Hello! I need advice, because something strange is happening to me. For the past two months I am smelling smoke all the time. I keep on asking people around me if they smell it too, but the answer is no. I smell it everywhere/ in gym, in office, at home… Does anyone have any advice what this might be?

I had a bad cold and it started to get better but it was still irritated in my sinuses. I started smelling smoke I Asking everyone if they smelled it and they said no And everywhere I went I smelled smoke it was very strong and almost burn my eyes. So I use the Netty pot and try to get rid of it that seem to make it worse So I just left alone for a while and it seem to get better then I went to my ear nose and throat doctor and the day I went to see year I didn't smell any more smoke so I assume the inflammation in my sinuses had reduced enough to get rid of the smoke smell. But for my drainage that I have all year she gave me Flonase and another nasal spray called Ipratropium bromide. So far it hasn't come back so I guess it was just from swollen sinuses. Even a small amount of inflammation can cause the smoke smell In some people
Olfactory hallucination Could be from sinus infections, migraines, but go to doctor to have proper tests done, for piece of mind.
Did you ever find a cure I have it now with sinus stuffed up
I never found a cure. It did go away temporarily with an anribiotic given by a doctor. It comes back for me.
I've been smelling smoke but I carnt smell it outside only from my nose I'm not sure what it could be I had a turmour Remove 10 year ago.
I have had the same issues. Doctor sent me for an MRI , which I had yesterday. I suffer from sinusitis. Am hoping that is all it is. Will try to post results once I receive
I have had 3 mri's. Took antibiotic twice but it keeps coming back.
I started same symptoms a little more than one month ago. I too take fish supplements and Vit C. You posted over a year ago...does the problem persist?
Lovely. I also smell smoke ALL the time and no one is around me. This has been going on for a while and has been getting worse over time. I'm going in for a physical and will bring it up. I'm sure this will lead to an MRI like others have mentioned. After doing some research this seems to be a phantom smell and can be serious.
I've had this for the last 8 months and it is driving me MAD! I've asked other folk if they can smell it, but they can't! All I can smell is a smokey sour smell mixed with dusty and when I'm sitting I can always smell dirty warm smells too. It's so peculiar and annoying at the same time. Since reading the symptoms, I'm going to go to the doctors asap
Could be oasis contact lenses
Don't assume the worst. Consult your ENT. I've been taking Flonase and Singuliar for two months and smelled smoke all the time. I stopped taking the Flonase and Singulair and the odor went away. The function of the cilia probably was being affected by the chemical.
well a year later I think what you say is my problem... I've been smelling smoke out of no where for about a month now and again ask people all the time do they smell smoke and say no. It is really bad when I'm sitting in my chair at home. I am thinking that your clogged sinuses may be my problem and it's very dry in my home. I would love to know what you used for your nose to help clear this up.
Woodsmoke from fireplaces or woodstoves nearby.
No none of that. It has to do with sinus infections not clearing all the way. Also can be from damage to the olfactory nerve. Some are told its phantosmia. It is not
