I had the same pain when I was pregnant. A sharp pain like I was getting stabbed in my right hip. It would hurt the worst when I would try to walk. I have been getting the same pain the past couple days. When I was pregnant my doctor said it was a pinched sciatic nerve. He said she would kick it or sit on it and that would give me sharp pains. I have been having the pains for a couple days. It started after I tried Latin dancing. It makes sense to me. I hope this helped.

i have the same problem and my mother has had the same and she might be needing surgery, the doctors mentioned a tear in a tendon of some sort around the bone that cause's short-term pain. it might be from something like doing a sporting activity. i might be seeing the doctor sometime soon.

I'm 19, have tons of muscle problems in my lback and hips, lately sharp pains in my rift hip joint. Long term, exercises the strengthen the abdomen (my physician says yoga and Pilates, but pretty much any an regiment has worked for me) will take pressure off the spine and off of my hip joints. Staying active really helps me stay out of pain, if your problem is muscular, I suggest you try yoga for abs for a week or two, see if it works for you too.

This is a Hip Pointer

Your hip joint involves two bones. Your hipbone is called the iliac(pronounced: ill-ee-ack) crest and the top of your leg bone (femur) is called the greater trochanter (pronounced: troe-kan-tuhr). A hip pointer is a bruise to one of these bones or to the surrounding soft tissue (muscles, cartilage, tendons, etc.).

In rare cases, a hip pointer can also cause what's known as anavulsion fracture, where part of the bone is pulled away by the attached muscle.

STAY OFF IT, RELAX IT, AND MASSAGE IT.

I am currently experiencing the same pain but my pains are not specifically in the hip but more superficial. They do come in random srurts or in waves and nothing really relives them. I do work in the medical field and I believe it is from low back issues although I can not be sure.

The "electric sharp" type pains usually are nerve related.

My right hip has sharp pains, somewhere in the joint area. It usually starts to get like that after running, walking, or doing exercise activities. It only hurts when i take a step to walk and apply pressure on my right leg. Sometimes i also have the same problem with the joint in my ankle. Its been like this since 8th gr. and I'm a junior now, so its been 4years since i've had this problem.             -Let me know if you can help me or have any advice. Thanks

I'm having the same pain (not for the first time) right now--& for the past 2 days. In the past I've seen a specialist for this who has confirmed: lopsided sitting positions, angling the body over & over again in the same position to respond how our environment is set-up, i.e. my small at home media cube and computer chair--always careening one way and not the other. Even I have to remember to balance the movements....then too I've starting running more & oddly--can do that better than smaller steps indoors. Generally speaking, our body simply becomes out of alignment -- realigning, may mean a trip to a good pain specialist (I've forgotten the technical or professional name). . . followed by simple leg exercises. I believe in the least invasive approaches to this skeletal problems.

Eileen, I agree. My pain is also caused by imbalances over time. I.E. Laptop on the couch sitting sideways, leaning left when at desktop PC, Sitting position in car, etc. I have been seeing a physiotherapist who specializes in fascia. He is re working many of my posture misalignments but it will be up to me to identify these posture errors and correct them to avoid a reoccurrance.. Most bodies can handle a certain amount of imbalance, but can only reach a certain point. Another recent poster also hit the nail on the head when he said to strengthen his abs. I'm being told there is just a little more to it than that; it's the core muscles. Look up kegel exercises and pelvic floor strengthening. It has helped me greatly. These are the muscles that your back and your legs push against whenever you move. When they are weak, other muscles suffer from overuse. When they are strong, the body works effectively

I agree with the core and pelvic floor strengthening and of course the kegel exercises. I'm 63 years old, but have committed myself to living life as close to the age of 18--as much as possible. Also, there are only so many hours in the day. Still, even with my exercise regime, I often forget to: 'change things up.' All that you have mentioned--I have lately been deficient in. Also, after my posting this morning, I fell into a website that talked about 'leg swings, forward and 'just' drop lunges---I did those before venturing out for my 7 mile --uneven-terrain walk and did not experience the least pain. Returning to my condo, with it's tighter spacing -- it starts again. I WILL THANK YOU for reminding me about core, pelvic & kegels.

I have lived with MANY joint/back/hip problems over the years...I'm only 38. Most recently my right hip has started to give me issue. Same as many of you describe....also many of you have spoken of OTHER skeletal issues, pain am it has progressed over time. My doctor told me to strengthen my butt muscles. I was like..."really"?! Lol. Not kidding guys. I did some research before attempting exercise because I have to be very careful. Yoga and Pilates.... Here is a great video that describes the pain and the effects...and what u can do to help it. Will be good for your doctors to know as well. Can't believe many didnt suggest it to you to begin with. I take medication that this pain surpassed so this was what surprised me. I do not have any problems with that hip anymore :)

I currently have the same hip pain in my right hip. I'm 14 and my parents refuse to let me see a doctor. They think it will be all fine and dandy. I don't believe so. I rested it overnight, but that didn't work. I couldn't do anything about it. My parents believe they are so intelligent that they let that get in the way of what truly matters, my pain. It happens every time. They don't believe in doctors. My pain doesn't seem to be healing anytime soon and I have a soccer game coming up. I don't think that playing one today helped with it either. I think the source of my problem was from doing soccer toe touches with my soccer ball and I raised my leg too much. I think it may have been from when I bent my hip too much to make a pass? I'm not completely sure, but my parents aren't helping with it. I will not do this to my child when I'm older. Ignoring their medical issues isn't the right way to good parenting. Anyways, back to the subject at hand, if anyone is able to respond, please do. I need assistance quickly or I won't be able to walk on stage and accept my Volunteer of the Year award or make my speech at the Golden Scholars Ceremony. Please, someone out there help me
