Hello! I need advice, because something strange is happening to me. For the past two months I am smelling smoke all the time. I keep on asking people around me if they smell it too, but the answer is no. I smell it everywhere/ in gym, in office, at home… Does anyone have any advice what this might be?

Smelling smoke when it isn't present is a long term symptom of COVID. I too have this issue. I take Zinc everyday. If I I miss it then the issue comes back. Hope this helps.

I had Covid in January. I was fully recovered after 8 days except that I started constantly smelling smoke when there was none present. No one in my household smokes. I used neti pot which helped a little, but the smell returns. It is now 2 months later, and the phantom smoke smell persists. I have read several pages of the responses to this question, and believe a possible answer lies in some of the responses from a few years ago indicating GERD and coffee as possible causes. I think this might actually be the answer I have been looking for, as I am experiencing the phantosmia smoke smell right now, after drinking coffee this morning and experiencing acid reflux following lunch. I am going to try using Pepcid to see if it makes the smell go away, since the smell tends to show up after a meal. I have been searching the web for 2 months for "phantom smoke smell after Covid" with no luck finding any plausible answer to my problem until today. I wanted to create a recent response including keywords Covid phantom smoke smell to hopefully help others having this problem following a Coronavirus infection.
