I know I’m a year too late, but warm salt water a few times a day with Motrin helps a lot. Maybe start chewing on gum, or eat lollipops to try and keep from irritating your mouth. I hope all is well.

Your answer seems to be the only straightforward one on here. You’ve answered my question thoroughly.

Its not just the Adderall. Its speed period. I used to experience it when I was young and would have binder partys where everyone is doing blow or ice. Then after not eating for a couple days and Finally came down I would try and eat. Evetytime the roof of my mouth, sometimes glands under my tongue and the insides of my cheeks. Its horrible when u finally get an appetite and your SO hungry but your mouth won't let you. Cold drinks will cause it as well. I didnt notice this effect again until adulthood on Adderall. Even one when I'm still getting used to the side effects will turn me into a insomniac with NO appetite. So its has to occur because of something you do as a result of using narcotic stimulants

I've been on aderol since 09 and never had a problem with cancer sores until 2020. I have had cancer sores quite often. Had them scraped for sti testing several times over it because doc didn't have any other explanation for me getting them. I have been paying attention for the last 8 months and I noticed almost every single month its distributed by a different manufacturer. The ones that begin desolving in mouth are the ones that cause canker sores and stomach ulcers for me. If the have a slightly harder consistency its no bother. I think they are trying to make things cheaply now and the new ingredients are causing symptoms. I had same 20 mg tablets for 10 years with no problems what's so ever. I lived in 3 different states and another country with no problems or changes in medications. I moved to IL right before covid and they consistently change manufactures. I wonder if it's a covid thing or an illinois thing. Idk, but I eat with every dosage, I drink 2, 64oz canteens of water and use dry mouth candies. I have quit taking them all together on multiple occasions to heal. The problem is I'm useless with out them. I wish there was a way to get specific med for manufacture instead of off brands. I'm with the VA my doc has no pull, but private doctors might. For others who may have better options.

You could try a prescription of Valium or Lorazepam (both safe, doctor and ER approved methods to treat stimulant overdose symptoms and hallucinogen panic cases) Benzodiazepines can be used in varied doses to either decrease anxious side effects of stimulant medication (low doses) and when taken at higher doses, Lorazepam and Diazepam (Valium) can mute the effects of Adderall.

I studied psychopharmacology and have my bachelor’s in psychology and do research and read medical and psych studies for fun. I am prescribed both—daily Vyvanse and an Adderall booster and Valium as needed. I rarely use the Valium, as it’s for anxiety and panic attacks/to assist sleep, but when I have bad side effects it helps.

You should also take vitamin B6 and B12 and make sure you’re eating fresh fruit. Matcha tea will also soothe any mouth pain and helps heal the mouth. You can swish it inside the mouth—it really helps for even dental issues: I was waiting for a root canal and it was so bad I went to the ER due to pain but drinking matcha made it bearable along with prescription ibuprofen.

Drink water, avoid acids and sugars, use mouthwash as well: Pain is caused by bacteria affecting the sore parts. The idea is heal it and keep the area clean. Brush your teeth, sleep, try to remain calm. Adderall mouth stuff goes away after sleep usually. I am wondering if the generic brand has some contaminant. The brand name doesn’t cause mouth issues to the degree that generic does. You could also try Vyvanse instead.

YES! Thank you for stating the year: it was rather recent, but generic has been doing mouth things since 2012. However since Covid and the supply chain shortages, the generics became totally unpredictable and sometimes strong and other times not as strong. It could be improper dosing amounts of each salt and/or contaminants. Brand does as well sometimes: Before Covid it was all uniform and the medication was predictable but now only the 30s seem to have quality control. You can see the difference in the salt shape in generic—they’re not perfectly round spheres anymore but more lumpy. I would recommend trying Vyvanse, as it is smooth and not uncomfortable

Happens to me as well. I have diabetes as well. I basically have to make sure to take extra biotin(game changer for me), (which kills the bad bacteria in your mouth) to suppliment the adderal thet is drying your mouth allowing bacteria to multiply the way it was explained(its what i do this isnt medical advice blah blah)

I take a biotin pill and rinse with mouthwash that is alchohol free because ive heard from others if yiu can get a reoccuring yeast infection, the alchohol would exacerbate it. Same with sugar and bread.

I get really bad sores in my cheeks and occasional sore tongue & gums from taking Adderall as well. I take a relatively low dose, 10-20mg 1-2 times a day, and it happens every time, whether I take the immediate release or extended release formulations. I’ve discussed this with my psychiatrist and my neurologist, and they both agree this is likely caused by a tic, a common side effect from the AMPh molecule. The “tic” is presenting as sucking my cheeks and rubbing my tongue across my teeth & gums, with no awareness that I’m doing it. I tried switching to a Methylphenidate formulation, which did reduce (not completely eliminated) the mouth issues, but it didn’t do much for my ADHD symptoms. I always drink plenty of water (w/Propel electrolytes powder to boost the hydration), but that doesn’t improve the issue. I have found that sucking on Biotene lozenges or Biotene gum helps a little, but certainly not enough. But the Biotene mouth spray or gel didn’t help at all. I was also told to take a calcium supplement, but I’ve still not noticed much difference. I realize these posts have been going on for a long time, but I’d love to keep hearing what helps for others. Thx!

Happens to me too. Feels like literally everything in your mouth hurts. Lips, gums, teeth, tongue even jaw muscles get real tight and sore. I have a very similar (pretty much exact same) reaction to mdma as well, no matter how i ingest it. Its never been so bad i couldnt eat but it def makes it less enjoyable for sure

Adderall and other stimulant medications, like MDMA (3,4-Methylenedioxymethamphetamine, commonly known as "ecstasy" or "molly"), can have side effects that impact the mouth and jaw. Here are a few potential explanations for the symptoms you're describing:

  1. Bruxism and Jaw Clenching: Both Adderall and MDMA can cause bruxism, which is grinding, gnashing, or clenching your teeth. This can result in jaw pain, headaches, and damage to teeth. It's also common for individuals to clench their jaws while on these stimulants, leading to muscle soreness.

  2. Dry Mouth (Xerostomia): Stimulant medications can reduce saliva production, leading to a dry mouth. Saliva plays an essential role in maintaining oral health, so a reduction in saliva can increase the risk of cavities, gum disease, and other oral health issues.

  3. Increased Acid Production: Some people might experience an increase in stomach acid when using these drugs, which could lead to acid reflux. If the acid reaches the mouth, it could cause irritation of the oral tissues.

  4. Oral Hygiene and Behavior Changes: Being on stimulant medications can lead some people to neglect oral hygiene, consume sugary drinks or snacks, or engage in repetitive behaviors that could harm the mouth.

  5. Other Factors: Every individual reacts differently to medications, so there may be other less common reasons for the symptoms you're experiencing.

If you're experiencing persistent or severe symptoms, you should:

  • See a Dentist: Regular dental check-ups can help address any oral health issues resulting from medication side effects.

  • Practice Good Oral Hygiene: Brushing and flossing regularly and using mouthwash can help mitigate some of the oral side effects of medications.

  • Stay Hydrated: Drinking water throughout the day can help with dry mouth symptoms.
