When I lived in Seattle, I smoked very little. When I moved to Denver I started smoking more and eventually smoked every day for short periods of time, then I'd stop for a month or so and I just tried pot again recently to find the pressure in my stomach, gallbladder, diaphragm area to resurface after even my 1st hit; any given time I've smoked again.
I feel like there is an elastic band around my body just under my ribs. My intuition is that either b) I've subluxated some thoracic vertebra that cuts off nerve impulses to my gut or c) I'm allergic to cannabis because of all my tree and grass allergies I have in Denver and therefore my innards swell up when I smoke or d) I'm angry and need to deal with gallbladder issues such as anger and resentment(Eastern medicine stuff).
I notice also that my bowel movements float when my stomach feels this way. Weird body stuff I notice, I swear. I should have become a doctor not a massage therapist.
Let me know if any body else has these weird symptoms.
Perhaps it's a resin allergy as the good Dr. wrote.

I've been increasingly dependent on weed over the last 5 or 6 years, smoking at least twice a day (blunts). This is my 2nd day of not smoking and my stomach is also killing me. On top of taht my anxiety is REALLY kicking in.. It kinda seems like marijuana withdrawal(stomach problems) only effects those with anxiety issues. My whole body (and mind) feels very tense, I'm sure my stomach is as well.
I'm not sure if theres anything I can do to make this withdrawal any better since I cant eat or take pills.. my stomach seriously feels like its locked up solid... man this is gonna suck!
I looked on WebMD and they had NOTHING regarding any of this..

I had just read the blog about the guy who's stomach was upset from smoking marijuana. I honestly think that it just wasn't for you. Everyone is different so it might have been the weed that was hurting your stomach. Usually if you smoke on a empty stomach, you'll start to turn. But it can also happen if you've eaten far too much as it is.
I personally suffer from pains in my stomach. I tried meds like nexus but then i couldn't eat anything without feeling bloated and sick. Marijuana settled and even relieved the pains. So i would suggest trying maybe another method of use or just not at all.

i started smoking pot about 8 years ago and a few months ago i got symptoms of a virus in my stomach i have had stomach problems since then, throwing up, much acid in my stomach, diareah and upper stomach pain , i never would think it was from pot but recently i have read things to say that it really could be from this i really dont want to stop smoking has anyone else gotten relief when they stopped smoking?
I have been blazing daily for about two years. usually start in the morning and always blaze right before bed. and for the past year i have been having mad stomach problm.s been in the hospital 4 times for it. had scopes and x rays and cat scans and stool samples and everything. all they can figure is stress and alcohol sensitivey. but this forum has changed my mind. in the mornings i feel nervous and nauseua untill i smoke. and i cant eat breakfast till i blaze. When i smoke too much i start puking the next morning. sometimes i manage just to gag, sometimes i puke for 4 days and end up n the hospital with a iv in my arm. bottom line is im quiting. i have to. i feel f*cking stupid for not doing it sooner. but this thread has made up my mind. thanks for your stories it has helped a ton. u should quit too, has it really been worth it? goodluck
with me i don't really get stomach pains, i mean i do when i smoke and i don't eat anything but thats understandable because im hungry and not eating. but anyway, i get really nauseous, like im going to throw up if i do it a lot (like 5-6 days in a row). I can barely eat, I'm not hungry at ALL and i feel anorexic because its a struggle to eat more then 500 calories when in the past it was IMPOSSIBLE for me to eat that little a day. i also feel hungry, and my stomach growls but i cant physically eat anything without wanting to BARF! I think that it has a lot to do with these factors: 1) eating HORRIBLY, ie: mcdonalds, burger king, taco bell (the worst), basically having just a really bad diet, 2) anxiety/stress, which gets worse from the pot so maybe it makes things more extreme. i think this factor is pretty big because so many people throw up normally from being nervous without even using pot, so just imagine being nervous and having the pot affect it which could amplify the effects of stress and stuff which would cause you to throw up when you normally wouldn't 3) having munchies and being so used to having to use the pot to be hungry, and then not having it and my stomach just has to adjust, 4) the THC/swallowing smoke into my stomach, 5) eating at weird times, eating more then i normally would, basically bingeing, plus my stomach is sensitive so thats also something
the only thing that really helps is taking a 2-3 day break, and not doing it days in a row. i think its just once you start going out of control itbackfires, the body just has to adjust without the marijuana

Hi, psyched I found this site because I'm finally seeing people with similar abdominal symptoms, questioning the ling to MJ! I've been experiencing pretty serious symptoms regularly for about 3 years - severe left-sided upper abd pain, constipation/bloating/dia, interrupted sleep. I've smoked weed for about 14 years, but not heavily until about (surprise!) 3 years ago (life went to sh*t). Shortly after that time, the symptoms started, but they were bad when I wasn't high, and were relieved when I was high.
I've been through a million tests (docs thought I had cancer or Chron's disease, symptoms get pretty bad), which have noted some minor small intestine inflammation, but nothing that would explain all the symptoms. The only thing left that I can think of is to totally cut out weed (i've tried this before, but only for 5-6 day periods). I think perhaps a longer break of two weeks or so ma yallow my GI to go back to normal, maybe something to do with feedback loops and the body's acclimation to constant weed. I'll post the results up here, may they'll help some people in the fture.

No, I've been smoking pot for 7 years now pretty much daily and haven't had an ulcer in my life until now. i am still smoking pot even with the ulcer because my doc didn't prescribe me any pain meds. (funny thing is I'd get in more trouble with a couple vicodin than with an ounce of pot.) besides, it helps with the appetite and kinda numbs the pain, not like i can go have me a fat steak after toking or anything, but at least it gives me a little courage to persist and keep my energy up.
by the way, i got some antibiotics and prilosec for the ulcer, as for food... tose little shake things for old people "Ensure" those are pretty darn good and go down smooth.

i have been having a lot of vaginal burning for the last 3 months and didn't know what it was coming from. I have visited many gynecologists and all my pap smears are normal, and all doctors don't know whats wrong. I have been smoking weed for 2-3 times a day, and i did feel the most pain and burning while i was high, i now stopped smoking because the pain has been so bad, and i feel so much better. could marijuana really cause this? what is the problem? what do i have? could i start smoking soon? i don't know if i should even tell the doctor about smoking marijuana? please helppppp
Yea just a FYI. I went to the Dr. and described to him the stomach pains I have had for a long time. He told me it was most likely acid reflux or gastro enteritis just like many others on this forum. He ordered an upper endoscopy and I went for the procedure. After all was said and done It tuns out nothing showed up during the procedure. They prescribed Zantac and Prilosec and attributed it to Acid Reflux. After a while I got busted and was put on drug test twice weekly. After about 2 months of this I stopped feeling the stomach pain. As soon as I was done I began to smoke again. It has been about 2 months since I started smoking again and the pain has returned. I am also a cigarette smoker and think this may be attributed to that. I am going to stop smoking cigarettes and see if that helps. I think it may be the cigs cause when I was not smokin pot I was smoking cigs and the pain persisted. It wasn't until I stopped smokin cigarettes the the pain subsided.
This is in response to some previous posts that I made here about 5 months ago regarding marijuana and the issues I had with smoking it. Well, after going to a bunch of different doctors I still couldnt figure out what the problem was so I quit smoking again and I felt good, but after a few weeks it felt like the pains were coming back, even though I hadnt smoked in weeks, I went to my VA Clinic and they told me I was suffering from severe depression, I didn't believe it at first because I didn't feel depressed, but then again I guess I really don't have anything to compare it too, but I know depression runs in my family, and I have been going through a lot of stressfull situations.
But the doctor prescribed me some Zoloft starting in September and I took it for a few months and I decided I would try to some a little just to see if I could, and I actually felt really good, I've been smoking for about 2 months now, I occasionally feel a little discomfort, but the pain is nowhere near as bad as it was this summer.
I don't think the problem was the weed but was the fact that I was in a depressed state already when I was smoking, and the smoking would aggrivate the deppression, and I would start to get digestion problems like constipation, diarea, and hemroids. I feel a whole hell of a lot better than I did this past summer, better than I have in a while.
So if you think you've had some of the simalar symptoms rhat I described in earlier posts, you might want to check up on the possibility that the stomach problems are being caused by stress or depression. Just look into the idea, even if you don't suspect you are, look into it anyway, it took me a while to find out that was what my problem was. - Mike

Hello from cold Finland! :$
We have a very active cannabis-website (Hamppu forum) in Finland, but couldn't find the answer for my annoying stomach-feelings after smoking(OR vaporizing). Feels like your stomach is very full, or full with air? Some pain might also occur in upper abdomen, which makes me think its heart related. Also I try to burp a lot, and all the food i swallow seems to take very long time to reach stomach(could be just a feeling :-) ). Its VERY annoying! I have just found the great herb and it is such a turn off for a very nice high!
I have been diagnoced acid reflux, and Im taking somac every day for it. The feeling still comes when high.

i've been smoking weed for 11 years and quit 3 days ago, and boy does my stomach hurt! it feels as if someone is squeezing as tightly as possible on the insides - it hurts so much. the pain is located right below my chest plate and frequents throughout the day. hope this is just a minor withdraw symptom and not something more serious. i also use to inject all my roaches (and i mean all my roaches) after smoking. anyhow, i will smoke again someday if it ever becomes legal - hope everyone else's stomach pains deminish!
