I was having the exact same symptoms last week for about a week. I had my thyroid removed a year ago and during the surgery they hit a gland that secretes calcium. Since then I have been taking lots of calcium. about a month ago I stopped taking calcium just because I felt like stopping. Bad idea!!!!! I was reading another post and they said lack of calcium was the problem. Yep they were right!!! Since starting back on the calcium and magnesium. Haven't had that feeling! It was not painful just irritating. Hope this helps!

I agree with the coffe theory. I have only started drinking coffee in the last few weeks and have experienced a vibration in my butt for the first time..

I hope somebody sees my post. I am a 19 year old male, and have been feeling this for a week or so, it feels like im being raped, or someones puting a feather up to my rear. Its really DISTURBING, FRUSTRATING AND ANOYING. I almost want to jump off a bridge.

I really hope there is a solution to this problem that should have never been.

Dark_red,
That is a good question, Im a girl n I first noticed the faint pulse rhythm vibration when I sat to urinate four days ago, and then when I am standing sometimes. I had a colonoscopy 3 months ago because I had discomfort in my rectum and they found some inflamation and a small hemhorroid. I too have a feeling its hemmorrhoid related, since hemmorrhoids are blood concentrated in the veins of that area.

I found what it is. You have pinched your scimatic nerve. It runs from your butt down to your leg. It happens if ypu push too hard on the john or if youre lifting something heavy. It happened to me after a heavy leg day at the gym. Just stretch it out. Look fpr scimatic nerve stretches on youtube

Stress, alcohol, caffeine, low-fiber diet, dehydration, skipping meals, overeating, electrolyte deficiency from poor nutrition, strenuous exercise (especially cycling), years of ignoring the sensation to poop or pass wind

I haven’t always been good to my body, but more recently I’ve been really trying to respond to what my body is telling me.  I went on a two-week juice fast to try to understand my body a little better.  This buzzing sensation was amplified as my fast progressed.

The buzzing is annoying enough during my waking hours, but it becomes intolerable when it is my wake-up call on mornings I would rather sleep in.  It won’t go away if I ignore it and it is impossible to ignore!  I do not necessarily experience a strong urge to defecate when I experience the buzz, although defecating can be a form of relief to the disturbing sensation.  Which made me come to think that the presence of fecal matter in the colon, however little there is, might be irritating the anus and causing the buzz.  Meaning the buzz might be a very weak signal to defecate.  This idea stems from my juice fast.  During the fast I juiced fresh fruit and veges for every juice feast.  I did not have the most high-end juicer, so there was a little fiber in all of my drinks.  The undigested fiber found its way to the colon.  Once there my colon was too inactive and there was too little fecal matter from fasting to properly stimulate a bowel movement.  Small amounts of insoluble fiber built up in the colon and the buzzing got more persistent.  I might have benefited from an enema.  I instead broke my fast, raising a white flag in response to the buzzing.  The following days, introducing whole raw foods slowly back into my diet, I experienced temporary relief.

Contrary to the above scenario, I also tried a low-residue diet and also experienced some relief from the buzz.  However, I got extremely backed up and was always uncomfortable and irritable.  So my whole “presence of fecal matter” theory seems to fall apart at the seams.

In one especially harsh episode the buzzing continued for days.  The relief I finally experienced was from a warm bath.  Other things you might try are stretching and, get ready for this, straining to fart when you feel the sensation. It might just be weak muscles and some trapped wind as another poster suggested.  How else do you explain the muted noise that accompanies it?

Maybe the solution is a matter of routine and stress management.  I now eat three simple meals a day, properly combined (google food combining), at equally spaced intervals, with zero snacking and my symptoms are a bit more manageable.  I eat a fairly complete diet, except I do not get enough Vitamin D and Calcium.  I’m going to try adding Vitamin D to my diet as Max suggested.  And it won’t hurt to try probiotics again.  Thanks for the suggestions people!

Some posters believe their symptoms vanished by changing one thing.  I find it hard to believe that it will ever completely go away, because stress has always been a large component to it.  For me, the buzz is just one of the several ways my body expresses stress.  It’s important to be mindful of that.

I have been experiencing the same thing. My first thought was an issues with the sacral nerves that lead to the anus. I'm going to ask my chiropractor on my next visit.

Having same issue, just started today but after reading through all the posts on here I can comfortably say its related to haemeroids and cycling. Both of which I have had and been doing in the last 2 weeks. Nothing to worry about just a bit annoying. I take fiber supplements as well so I don't strain in the loo but I can see why that would also cause the problem.

And I am a Hypochondriac!!! So don panic!

Guys, I experienced the same bizarre event, whenever I lay down felt like someone was texting my arse! Took a week to stop. My brothers a neurologist said its a trapped nerve so probably was. Happy to report time took care of it! Of course, in rare cases pressure on a nerve could be more serious, but don't fret unnecessarily, after all rare things are rare.

Like many on here I had the same issue. For me it turned out that I had a urethral stricture, a slight scaring of the urethra. The reduced urinary flow and increased blood flow to the damaged area caused a noticable pulsing of the anus. I'm not saying that's what caused anyone elses but this is what happened to me. the urethra goes right in front of the prostate. Try a Pee flow test and see if your below average.

I have been having the same faint vibration around my anus. It doesn't hurt but is extremly annoying.  I have just got over a virus/allergie type bug and have had the symptoms of vibrations ever since.  I have been awfully stressed with losing a parent but this feeling is new and unexplainable
