I get these occasionally too. Mine don't seem to be as bad as others here, but are still inconvenient and painful. I've found that nothing really works to eliminate them, just to control them. For those suggesting accutane, not a good idea. I took a long course of the accutane treatment in high school. Ultimately, zits that would have gone away when I graduated (or when my body chemistry changed during that period of late puberty)  went away a few years before as a result of the accutane. But there were two huge issues. 1) the accutane, in the long run did nothing to deal with these painful butt pimples, only the ones on my face. 2) accutane left me with severe, ongoing, and incurable stomach problems. They were recently sued in a class action over this. The entire time on the course, they are constantly checking for liver issues, but the pill, in the end, causes digestion problems. Accutane is not worth it. If you are young and dealing with acne...It sucks, but bear with it- it gets better if you let nature take its course. If you are older and dealing with any kind of acne, my best suggestion is to stop using acne designed medications. They make things worse and make managing your skin so much more time consuming and difficult. The best cure is men's shaving cream and bar soap. It sounds stupid and too simple to work, but it really does. I've only ever had minor acne on my face (and a few of these butt ones too). To rectify it, I would sit with shaving cream all over my face (to draw the oil out of my pores) for about ten minutes before I shower. Then, while in the shower, I use bar soap on my face. This probably doesn't work for everyone, but for me- it's gold. The few red marks or zits on my face reduced in redness and swelling, and were gone in a matter of a few days. Also, it didn't leave my skin dry, sensitive to sunlight, itchy or red. Also, it doesn't cost an arm and a leg to use this treatment. Hope this helps. (I wouldn't recommend the shaving cream for the butt zits, but if someone wants to try it, let us know how it works out).

This problem has persisted for me for a couple of years now. I do think it is in the interior of the skin rather than the exterior. I also have a theory for why it happens. I'm 6' 3" and oftentimes chairs are not designed for my height. So that means my knees are elevated above my buttocks while sitting, which means the weight of my body is more heavily distributed on my buttocks area. In class or at work (I recently graduated) I can sit in a chair for sometimes hours without reprieve. My "pimples" I believe are in-grown hairs. And what exacerbates them is sitting for a long time or sitting on a hard surface, and especially both.

I'm very skeptical of pharmaceuticals, so I haven't tried any ointments or antibiotics. But what I do use is lotion every morning on my buttocks. It helps immensely. I also don't allow myself to sit continuously for thirty minutes. Taking a two minute break to get coffee or water every thirty minutes helps me to relieve the pressure. And I'm lucky to have a chair that changes to fit my height. So my thighs take some of the pressure, as well. Having a plushy chair helps, too. If it's wooden or metal, I use a pillow.

And as with any skin blemish, exfoliating helps. I use a washcloth (a new one every two to three days) with Dove soap and with warm water and gently rub the area in circular motions. It seems that the buttocks is prone to these pimples because it's both a high contact area from sitting, and it's "where the sun don't shine." So tanning seems like a good idea, too.

I had one recently 3/21/13. It felt like I grew a golf ball in a few days. This thing hurt really bad. I don't if it was a pimple, or staph. I just know it hurt, it was red, it grew bigger than a golf ball, I didn't see a head til day three, it was on the top right inner butt cheek. My wife wanted to pop it day one but I didn't let her because of the pain. I tried putting a warm rag on day 2 to see if it would help. I really don't think it worked, maybe a little. My wife says she started to see a little head. The pain was still there. On day 3, I couldn't sit or even stand, it was painful. I got fed up with the pain and saw on some website to sit in a tub with warm water. So I sat in tub of hot warm til it get cold...I would say an hour or so. I just sat there reading people's advise on my iPod. I decided to push on the golf ball since there was a head. Not even pushing hard I almost cried but I felt a pop. It still hurt. I got out of the tub and my wife says there was no head. So I think the hot water helped a lot but it still hurts and the golf ball was still there. So I got some tissue and put on triple ointment on the hole and placed a bandaid. I think any ointment will work. They all have the same things. I woke with very little pain, no golf ball, it's as big as a pea, but no pain. It's a little sensitive but nothing like before. I will keep doing this til it's gone. I think I got it because I went to the gym and I wore underwears, shorts, and jogging pants. Instead of going home to shower, I went to the vitamin store, so my butt was not breathing. I will never do that again.

Pimples on the buttox are a result of sitting on dirty toilet seats. The dirt and bacteria on the seat are transmitted to the buttox and cause infection(pimples). To avoid this problem I recommend "nesting" or lining the seat with toilet paper, its simple and effective.

Try using diaper rash ointment. It protects the area from rubbing and moisture allowing it to heal faster. It is also soothing. I prefer Boudreaux's butt cream.

I know it's not nice to think about but try looking into type 2 diabetes. Try minimizing sugars and carbs in your diet. These "deep" pimples i was once plagued with too. See a doctor, it gets better especially if you catch it early :)

Cystic acne or abscess! Iodine keeps them away, good hygiene , not sitting for public restrooms, antibacterial soap , daily showers. Getting them cut out and antibiotics will get rid of them and the iodine and hood hygiene will keep them away
