i have been having my period for two weeks now it stops for two days and i a peroid again. i don't like this part i guess because it almost time for the iud to be removed
Hi! You need to stick you'r finger in to you'r privet place and you should feel the string. If you feel it then you good. :) Good luck.
Goodness lady, you made me laugh with your last sentance!
This response is so good. I am 48 and had two of the copper para iuds. The first one lasted for thirteen years. The second never gave me a problem - I just started having a nonstop period. It lasted three months. After a terrible experience of taking a progesterone for two weeks my periods finally stopped - my sanity almost too :). My midwife wanted to explore an ablation or even a partial hysterectomy to prevent the heavy bleeding again. I was fully prepared to have the ablation until another doctor in the group suggested that I try the mirena as an alternative. I have the copper iud removed and the mirena put in. It was uncomfortable, but not terrible. The measuring of the uterus was the most uncomfortable part. I had light bleeding for a day. It was put in after I had finished my period. This seemed to work out well. No problems at all, lasted a month and started my period. Very, very light - but duration is long. I am waiting for it to regulate itself. So far, so good.
i had my copper IUD inserted last november, since then i never stopped bleeding/spotting.im on my 4th month with IUD and still bleeding.whats wrong wt me?
I'm having the same issue! did you have yours removed in the end?
Hi JMo,
If I may ask how old are you and do you have children? I only ask as they usually do not do a hysterectomy if you don't have children, I know as I had the exact same problem as you except I had the BEST gyno in the world that understood and sympathized, he understood that I did not have a quality of life anymore. When I got pregnant with my daughter everyone said that after having her everything would fix itself and my periods and pain would be less - HA yeah right, they went worse and they only got worse and the months went along after having her - so much so that I was changing my pad every 1/2 hour and in the ER for pain control (it was that bad).
I've had the Mirena 2 different times, 1 in the office and it lasted days from the pain and he said that I needed to go to the hospital to get it inserted, had that done and it lasted not even a week and 1/2 again from the pain - it didn't work for my body and it doesn't sound like it's working for yours either. After having my daughter I got my tubes tied as we were done with children and I wanted him aware of that so that I wouldn't have any issues with getting anything done with my periods. Anyways, not even a year later I was back seeing him and I talked about an ablation and he said no cuz it wasn't a permanent solution for heavy periods, your heavy periods will come back and if your gyno is good they will tell you that - I believe him. He said the ONLY permanent solution was a hysterectomy, I said cuz of my age, only 38 I wasn't ready for HRT and he said as long as nothing wrong with ovaries I wouldn't need it. Exploratory surgeries had been done a few times with never any answers. SO with the hysterectomy that went VERY WELL and I have never felt better and enjoyed life better these days, it is so nice to not bleed at all, with my follow-up app't he said that every part he took out something was wrong with them. I asked if that was normal for it not to show up with exploratories and he said yes.
Long story short, don't do anything but the hysterectomy if it's an option for you. I don't want your heavy and painful periods to come back at all for you - they suck the life right out of us and it's not enjoyable at all - enjoy what you have left blood free and pain free from that affliction at least.
Good luck and hope this helps
September will be a year since the insertion. The pain has stopped, I have lighter periods, but it lasts at least two weeks. At one point my cycle was only lasting a day, but in the last two months have been two weeks. Should I be concerned?
I got my Iud in September. I got it when i was not on my menstration cycle and i toughed it out and bought it and had it put in. the first 2-3 was just the normal light brown discharge and including in these weeks i was on my period. Now it is october and my periods are SUPER light but last for like 2 weeks maybe a bit more. im not sure what this means but its getting annoying because im trying to have sex with my boyfriend and its getting making it hard for us.
I have had my IUD in since November 2011 and I am currently experiencing a 2 week long period with no sings of letting up. I am very frustrated and I feel like I have been on an emotional rollercoaster. My periods have seem to be all over the place. I
