I had my GB out 3 weeks ago, and felt great for a week, then slam!!! a half hour after eating a cream cheese & jelly bagel - back the the severe nausea like before where I didn't know if I was going to poop, puke, or pass-out. Then I get severe shakes and chills. I went to the Dr. immediatley and they were like "you should be able to eat a dead possum by now with no problems". Then he said I'm just experiencing post-op panic attacks and gave me Xanax. Also, they've scheduled me for a Endoscopy = mo' money, mo' money....mo'

All I can say is "thanks" to all of you for posting your similar stories, so now I know I'm not some flake whose having anxiety attacks about getting sick after eating the simplest things.  I too have lost weight because I have no "real" appetite, because what I feel I can eat just doesn't appeal to me anymore.

Take it slowly! Everyone heals differently! I was where you are last year. Once I started working on staying hydrated (which took a hospital stay), then I stuck to a liquid diet for a few weeks. I lived on Ensure! I feel like they saved my life! I still have the occasional bad day, but no more constant nausea. I have to make sure that I keep my blood sugar levels even, I am not diabetic though. I have found that anything with Splenda, aka. Sucralose, will cause the dizziness, headaches, and upset stomach. I avoid it like the plague! Make sure you rest! But the most important thing is to make sure you are staying hydrated and keeping your calories at a minimum of 1250-2000 per day. Talk to your doctor though, but these are things that worked for me. Hang in there!

This is the first website I've been on where people have the same symptoms as me. I had my gallbladder out 7 days ago, and my main symptoms before were nausea and acid reflux symptoms. I thought after the surgery the nausea would go away, but it's worse than before. I'm so incredibly frustrated because I'm hungry and want to eat normal food but i feel like I want to throwup 24/7, thought I havent at all. I'm barely eating anything, and taking the smallest sip of water upsets my stomach. I just want this to be over so I can feel normal again, and eat normal. I'm 21, 5.5 and now weigh 115 pounds, after losing over 40.. It's such a relief to know other people have acid and nausea symptoms, because everywhere else I looked, people were only complaining of the pain.

I'm just praying for the day to come where I won't feel so sick.

Stop eating the greasy foods.  My doctor gave me bentyl for nausea when needed.  I aslo go to a great chiropracter who is a christian and explained how the digestive system works.  I had surgery about a month and half ago, i still struggle at times but bentyl does the trick, trying to stop taking them.  Yes, some people it takea while to feel better. your the healed in jesus name.

I just keep feeling scared because my digestion still feels off----I wanted to join this forum so I could be in touch with others who have gone through similar things----Thanks in advance for any replies---my prayer life is what has given me the most comfort---

I had my gallbladder out 5 weeks ago.. I felt even more nauseated after surgery, and literally culdnt eat anything. i didn't throw up. though it was close and just severe nausea.. One of the anti-inflammatories they gave me post-op was making me nauseous. Also, they usually prescribe stool softeners and stuff because your stomach is kind of in shock aftet surgery and you do go to the bathroom.. Well i wasn't going, though I had constipation problems before as well.. My doctor gave me, it just helps keep your stomach working. It made the WORLD difference.. I still have some off days, and some acid symptoms, but I feel normal again. Talk to your doctor about those kind of things! domparidone

I don't think I had any stones-----How long did you suffer symptoms before they decided on surgery....I had only been sick for a few weeks but the tw and a half weeks before surgery were terrible because I lived with nausea and couldn't eat---did you have laproscopic surgery?

This is to "bellco"...  It took them 7 months to find what was wrong, so that's how long I suffered for.  I literally ate nothing for 7 months, and lost a lot of weight, and I was already skinny to begin with, so that scared my doctor. I did have gallstones, and I  had sludge as well.. I had laproscopic surgery, and the surgery said when he removed it, it was really scarred. It wasn't functioning at all for me. As for the waking up "not hungry", I had that as well. I honestly wouuld sit and cry because I was so frustrated, and I thought it wouldn't end. I ate my first hotdog yesterday lol, and I didn't feel sick at all after! So PLEASE talk to your doctor. For me, and for most, I just needed help getting my stomach moving and digesting. And it really did make the world difference. I really had to ease my way into food though...so don't try eating everything at once!

Did you take anything for the nausea---some days I have been able to eat and actually felt hungry at times---I have just been eating very low fat---turkey sandwich---grits---broiled fish mashed potatoes---but since yesterday I have eaten very little---7 months!!!! Truly, I don't know how you did it---could you work or do very much---I see my doctor today and I hope he can help---I am going to jot down some suggestions I have gotten---there is someone here who is a client who had her gallbladder taken out five years ago---she said she had the nausea after also and her doctor put her on prilosec and gaviscon and it worked---have you tried that? I guess I am spoiled because I have never felt this sick day after day---do you mind me asking how old you are? also, one more thing---constipation is not a problem right now---every day I have either diahrrea or very soft stool(sorry to be so graphic)

I'm 21 years old. Just turned actually, so I was 20 through most of it haha. Honestly, I took gravol every day. I still have to take it now and then, and it helps.  Right after surgery however, the nausea was so strong, that 2 gravols at once wouldn't even help.  I'm also taking Tecta for acid symptoms, and pepto if it's really bad. That's it! I was on Nexium before for the acid but it wasn't doing much. Now I'm taking the domperidone once a day. I was prescribed to take it 3 times, but it was way to much and I got diarrhea from it. Before surgery, I was the same as you, eating extremely low fat, absolutely no dairy and no greasy/ deep fried food. The first week and a half after surgery, all I could eat was bananas, a couple crackers, boiled chicken and plain white rice. After that all I ate was chicken soup. I can handle more solid foods now, but I'm still taking it slow, I don't want to shock anything. As for the constipation, I'm probably just not getting enough fibre, because a lot of fruits are too hard for me to digest right now. And I'm not drinking much water, I find drinking harder to handle than eating food sometimes.

I have similar symptoms--had my gallbladder out laproscopically 10 days ago----I have spoken to friends who went through it and some got better right away and some say it takes two months or more for the nausea to go away---

I was a psychotherapist for years and I don't think your symptoms are due to panic-----even though you may have panic-----are you better now?

I have terrible nausea and have lost weight and was already thin---I am scared too because it makes me worry I have something really wrong---hope to hear from you

I am 4 months gall bladder post op. My doctor said it will be 4-6 months to start feeling better. I have had constant nausea. SOME days are good while others are bad. A friend said it took her ALL most a year to feel better. I can eat anything, some greasy food but not too spicy. I have not thrown up, just feels like I have to.

Anyone else have this?

YES - I am in a constant state of nausea but I have not tried the colesterimine (spelling may be wrong). My doctor just suggested it and after I rid myself of rectal inflammation I will be trying it...

I am two weeks post op for gallbladder surgery and I feel nauseaous every day---how long did it take to feel better?
