i had by bilateral ingernal hernia that's both sides done on the same day, after having two deep and long insisions in surgery 2 hours later I past out bad reaction After being put out , they then kept me in for the nite for observation keeping a eye on me ,the next day I went home , then the pain kicked in , but I had a different effect from sound of done of you guys , my balks did swell but then so has my penis tip the floid manages to make its way to my tip and in foreskin making it swell terribly it's now been 5 days and it's still the same and feels like it's going to burst , pee is still finding its way through and no pain while peeing but , I and in severe pain two at a time is just to much trormer to the lower part of your body as it's now unable me to walk , I'm seeing doc tomoz morning if I Havnt got someone to take me to a&e already as I would thought this is going to have to be drained off some how by needle , the whole of my penis and balls are still black , my shaft is bent now with the weight on the end and really feel like it's going to burst open , its now 1 in the morning as I'm sitting here in pain writing this and mite be waking someone up in a mo to get this sorted , it's not looking good , but obviously after hearing most what you other guys have said I'm not so psnnikkng apart from the tip looks like a apple grrrrrrr , thought I share this with ya mite make someone feel at ease

I had the repair done on Monday and the surgeon told my wife that he had removed a hernia the size cantaloupe and it took 10 staples to close the wound. And my penis and festivals are still badly swollen .

I just had the same surgery 3 days ago with the same results. No pain but it sure looks awful. How long did it take to go away

Well, I had it two days ago, my testicles and penis are totally black and i have serious urine burn when I pee.

My question is, is that normal? Because the pain in my belly button is overwhelming and the black areas are getting darker.

yes i have just had inquinal hernia repair a week ago today.My penal shaft is red and my scotum is purple in colour and i have pain passing urine i also have a grabbing pain in my right side that is severe at times and it gets unbearable at times, but its early days yet.My gp has put me on a course of anti biotics in case of infection.So i cant add much more so heres hoping it clears

Had inguinal hernia surgery yesterday and have been eating really healthy as well as taking my meds as well, so I'm healing pretty fast.. But there is the swelling as if my hernia wasn't removed. I saw some comments about ice packs and I'm wondering if I should ice where there was the incision or my balls?

Had left side open 10 days ago. I'm back to limited work. Swelling down, penis back to usual.

I've spent a lot of time reading the many posts here. This is what I've learned:

1. Spend as much time as possible horizontal, legs up even.

2. Ibuprophene

3. Ice as much as possible

4. Compression shorts all the time until day 7, then sleep at night naked. Let the body adjust.

5. Take walks. Slow at first, but the help healing.

6. Good laxative every night.

7. Chew gum a few times a day to keep digestive track awake.

8. Stuff fold towel between legs at night.

9. It sucks the first few days, but each day you'll see progress. Stay positive.

10. Cut salt intake.

Hope this helps others. Pain meds depend on your capacity. I can walk 2 miles a day now. A few more weeks and I'm back to the gym for light workouts.

i had my left hernia repaired and yes i have the same two problems my penis swelled up three times it's non-erection size and my left ball sack was the size of a orange same side [left] side. penis and left ball sack is purple its been 5days now! Today is feb26.2017 I'll try to keep you informed on how long it takes to get back to normal. chuck

I just got a right inguinal hernia performed at the VA hospital in FL St Pete. I had to go back 3 times to check on my pain, the right testicle
Started getting swollen, very painful and the skin on my penis blew up like a blow fish? Is this a natural thing too? I have been back several times and they said it's "ok" I've never seen any ring like this, has any of you ?if anybody knows anything,, I am a disable vet and they are treating me like c**p!!
