Similar symptoms wondering how you are doing a year later?

Thank you for replying. It is good to know that it is possible for the pebble / rock feeling to go away eventually. Best wishes for your future prognosis too.

Hello Ely, Today is 7th Jan 2017. I have just read your post that you did over a year ago, at the 10 weeks post surgery stage. Wondering how things turned out for you? I had MN surgery 5 weeks ago and I am still really suffering with all sorts of pain and unpleasant sensations. I had 2 neuromas removed from my left foot (between 2nd/3rd and 3rd/4th toes). I get pins and needles all the time, tightness, walking on pebble/ridges sensation and extremely painful sensitive area just behind the ball of foot (centre of sole area). Did you get these problems post surgery and did they ever go away? I am particularly concerned regards the walking on marbles/lumpy sensation ? I look forward to your reply and hope that you are doing really well now!
Thank you, Liz

I just had a 12mm neuroma removed dec 23,16 and I'm in my third week and I had to rock the shoe and stitches for two weeks. I have some pain but not major and I can drive. The first two weeks are crucial !

Hi there...
Just reading your post...and I know it was over a year ago... but I was wondering how your feet are now? I had three neuromas removed 12 weeks ago two in right, one if left foot. I'm an ultra runner and this has been a huge 'inconvenience' in my life as I was told it was a simple op and I'd be up and running within two months. Although my feet have healed, my toes are numb and I struggle to walk barefoot. When I do walk, its as if I'm walking on two hard balls and have nervie-type pain around the area in both feet. I've tried jogging but by 2ks my feel feel as if they have neuromas again, its SO painful. I had an MRI done on Wednesday and was told there is a lot of scar tissue in the areas the neuromas were removed. I'm devastated as I've qualified for the Comrades Marathon and there is no way I can run with this pain. Since you had your op a year ago, I was wondering if yours has settled and you back to normal again. Are you by any chance a dancer? If you are, I'm sure you will understand my frustration... Much appreciated.

I just read your post. I know it's been awhile since you neuroma surgery but did you ever figure out what the pea size lump was. I'm almost 5 weeks post op and I developed a pea size lump on the arch of my foot. The doctor said he didn't know what it was. Any ideas? It's tender to the touch and looks a little bruised.

Yep, I understand your pain. I am one week after surgery and feeling pretty good about it. My foot has not totally recovered from the surgery, but the neuroma pain is gone.

I also have a neuroma in my left foot. I had one in my right foot and tried the Avicennia laser also at a chiropractor. It id not help me. I had orthotics custom made - they did not help. It got so painful that I couldn't sleep so after dealing with this for a year and a half I started to search out a dr. who could help. I went to one GP, 2 podiatrists, one chiropractor, then three Orthopedics. In the process I had tens, foot soaks (podiatrist) ultrasound, custom Orthotics ($400). Then I saw the Ortho's. The first one gave me a cortisone shot and said he did not do this type of surgery. Next Ortho RX was physical therapy -really? NO results at all. Finally, I found a Ortho who specialized in foot and ankle procedures. He did the surgery. Before I went there I researched scholarly documents on Google and found that his surgery could be successful IF the end of the nerve was buried into the interosscious muscle the prevent a stump neuroma. I asked him "What happens to the nerve after it's extracted"? He answered precisely with what the text book said. I am now 3 and 1/2 years from the surgery and am doing well with some minor muscle twinges at times.but much less pain if any. It was a LONG and difficult recovery with nerves firing off constantly; a lot of icing as well as Epsom salt foot bath to get relief. I also used essential oils brand name Neuropathy primarily meant for use in Diabetes. (Can be found in drugstores) My left foot has one as well but has not reached the critical stage where I want to have surgery. I hope this can answer some of your questions.

I have had a similar experience. Long recovery from surgery on one side and avoiding surgery on the other unless things become worse. Thanks for sharing your story.

Hi, just reading thru here, wondering how your results ended up. I'm one week post-op, and I think it's healing good. But I can't sit for long before my foot feels like it's falling asleep. I'm guessing that's just part of the healing process.

I had my first surgery June of 2016, it was October before I could get tennis shoes on. I recently had my other foot done and had shoes on and went back to work after 5 1/2 weeks. The problem the first time is I waited so long that once I had the surgery I continued walking terribly. I was swollen all the way up to my knee prior to the surgery and in a lot of pain. I did not wait that long for the other foot. I am 6 1/2 weeks out from surgery and overdid it 3 days ago and the swelling isn't going down. I have a friend who had 1 nerve taken out and not too long after went back to running a 5k. Another friend is more like me, she had 1 nerve taken out of the first foot, then 2 taken out of the second. A year beyond this she had to go back and get the other nerve out of the first foot as well as have some scar tissue removed due to being to active after the first surgery. Pretty sure this is where I am as my doctor has already told me I may need another surgery. The good news is she is several years out from all 3 surgeries and doing well. She says it takes about a year to recover from the surgeries. I am still not even at a year for the 1st one. Although at times the 1st foot is more painful then the most recent surgical one. The 2nd surgery went much better, I was more careful and they took both nerves. Good luck to everyone. I still would not go back to all the pain I was in prior to the first surgery it was terrible. I want to go barefoot but for now I will settle for just haveing much less pain.
