I've been experiencing on and off discomfort for a couple of months now. It would last a few days, then go away, and come back after a week. Very brief and intermittent. It hurts on the left side when I swallow (sometimes after yawning too), like the top left of my throat, near the adams apple. Sometimes the pain radiates to my left ear, under my chin and jaw or at the bottom of my neck to the left. It's really weird... It wouldn't hurt constantly but it seems to be getting a bit worse these days. I do smoke but I don't think it's brought on by that.
I did get strep throat a couple of months back and I'm thinking maybe there's a lingering bacterial infection in there? I took some advil yesterday and noticed it seemed to alleviate the pain when swallowing. In addition, my left tonsil seems a bit swollen, but not necessarily red or with white spots on it, like some of you have described.
Anyhoo, this has been going on long enough that I'm going to the ER this week-end to get this checked. I don't have any other symptoms. Still have plenty of appetite, I go to the gym regularly. I do tend to drink a bit heavily on week-ends so maybe my immune system is having trouble battling this bacteria or whatever it is... I'll be sure to post an update and hopefully this will help some of you too!

I have the same problem and I was checked for Strep Throat (negative) and had a ultra-scan of my throat area (didn't find anything), do you think it could be an infection?
Why would anyone suggest cancer to another person. Rude
to anyone suffering with this, the solution is very simple! this has nothing to do with a soar throat but rather muscle tightness in the area. To deal with this, massage the impacted area with CASTOR OIL for 15 minutes and tightly wrap it with cloth and go to bed afterwards, taking off the cloth when you wake. do this every night until it goes away. it should go away quickly!
Why this happens and what are the symptoms i have same problem
you should not be telling people online with barely any information given that they might have cancer. jesus.
