I work in healthcare but had my gallbladder taken out ASAP 5 days ago I did my research to see what is normal and what's not. I've spoken to professionals and family members who overcame this procedure. All the effects I've read so far is completely normal after this type if surgery. Everyone is different for example my mom had this procedure years ago and 3 days after her surgery she was like nothing ever happened, amazing! In my case that I am currently recovering I want to share what I've experienced and what I am currently going through, just let me say it hasn't been easy.
Taken in ambulance to the hospital on Saturday, gallbladder taken out on Sunday by the way it was so bad it infected my liver and also caused me a tremendous UTI, discharged on Monday with 2 antibiotics to fight the infections my body is struggling with...and now the fun begins... I've been nauseous so nauseous that my best friends has been ginger ale and saltine crackers, light headed but the third day I was so dizzy I felt I was going to fall. Haven't been able to sleep cause at night I get gas stuck either in my lower back or ribcage and it hurts alot, menu has been an experiment what I can tolerate in a Hispanic household. So far light noodle soup, cranberry juice has been my diet, yesterday I was able to eat a small portion of mashed potatoes and steamed chicken. Nauseous as usual comes and goes but it's normal and I am still taking antibiotics which can cause it. I've been able to eat mandarins and I can tolerate well, I drink a lot if water but that is a normal habit. The surgical site is healing well. The one thing that is driving me insane is the itching, my body itch from head to toe I constantly put cream cause I don't want to keep on taking other medication until I'm done with the antibiotics. I received a phone call follow up from the hospital yesterday all this is pretty much normal such in my case. Today I woke up much better, was able to do my hair and do a couple of things around the house but not pushing it, still nauseous but not as much. Monday is my follow up appt hope infections are gone by then and that I can return to work that week =) hope this info helps. There are medications to ease any side effects so talk to your doctor if you're concerned for any reason or if you have any discomfort.
