Female, 60

I had this occur once when I was in grade school, once a day after delivering my baby, and occaisionally over the last 10 years since I've been self-managing a very large piece of land besides other work.  In every case, I'm physically and/or mentally exhausted.  When it occurs the dreams I have are very realistic and detailed.  Sometimes I realize I'm dreaming and wake up in time to relieve myself in the bathroom.  Sometimes I wake myself up just as I start to urinate.  Sometimes I don't wake up untill afterwards.

The best way to manage the problem is to avoid drinking liquid late at night, urinate right before going to bed and fully eliminate your bladder, set an alarm to wake up earlier (I've never had the problem when I have to get up really early).  Otherwise, if workload is the issue like me, perhaps you just need to scale back a bit.

Hope some people are still here reading this!!!
im a male 21 years old, i havnt wet my bed since i was a young young boy, now last night i wet my bed, i was dreaming that i was in some school, i was younger in my dream, then i ran to the public bathrooms and took a leak on this weird maze type of thing, i dont know lol. but i know it was a maze, and i remember that i was trying to solve it while i was peeing on it..inception? this is even more weird.

LATER THAT other night when i went to bed, i really dont want to wet again so i made sure i took a piss before i went to bed. i had another dream. it was so realistic, i dreamt that i wet my bed IN my dream and was totally convinced that i did it again in real life so i was REALLY UPSET and "pissed" off lol so i ran out and took my bike and went away, thinkin "oh sh*t not again dont want my gf to find out about this sh*t" and then i woke up bone dry.....sh**s wack people THATS inception

I was suffering from severe bed-wetting issue till the age of 17. After 17, the frequency reduced. But after a long time, i realised that if i am urinating in my dream, i must wake up and go to the toilet. Now I have trained my sub-conscious mind to wake up as soon as I am about to urinate in my dreams. This has saved me lot of embarrassing moments in my life.

I have a very similar situation. I used to wet my bed a lot when I was younger up until I was twelve and I would wakeu and strip the sheets from my bed and throw them in the washer so my parents wouldnt find out. It was always accompanied by a dream using the toilet. No matter what the dream was a toilet would appeared. I started making sure that I would go to the bathroom right before I went to bed. It stopped when I was twelve, but then it happened a couple times in high school when I would forget to use the bathroom before bed and once again would wake up and wash my sheets. It sounds crazy but some how it was working, as long as I empty my bladder immediately before going to bed, I wouldn't urinate in my sleep. I am 24 yrs old and I have only had a couple episodes in my 20's and they occured when I did not use the bathroom before sleeping.

I don't know why others can go to sleep with out relieving their bladder and not wet their bed. All I know is that for some reason, no matter how much I control my liquid intake in the hours before going to bed, I still have to sit on the toilet and empty my bladder before going to sleep. I may not know why, and I may not like it, but it works, so that's something.

I can't believe I stumbled on to this site. I have been having this issue for lots of years and it sucks. I have decided to just force myself to wear depend/generics to bed to avoid washing the sheets and wetting the mattress. (not worth it) I also sleep on a towel. never did it as a child. never know when it's gonna happen, what a drag.

Good to know I am not alone, this is the first time it has happened and I am 45! We were staying at a friends apartment in single beds and my partner got up and made out he had spilled coffee on my bed and we put the sheets on to was. I was on holiday so stress level lower than usual but working life is very stressful. Now not sleeping well as worried about it happening again!

i'm a 30 male and have gone years and years without any problems, although i was a bedwetter till quite late as a kid. Apart from that i'd have a random isolated incident every couple years or so; sometimes drunk sometimes sober. The common factors i've identified with my situation and with all the other cases on here are:

-It ALWAYS starts with a really vivid dream and taking a pee and often in the dream its like i'm bursting to go but for some reason it's a struggle

-It's very rare it happens in my own bed; usually i'm on holiday, visiting family/friends or am staying over at my girlfriends.

-Since i've been with my girlfriend it's happened 3 times in the 4 months that we've been together. The last time before it happened before we got together was 3-4 years ago and happened the night after i got really, really drunk and stoned and had a one night stand on holiday in Scotland. The night it happened i was sober and luckily on my own.

-I think it must be stress related and perhaps the dream is a way of my brain trying to vent some stress... by making me piss myself...

Hypnotherapy sounds like a good idea? Any success?

I have the exact same thing!! How have you trained your mind?? I'm trying to do the same thing by being mindful every time i take a piss. Every time i'm taking a piss i try and remember to pinch myself and ask myself whether i'm dreaming now.

The trigger at present seems to be sleeping with my girlfriend in an unfamiliar bed...so embarrassing...

Male 31, I get the same dream after which I wakeup to find the bed wet, happens to me once or more every year or two sometimes more or less
What I figured out, it happens to me when I am too tired and specially getting cold at night while sleeping
my solution, always use toilet before bed and make sure I stay warm through the night, helps a lot in my case
hope that helps anyone else.

I'm a 51 year old male and I never had a bed wetting problem as a child. It started about 10 years ago when I would have a dream that I had to go to the bathroom. I would end up going from one bathroom to another and for some reason I would not be able to go. I would finally find a place and for some reason would not be able to go. I would then have to push very hard and at this point I would begin to wet the bed. It happens about 3-4 times a year. I don't drink anything before bed and I always go to the bathroom before bed. It is always in a dream.

I'm 37, female, undergoing anxiety and depression over various life situations. This week it happened to me twice--has never happened before in my life! I don't know what to do...if it continues, I guess I have to contact the doctor. I had a sleep study done--twice--and they found nothing wrong with me, but I believe I have Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, which is understood by VERY few doctors in the USA. I don't know if my fatigue has anything to do with this or my recent grieving over my mom's death. But twice in one week--waking from a dream (one dream involved urinating) and then realzing that a) I had wet myself and b) I still had to go, so I was able to fully wake up and go to the bathroom. I don't have diabetes (I hope). I'm at a loss!
