Wow this thread is opposite of everything you hear about the stuff from fellow smokers, I am surprised to actually see your common experiences.

In all my years of smoking, I have never had any physiological problems with marjiuanna, withdrawal or otherwise. Until now, that is. Within the past year or so, I can't smoke much of it at all without getting really sick in the morning (vomiting and diarrhea), and feel almost like a drinking hangover- dizzy, nauseos, etc. Years of the stuff without a problem, then it just started creeping up on me lately.

The first few times it happened I was just thinking maybe food poisoning, maybe a stomach flu, maybe I just ate too much etc... but at some point coincidence becomes pattern. And on a deeper level I KNOW it's weed-related, when even mere thoughts of the previous day's J, or seeing my B is enough to send me reaching for the trashcan I have to keep nearby.

This stuff has always treated me well, and maybe it's my own fault or my abuse of it, but whatever the reason I now have to throw in the towel. Because it used to be that was a great thing about smoking- you didn't have to worry about if you smoked to much (IE vs alcohol), no hangovers. Now, the worst hangovers.

I'm a 25 year old male, and I've been smoking weed for the past 10 years pretty much non-stop. Sure there were a few months here and there where I'd go away or quit for a while, but for the most part I'd toke. In the past few years, that consumption has gone up. It has always treated me well and never incapacitated me seriously in any way.

Until about two years ago, when every morning I'd wake up with extreme abdominal pain and have diarrhea a minimum of 4 to a maximum of maybe 12 times before it would taper off in the afternoon. This was literally every day. I started my research to find a cure, and only had limited success with things like immodium and Pepto bismol, culminating in a visit to the emergency room where I was offhandedly diagnosed (after a finger in the ass) with IBS and given a referral to a specialist. But wait! There was one cure- if I smoked weed I would feel instantly better. My stomache would calm down, the diarrhea would go away and I could go on with life.

Weed wasn't my first thought as a culprit, if anything I initially considered it a wonder cure. As I read on however, I came across much literature on the GI nervous system and how it is chock full of cannabinoid receptors- could the weed be related? I had the good fortune of bringing the idea up with my brother (another doughty smoker who I don't often see for distance reasons) and he said that he had the same thing, and that he thought it was the weed.

With almost 2 months to go before my specialist appointment, I decided at last to try taking away the weed to see what would happen. It was bad for the first few days, but within less than 2 weeks my stomache was FINE. Literally, after all that, and the worry that I might live with IBS for life, it was fine! It was the weed! It truly is the cause of, and the answer to, so many of life's problems.

It should be noted that I stayed off weed for almost 6months. After that I started slowly smoking again, with no trouble. Over the past couple months I've regressed into my chronic smoking mode and the troubles with my gut are starting to reoccur. I guess if there was every any question, that answers it.

Time to quit again, for the meantime.

Yeah, there is alot of myth about M.J. not having any physiological effects. Maybe not everyone, but for some chronic users, it will take a toll on your G.I. system.

I'm not saying that the relaxation of the digestive tract caused by MJ is not the culprit here but think about this. Unless you are growing it yourself you really cannot be sure what kind of toxins are in purchased product. Some growers use chemical fertilizers and pesticides that are considered safe because they are tested for ingestion not inhalation. I had a problem like this while smoking a particular source. But, when i switched it went away. As for the pple that are having the problems after quitting this is probably not the case.

I have smoked weed for some 35 years, and can tell you that I have frequent diarrhea when Im smoking daily, almost like I have IBS, mostly after I eat. I have quit several times and within about a week I get constipated to the point of needing to take stool softners. I think the weed makes us more nervous than we realize when were stoned all of the time. and thats what causes our stomach problems. let me know what you all think.

Um yea..maybe you should stop snorting coke. Not eating from 9am to 2am, thats a little drastic. Either you are lying or you are doing other drugs at the same time
Reply
That doesn't seem drastic to me at all. I've gone almost three days without getting hungry and forcing myself to eat (ANY portion of food, large or small) was a hell of a challenge. It can happen.

Of course, that was from heavy, daily smoking for a while.

That's a sweeping assumption. Shame on you. You aren't Dr House after all!

Where did you travel? It's very common to get diarrhea while travelling, from exposure to pathogens that the local population is immune to. My first guess would be a bacterial infection.

Oddly enough this seems to be the only withdraw sympton I am having. Since stopping smoking I have had chronic diarrhea going on a week now. I was a chronic habitual user and have not suffered any serious symptoms besided this. Glad to know Im not the only one lol.

Hey, I'm 17 and a half and ive been smoking for 2-4 years now, mostly everyday. My doc sais i have IBS (irritable bowel syndrome) Im wondering if this is quite common with pot smokers, chronic or not chronic? I also feel constipated when i have to go to the washroom, and after constipation, comes diarea. Constipated diarea anyone?...else?

Ive been eating lots of fibre lately to try and help, nothing else seems to settle in my tum without causing cramps,

Someone releive me from my constant cramps and digestive issues!

hey all - I just wanted to provide my personal testimony regarding this issue. I smoked grass for a month strait (probably close to 3 grams a day) and I just quit a few days ago. I have had a severe loss of appetite, stomach pains, diarrhea, and insomnia. %-) Furthermore, I have had hot flashes and nausea at times. Also I have had very strange sense I would say "recoveries." For instance, I bought a camo hat during this month of pot use and I honestly thought the was brown green and tan. It turns out that the hat is grey, green and tan and it is not lighting either. Also my body is adjusting to its sense of touch again too. Anyway, I always believed people who told me that pot has no withdraw effects and is harmless (except the smoke inhalation). Now I realize that either those people were lying to me (which I doubt) or they NEVER quit smoking pot and don't realize what is in store for them.

Well this is crazy because I have been smoking weed for over 15 years nonstop. Even the bigger potheads out there used to call me Mr. Pot head USA. And this was way back. I've probably come close to the world record for smoking pot, as I constantly smoked. Well I have quit several times, or was forced to not have it in other words. I got on probation, it went dry, etc. Anyway during the first few days I would get the most severe diareah, which it appears to be parasites. I always typed in Marijuana and Parasites on Google and couldnt find any real link. I actually started getting these problems from the weed(and lack of it) AFTER I had a major overdose on XTC (mdma and speed) I also have heard others get the same problem. It basically feels like your heart is exploding or getting very TIGHT when you smoke. Then if you continue to smoke you get used to that feeling, and basically when you quit. it all starts draining out of that area, and pretty much the entire intestine. I am actually on the toilet right now while typing this : ) I have not smoked for 2 days. I have had the usual chronic diareah/parasites. My theory is that the overdose weakened my immune system to the point to where I cannot process the toxins in my liver too well (and yes weed DOES have a lot of toxins in it...and it's from what they use to grow it with. I have even heard they can spray the plant with Windex. So, anyone healthy should have no problem detoxing the weed normally. This leads me to believe that ALL of us who replied to this and are having these problems, has a weak immune system. Let's work together and try to find a link here.

Do ANY of you who get this diahrea/nausea from stopping the weed, ever have any other health problems in general? For instance, do you get sick often, etc. We need to establish this link as I am sure I am right. Because BEFORE the overdose I smoked for about 7 years non stop and when I DID stop, I didnt get the diarhea. Just headaces and insomina at the most. I also never got the tightness feeling in my heart. I can guarantee you these ARE parasites that I am sh**ting out....and the good news is, If I stop for over a week, it goes away and I get back to normal. But I still have other problems...but by stopping the TOXIC weed smoking (yes I hate to say that, as I love weed...it saved my life...which I will expalin in a min. but it's what they grow it with that makes it toxic. Fertilizers, etc) so by stopping the weed, is helping your immune system a little by less burden on it. This is part of my theory. So, that makes sense why the parasites go away when your immune system strengtens. There is a proven direct link to immune system and parasites. I believe the overdose was the main culprit in these problems.

So, I am thinking, What kinds of bad things have you guys done in your life, to f**k up your immune system??That is most likely your problem. I bet NONE of you are 100% healthy, right? This would also further back up my theory. A healthy person could smoke for 50 years straight, then quit and have no diareah or anything. All my healthy friends have confirmed this with me. It's only the people that already have some sort of problem with their immune, that experience this. IT's unfortunate because weed is a great thing. I have also tried organic weed though too, and I still got problems after stopping, but thats prob because of all the other bad weed I smoked before that.

So, now I will tell you how the bud saved my life. Well we all know it's the best thing for nausea, as you would just puke up a f*****g pill if you tried to eat one. When you smoke, the medicine gets ingested (the medicine being the herb! I dont recommend taking pills!! They are a scam made to cause new diseases, to make money from you to buy more drugs. It's called "piggybacking" It should be illegal, but the lawmakers are in on it obviously. So, anyway our city went completely dry back in Oct. of 2002. the worst night of my life was Oct 1st 2002. I not only had severe diareah...but I was puking non stop, to the point to where I started choking on it. I couldn't breath and was seeing colors, and was about to pass out. I filled up THREE small garbage cans full of puke that night. I was extremely dehydrated, but kept drinking water to stay alive. I also drank 3 gallons of water total that night, ironically. But I know I puked it all up anyway. So, I was very close to death as I couldnt get any air in. I was almost literally choking to death. All from not having any weed. Now, this CANT be a withdrawl. Weed has never killed anyone. So, I doubt that I would of been the first to die from it. It's obviously some connection with other problems you have. I really think the liver plays a big role in this. I feel I had a bad liver ever since the overdose. I think I had a minor case of cirrhosis, as my ankle has been swollen and my abdomen fills up with liquid sometimes, and I pretty much have all the symptoms of cirrhosis. I've had it for over 10 years now and still alive. The key to beating cirrhosis is to drink PLENTY of clean water. I have always carried a gallon of water with me wherever I go now. So, that is why I think I am still here. I not only am getting healtheir, but my goal is to CURE the cirrhosis! Yes, cure it! I read a report online that says exactly how to do it. And believe it or not, the cure is WATER! It takes between 1 day and 20 years to cure it depending on how advanced it is. They tell us it is incurable, because there's a lot of money in it for them (liver transplants) This is VERY sad, as dying from cirrhosis is a HORRIBLE way to die. I really came close to dying a few times. So, I think the weed also protects you from dying from it, and maybe that's why I almost died when my city went dry that time. By the GRACE of GOD, or the higher power (I wasn't meant to die) I managed to get a little weed from a friend around 4 am (I probably had about 20 mins left to live at this point as it was just getting worse and worse) who had a little weed that was smuggled in through a gas tank. It looked very dirty and toxic, but I had no choice. That little bit of weed saved my life. Luckilt the friend even delivered it to me. I had to call and wake her up, and I dont even think she believed me that I was dying from lack of weed, but when she saw me, she knew it was for real. So, I always thought if I ever wasnt able to get it again, I would die. I always made sure to have weed, 24 hours a day and get more before I ran out. I always feared it would go dry again (if you need weed to survive, just move to las vegas....that city NEVER goes dry) Oh yeah, did i mention home grown weed wouldnt do the trick for me. Even though it was dry in the city, there was still homegrown floating around, which didnt ever work for me. I really didnt know what the heck, but over the years I have learned a lot. I found out the diareah is parasites(it's explosive as hell...but I even learned how to hold it in over the years. If you hold it long enough and enough times, it will eventually stop) Good luck guys, I need to get off the f*****g toilet now.
PS- Just because you went to the doctor and they said you're healthy, doesnt mean it's true. Doctors are some of the dumbest people on the planet. They were trained improperly (surely on purpose for the "business") and they also die at a much younger age on averahe than other people do. I think the average life span of a doctors is 55 years? Go figure..

Well Vitamin C helps strengthen your immune system so i suggest you start taking more of that. You can buy it in pills or you eat foods high in vitamin c.
