... thank you
Me too, all my outbreaks are on my left buttock or left thigh, never on the genitals!
My whole left leg is broken out with sores that are very painful, itchy and look like the pictures I have seen on the internet along with extreme back pain. I was STD tested and teh only thing tht came back positive was HSV-1 was High. No other STD resulsts were positive (Sypholis, AIDS, herpes 2). I worry about having Aids as soem of the pictures on the internet look like they may look like them as well but the tests say i donot have AIDS. Is anybody else experiencing thses tyes of sores, itcing, blisters and soem of them become darkend over a period of time on thier legs? Is this really only HSV-1 and not somehting more serious? if yes, what are you doing to control it and ease the pain. I would welcome your reply.
I had not noticed these sores until into my early 30s when after taking a over the road trucking job I had become suppicous of the places I visited, truck stops, rest stops, and public facialities. I scheduled an apointment with my family doctor and he said he could not see nothing on me but was sure it was HV2. He had looked at my neck, sholders, inter legs, my lower ancles and the famly jouls. Then he offered medication. I did not want it and so he did another skin abration test and then released me. Two weeks later I had all kinds of herpies simptoms. I now believe it is an industry marker for deasse concrol, however it was desighned for the health of the population not the health of the indivual. The carzy thing is this deaseas has been around for ever, and little is done in the field to find the cure. I don't think they won't one.. Tell another, and start the Revolution. If they find a cure it will change history, for sure.. .
I get a breakout on my upper thigh, below my butt, once a year. It always occurs on my left side. Doctors have mistaken it for shingles, but it doesn't occur along a nerve pathway. The welts wrap around my upper thigh and the glands along the left side of my pelvis are swollen and extremely tender. My body aches from upper thigh to lower back. No genital legions whatsoever..... I know that it is a herpes outbrake as I was diagnosed 10 years ago with genital herpes but then never once had another genital outbreak...only the upper leg.
