I had a neuroma removed just 2 weeks ago after 6 months of terrible discomfort. After a local anaesthetic came home wearing a surgical shoe? No crutches necessary. After removal of stitches today, day 14 , walking easily in trainers? No noticeable swelling and although my foot is tender it feels very much better. Hope yours goes well. Good luck.

I just read your letter and am wondering how you are doing. My surgery was October and the swelling and tightness are still a daily thing. I have a compression sock I am wearing but the moment it is off, the foot swells like a sausage. I'm also having extreme pain along one of the stitches' lines at least once a day. About a month ago,the surgeon told me I needn't see him again - and that was the day he diagnosed cellulitis along one of the suture lines. I then went to see my GP and he was so very helpful - glad I got a second opinion on the infection.

I am 16 days post surgery (3/4 right foot). I'm walking 8000-10000 steps a day. Still some swelling inside the ball of the foot, but that really went down yesterday. A few tingles here and there, but those are decreasing. So far I am so happy with the surgery, but I've been dealing with the neuroma for over 14 years, so this is sooo much better.

Hello I do hope you get full recovery, as for me my foot is still the same painful at night in bed just when you want to relax not sure why the surgery has left me like this but after so many years I feel I just have to live with it. I had a rotator cuff surgery done a year after this and to me the foot surgery has caused me so much more grief the shoulder surgery went very well and back to normal now but the foot is still painful have to be very careful what shoes I wear.

Tremendous tightness of all the toe joints after surgery, easier to point and curl my toes (which provides a little relief from the discomfort) than to flex them, which is a bit painful still one month after surgery, My ankle was also stiff when I first resumed walking 12 days post-op, but that's likely due to immobility and it's much better now. Everything is gradually loosening up, I'm trying to walk more though one trip up and down a city block resulted in aching pain along the edge between the ball and the arch of my foot that was gone after a night's sleep. Though the scar appears to be very well healed, the area around it remains a little puffy (whether or not the foot has been elevated) and quite sensitive. I have to remind myself that it's only been a month (to the day) and that patience is a virtue :-)

The treatment for Morton's Neuroma is Cryosurgery, My husband had it done with The Barn Clinic. He quickly recovered with little side effects.

I had surgery several years ago. I get that burning feeling occasionally but a couple of ibuprofen always help.. Just started running again and the burning is more frequent, usually in the middle of the night.

Read over all the post and really didn't see any like mine. I had mn surgery 6 weeks ago. After three weeks, I was able to wear a walking boot. Within a few days of wearing the walking boot, I ended up with a stress fracture on my heel. I am now unable to walk more than 10-20 steps or so at a time in the walking boot. I use a knee scooter most of the time. The heel stress fracture is not causing the pain, it feels like my 3rd, 4th and 5th toe are breaking every time I take a step. I am scared to death this nightmare will never end. My next Dr appt is in 2 weeks. I really don't have any pain at all when I am sitting or laying.i am wondering if the walking boot could be causing my Mortons neuroma area to flare up. Has anyone else wore a walking boot for an extended amount of time after mn surgery?
I started swimming this past week hoping to increase my chances of being able to walk at least a little again. I am a 56 year old female who was extremely active. Any suggestions, advice?

Just wondering if things settled down eventually for you? I am only 4 weeks post surgery but a bit panicky of how things will work out. I am having a lot of stiffness and stabbing pains at the moment and not yet walking on it as feels like shards of glass sticking in ball of foot. Hope you are doing better now

Try 1/4 inch foam rubber with the tender place cut out in an oval. I used several layers in bigger running shoes. The top layer solid and smooth for on/off. I used fairly dense foam like for keyboard mouse padding, 14" square from Office Depot, then I got a roll of it for many pairs of shoes.

If I wear really good sports shoes I can walk for an hour but not in my day shoes so fashion has gone out of the window. Cheap shoes are no good at all need a lot of support. Hope your recovery will be better than mine I'm sure it will I think I should have gone to a real specialist in foot surgery and did not though he did my shoulder operation Rotor Cuff and no problems at all but he had no answers for the failed MN surgery.
