I've had my IUD for over a year and my periods are lasting 2 weeks and have sweet cravings all the time. Don't know if I should call my doctor about it? Also can't feel my strings, getting a little worried.

I just had the IUD put in on the 6th of this month. I had it put in during surgery, after a d&c (had to remove the uterus lining because of precancer cells). The first few days I could feel it all the time which was really bothersome. When I went for my post-op appointment my Dr checked placement and said everything looked fine. 4 days after my appointment I started my period - first period since March (I have PCOS) and I'm still bleeding... today is day #12. I'm bleeding just as heavy as day one and my cramps are terrible, and my back hurts almost all the time. And, like you, I've craved sweets the whole time. I've literally put on 10lbs since having this IUD put in. I called my Dr and she said that it may take a bit for my body to adjust to the IUD...BUT if I were you, I'd definitely make an appointment to see your Dr. If you're worried about not being able to feel them, your best bet is to be checked for placement. I was told that placement needs to be checked every 6 months to a yr anyway. Better safe than sorry.

I wish I never got this IUD put in. I have had it for a little over a year and a half. After it was first put in my periods were every other month. Then it would stop for a few days and I would spot here and there. But now for the past few months my periods are lasting longer and heavier. I am on it now and today is my 23rd day and it's heavy. I am so irritated & miserable. Afraid to go out in public for fear I might have an accident. I'm 50 years old and still having menopausal symptoms. I'm a complete mess!

I'm having mine out after 5 years on Friday. It's had it's pro's and cons, my periods have been slightly more regular and lighter but they last longer. Latest one is 9 days!! I have gained a bit of weight since having it and I get bad skin outbreaks when my period is due. I also get more noticeable PMS. Will see if any of this improves when it's out! GB .

My periods are STILL heavy and the same amount of time. (3-4days) it never lightened up and I’m going on 4years with it in. I has no cramps the first 3-1/2 Years, which was a plus before they were pretty bad. But now they are exactly like they were. My GYN said it’s in place so idk why it didn’t work for me. I guess I’m just in that small percentage that still has heavy periods.
