Hopefully you are still with us, have you figured anything out?

Hi,

Ugh- saw ENT again- and I had a CT Scan and also a needle biopsy of lymphnode- he said the CT Scan made the node look normal and that the tonsil was a normal size- he did the biopsy because I was still worried/concerned. How about you- any update?

I'm just hangin in. It was "nice" seeing I'm not the only one with this, especially since it's difficult to explain sometimes. It looks like maybe there are some possible culprits, the cyst thing for instance. I guess more than anything I hope I've figured out this isn't going to kill me. I'm holding off on the poking and probing for now. Is there a FB page to stay in live touch? It would be nice to know how some of these Posters are doing.

Hello did you ever figure it out? I am now going on 2 years of the same exact issues that you 're decribing. I too have visited my doctor countless times, from blood test to barium swallow to miss diagnoses and so on. My issue started after I developed a sore and very itchy throat, it caused me to cough violently because my throat itched so badly specifically in a certain area, the left side of my throat just below my Adams Apple region. It all got worse when I had a violent cough session because of the terrible itch, this time I coughed so hard I felt almost as if something clicked or tore in my throat and at the same time I got a very sharp pain as of my throat was being stabbed. Ever since then I've have this deep sore ache in my throat specifically in that region, along with clicking just how you described as if a tendon is moving over another tendon, this happens especially when I would manipulate my throat. At times it would go away and it would come back either weeks up to months later, one things for sure It is extremely annoying and I really want it to go away. Sometime I feel it may Be something with my vocal chord, reason being is because at time my throat would get dry causing my to sometimes unable to talk because that area is affected as if it is dried up, and won't go away until I either swallow saliva or drink water. Either way I really really want to find answers, doctors have told me I have allergies to GERD, I've tried all those medication none helped. I just really want to find answers answers.

How long have you been dealing with this?

A doctor diagnosed me with hyoid bone syndrome and gave me an injection in my neck (he had emailed me the same study) but the injection has done nothing for me good or bad.  He cautioned that the surgery (that he has personally never done) will permanently alter my swallow but would trim away the offending bone.  Not sure what to do.

I have had some similar symptioms and I have had it diagnosed as eagles syndrome.  It is a rare diesease that is the calsification of the styloyd ligament and causes glosofpharengynal neuraliga.  I have been in lots of pain in my neck for three years.  It is in my ear area sort of behing my jaw.  This might not be what you have but it could be a possibility.

I have had some shots and been put on neuratin as well as steroid doses.  If you ask your dr for the steroid pills and they work the shot should really work.  The pills are cheep and the shot is very expencive.  I am having one more shot this week and meeting with a sergion at the end of the month.

I have not nearly felt the pain I have (left side, front neck about 2 inches down from the corner of my jaw especially when I turn my head to the right) for as long as the people who have posted comments so far... Just one day for me, last night I noticed it while I was in bed and paid no attention because I just thought it was a kink from watching tv on my side... Forgot about it all day until this evening again... I want to say it is a lymph node or gland I was putting on my PJs and felt it when I looked up to put on my shirt and now it seems to be a full throbbing pain that doesn't go away.... Did anyone ever figure it out? Or is everyone still suffering from it?!?! I can't imagine dealing with this for a long time with no answer

Did you ever figure this out I have all the same symptoms as you

Ok, we are a bunch having the same symptoms, let's all keep in touch since this is the only forum that I have found other people with the same issues, middle-neck discomfort, in one side of the adam apple, never been really bad but never has gone away, for sure not a sore throat, it feels outside the throat inside the neck, when it's bad, it feels like a bruise or a blister, when diminishes it feels like a tiny spot that doesn't hurt at all, had a CT scan and didn't show a thing, weird thing is since I was admited the night before, I was put on meds (Metadoxine and Iboprufen) and by the time of the study I was feeling great :(, so I am not sure if that is why nothing showed in the study...

Pain is insidious, more worrying than painful IMO, I am thinking on going with an ENT just to have my throat checked

I get the same exact thing the day after I lift heavier than I should at the gym. I've pinpointed bench press as the culprit. It's some kind of muscular strain from trying to force up the weight. I've had it 4 different times now over the past year and it happens after doing forced heavy reps with a spotter. It's a little scary but it has always gone away.

I've researched throat cancer due to hpv virus. Check out those 'similar' symptoms. Developed deep in the tonsils or base of tongue and may not be detected via normal 'cancer screening ' blood work

I've had similar symptoms for years. I've just looked at the lymph nodes of the neck and the soreness seems to corelate with lymph node locations. Pressing really hard on these areas caused acute pain temproarily and what felt like a release of fluid. There was lots of uncontrollable coughing while I was doing this. This gave me some temporary relief but was quite an uncomfortable process. Other problems I was experiencing led me to research MTHFR. I started taking B9 as folinic acid (NOT folic acid) TOGETHER with B12 as methylcobalamin (NOT cyanocobalamin) in the morning and a Magnesium with B6 and zinc before bedtime.

I coughed for about three weeks (quite severley between 2:00am and 5:00am) with no infection showing in what little sputum I brought up. It felt like there was thick, unmovable fluid at the top of the trachea. It was very difficult to clear this out even with extreme, foreful coughing. Apart from a reduction in other symptoms not related to this post, I found that the muscles around the throat almost to behind the larynx and deep under the rear jaw area finally released after massaging. The massaging technique I used was like applying trigger point therapy to these muscles, especially in the area where they 'attach' (?) to the trachea. It's now about four weeks after I started the vitamins and I no longer have the lumpiness and acute pain in and around my throat that I have been experiencing for the better part of a decade.

I hope this may help some people here.
