I been dealing with strep throat for two days being 19 it's kinda hardto finger out the pain. My ear is also killing me I don't know what to do or take for it I tried antibiotic but it seem like it ain't working I'm tired of being sick

Here's a list of things I find that help with the sore throat, and that sharp pain behind your tonsils (feels like something sharp is jabbing you back there). I've also been recommended these things by either nurses or doctors.
- (Cold "Melty" Things)
- Popsicles
- Ice Cream
- Gargling warm salt-water.
- Warm Tea
- Warm Apple Juice
- Chicken Broth
- Lots of Water!
The sharp stabby pain behind my tonsils sucks, but the doctor said strep throat should clear away in a few days, so I'm just waiting it out. I'd recommend that those who haven't yet, go see a doctor who can prescribe antibiotics and diagnose you properly. If you can't get to a doctor, call a registered nurse... I believe a lot countries have government programs where nurses are available for consultation over the phone (or at least in Canada).

I also have a sharp pain in my throat. Especially when my throat is dry. It feels like someone is taking a very sharp knife down my throat.
I looked in the mirror and I have a whitish lump where my tonsils used to be. I had my tonsils taken out.
Over the few years they've been out they've been slowly growing back. Now there is a while lump in the spot where they have partially grown back. The skin is all choppy and uneven. I have a clear patch of skin cells going from one part to the other like a rubber band to where there is a hole.
It isn't an infection because I am taking antibiotics for something else for almost two weeks now. I'm two days away from finishing them off.
I've been using Nasonex, Zyrtec, and Benadryl for severe allergies. It isn't working too well and my lymph nodes are also swollen. In a few days I'm going to have to see the allergist.

It depends on what type of antibiotics your prescribed and what part of the body your infection is in. Some antibiotics are prescribed for the lower body and some are prescribed for the upper examples are respiratory infections versus urinary tract infections so don't always think that because you are on antibiotics for one illness it will cover something else. You really need to see a ear nose and throat doctor to get a diagnosis. Strep throat untreated can be dangerous. This does not sound like allergies to me. But it is also good to see your allergist also to rule out everything. I am a registered nurse and hope this helps.
ITheI am having the exact same problem! When I swallow it feels like something is jabbing at my throat, like something is stuck almost. The feeling makes me sick. I get it when I sneeze or blow too much, maybe thats the problem for others. I'm not sure if it's strep throat because it goes away in a couple of days for me. :(
i have a really sharp pain at the top back left side of my throat everytime i swallow it feels like i am swallowing glass and i also have a lump on the left side of my adams apple and it somewhat movable like a knee cap PLZ HELP
i went to the doctors today and she wasn't sure if i had tonsillitus or not but gave a dose of antibiotics anyway, my throat is in agony and i feel like somthing is scratching it everytime i swallow its like a sharp pain almost like glass. i dont have any pus or white areas in the back of my throat but my tonsis are very swollen and red! it stings in the morning almost like i cant swallow at all with almost crying can anyone help me at all?:'(

It hurts so bad when I try to even take a breath through my mouth. I've been reading to gargle saltwater and get your tonsils looked at... Take antibiotics etc. I don't really want to have to go through all of that for the rest of my life.
Is there a safe alternative. Salt water is temporary and tonsils is out of the question (no insurance). Thanks for your help!
For me it feels like that popcorn kernel stuck in throat feeling, but i didnt eat popcorn. it hurts when i clear my throat and almost feels like a splinter, does anyone know why this is happening? im kinda scared of it, but i hope its no big deal :|
I've had all these same symptoms for the past two days but mine was just a sore throat before. I have been smoking a bit recently (like 10 ciggarettes in 3 days) and my mum doesnt know i smoke. I'm afraid if i go to the doctor, smoking will have caused this. Anyone know if I'll be ok? Thanks
I'm so glad I found this conversation. I've been having this issue for 3 days and I finally started to learn more about it. I just checked for the white bumps but, nothing and so I went and tried a cup of tea and it worked instantly. I'm making a Dr. appointment, everyone else should too.
Im feeling that right now n I have had this for like a week or so now.. It makemakes me.so mad that idk what it is.. I stick my finger back there to see if theres anything like food stuck.but I dnt feel anything >_
