God I've had it for two weeks now, i'm in the medicine profession so really reluctant to see a doctor...

For about a month I have been feeling dull to sharp aches in my throat. I started on Bactrum (antibiotic) and it seemed better but I quit taking it about midway through (like an id**t) and it's started back up. I'm currently on a Z-Pac (5 day antibiotic treatment) with tomorrow being my last day and it's still hurting bad. I'm also having bad sinus drainage. I'm starting to get a little worried...........
I'm having exactly this too for like 7 days now, I was convinced it was something like a tonsil stone but it's like it's ingrained on the right side of my throat. And it's getting sharper. It was really annoying for 6 days but tonight it's a sharp pain. Has it made anyone gag? It's made me gag countless times when I'm alone. My doc told me to take a good OTC antihistamine (like zyrtec, claritin, benadryl). It seemed like it helped last night and again tonight. It's like sometimes (after I take benadryl) I can swallow and not feel it at all, and other times I can feel it, but not as sharp a pain. Also, try to keep your throat as moist as possible by drinking water or something not carbonated. I imagine that can't be bad advice. Also benadryl WILL knock you out, so only take at night!

I just saw my GP for a white bump thing on one side of my throat by my tonsil and sharp pain on that side. He said it was a blister from a virus and that it should clear up in 10 days or so. He said that acidic drinks would make it feel worse and tea would be good. He also told me to gargle salt water and gave me benzocane to numb it with.
this is so unimaginably painful. It keeps waking me up at a stupidly early hour. I'm working evening shifts that end at about half midnight, so when i get home i stay up really lately like 4AM. Then i get woken up at about 6 or 7AM from excruciating pain with symptoms exactly the same as described. White lump(s) on the left side of my throat, kind of wedged in between some of the fleshy flaps. Extremely sharp stabbing pain constantly after i wake up. The pain seems to subside throughout the day, but in the mornings it is like frikkin HELL. It's the reason i googled it today, i was afraid i had throat cancer or something, i've smoked some weed recently. I can't imagine how i could have got this, i've never had so much pain in my throat, and i've had a LOT of various sore throats over my life. I'd trade any for this.

Doc prescribed me to do "Betadine Gargles" and put me on a course of regular pain killer and one antibiotic. I took it for 5 days but no help.
So I took up doing gargles more frequently, eating and drinking hot fluids like custurd, tea, warm water, water with medicine dissolved in it and after 3 days I feel much better. Hope this works for any of you.

have had this pinpoint pain in right side of my throat for weeks, too low to see. originally went to doctor they said was 'probably' a viral infection and to jsut rest. the week after i ended up really sick, lsot my voice, fever, wanting to die. went back to the doctor, a different doctor, said the so-called viral infection was a bacterial infection and gave me a z-pack. took the entire thing, felt great and the spot of pain in my throat had gone away. now it's back, but i don't feel sick otherwise. i do smoke and keep worrying about tumors in my throat or something, but it's worse in the morning when i first wake up, so am trying zyrtec to see if it's related to my allergies. if anyone has something similar or any clues please post.
I have had the same thing too except for it can go away temporally if you take Amoxicillin or Penicillin. Its going to have to do with Throat Cancer or Toncilitus. All i can say is Dr. Office ASAP.
I have had this pain for along time. I feel it alot when I go to talk, but mostly its associated with eating. It literally feels like I have a tiny knife thats is attached to something and it slides up and pokes, then when I swallow it disappears. I am going to the doctor cause it hurts. I am going to a throat specialist.
if you are experiencing "white stuff"... check to see if you also have a fever and/or headache. these are very common signs of strep throat, which is easily treated with antibiotics but also very contagious and dangerous if untreated. a quick trip to the doctor can also help identify if you have strep... the white spots on tonsils is a major sign.
You guys probably both have tonsil rocks, which I have from time to time. At first they poke and scratch the back of the throat and soon can become all you think about...but it's not anything serious. When you have tonsil rocks, you should be able to look deep down into your throat and see a little white tip somewhere. Just moisten an end of a q-tip and apply light pressure right below the white spot, and a little misshapen white chunk will emerge and fall out onto the back of the throat. They will probably smell HORRIBLE, so try and spit them out. The end of the q-tip might be a little bloody, but at least the poking will be gone.
iv had the sharp pain feelin in the conner left of my throat. I told my mum bout it last night its been about two days.I think i remeber haveinig this before.The pain hurts so bad when ever its dry or im just now eating food and havent swallod somethin yet. my mum did nothing about it. Im sure when ever it gets worse she will. But also every year after december i have streph throat and im out of school for 2 weeks.last time i was out for 4 weeks kuz it turned into a rash.so i have throat problems...i was wondernin if any of you have any thing to help me out with?

- i check in the mirror I see a white thing ( like pimple that is white lump ) on the side of my throat entrance ( just notice it today )

go see a DENTIST! that is what they're specialist in

This is getting really annoying my neck is killing me it feels dry,sharp,tight,and its causing massive migraines I don't know what to do no one is taking me serious bout this in my family my dad keeps giving me Chloraseptic thinking its a soar throat please help I have no idea what it is.
JUST BECAUSE YOU GOT THEM OUT DONT MEAN YOU CANT GET INFECTIONS.NOT ONLY THAT BUT ALERGES ARE WHAT IS MOST OF THE CAUSE. YOU PROBIBLY ARE ALERGIC TO SOMETHING IN YOUR HOUSE DUE TO THE SEASON.
