Hi Gibson, I am glad that you are doing well and were careful with the pain meds. Pain meds work and work when you are in real pain. I know its a slippery slope when taking pain meds after being done with them for so long. I do think your doctor totally over prescribed what you needed. Anyway day 22 and I have to say the last four days have been hell with the RLS and I am sneezing like a crazy person have you heard of this or know anyone that has gone through this? Patient1111

Yep. i had similar symptoms. I was sneezing a ton for a month. I'm honestly not sure why but I constantly had a runny nose and everything had a different smell. It's still like that.

As for the pain meds - I'm wondering if i should tell me oral surgeon that I'm in recovery so that I'm not tempted to take the script after I get my wisdom teeth out.

Hey JoJo

Thank you for confirming these symptoms. Honestly the RLS is killing me I can deal with everything else but that.

As for your oral surgeon, i think if you feel like you are not strong enough for the temptation definitely tell him about your addiction. You have come so far I would hate to read that you relapsed.

Thank you again my friend

Patient - the easiest way to get past the RLS is get the supplement Potassium and Magnesium, you can get that anywhere, they are 2 separate and not the combo type pills. Double the dosage. That will 99% take care of the RLS, take about 2 hours before bed time. The runny nose, no way around that. That's your glands getting 'reworked' more or less from the drugs which is a GOOD thing. Ibuprofen should help with it, but not a cure all.

Both you and Jojo - Superior progress, keep up the great work. MOST people don't even make it this far, so you have this one beat, stick with it!

FYI JoJo - The pain I had from the wisdom teeth pulled, I wouldn't' tell your dentist about the past. The pain you will be in, you will need it. Just follow the Dr's order and you will be ok. Once the pain is gone, FLUSH those pills.

This is idiotic. For the people that are actually afraid of getting off suboxone (or going onto it from their full-agonist opiate) DONT LISTEN TO THESE CLOWNS! Suboxone is BY FAR a better choice.

The mixed partial agonist/antagonist properties of the drug buprenorphine (the naloxoneis not bio available to any useful extent sblingually or orally) will likely give a mild, nagging withdrawl syndrome. But I ASUURE you, its nothing like the H, oxy, or whatever your favored poison is. FOR SURE NOT EVEN CLOSE to methadone, and whoever posted that suboxone discontinuation is worse is an outlier, or bull-sh*ter.

Get off the bad stuff, get on suboxone. I did you can too! I promise.

And for those worried to ever get off suboxone, I'm in the middle of discontinuation after a year of regulry (12mg) use I was a scandalous H addict. The suboxone withdrawal (for me - remember its different for all of us but generally mild) is just a nagging pain in my knees). You will do fine too!

Remember, if there is one thing that sets an opiate addict aside, we all love to b***h and moan about "being ill" or "dope sick" or "worst thing ever" or "there is a conspiracy" - Get over it people!! -

Congrats - I'm on week 2, and I kinda cheated too! I went and took 4mg 0- The knee pain got so bad... Beck down to 4 mg and the jump-off for me - You will be fine - Remember - Opiate addicts are really big babies about "getting sick" - Its engrained in us...

Franies525 - I would start taking the Imodium ASAP, you are right at the point where you start it. 8 tabs X 3 times a day (8am/12pm/5pm) for a week and then taper down 1-2 tabs day. 99% sure you will be fine (nothing is 100% in my book in this world)

Go for it. Worked for me and saved me!

I definitely do not quite agree with OP's post.  However since sub withdrawal can be real lengthy although not quite as intense as a shorter acting opiate it still seems worse because between day 4-15 it doesn't seem like you get much better.  I agree that getting off subs is a lot easier if you use oxy heroin or whatever you like to use rather than just cold turkey.  But taking opiates for 2 months to get off subs is pretty ridiculous. If you use your opiate of choice for about a week to 10 days you will be fine and not have to really Worry about the long lasting sub withdrawal. Yea you will for sure feel shitty after those 10 days are up because of the opiate use but if you keep your dose as low as you can just to keep you well then the withdrawal will be very manageable. Taking it for 2 months will for sure just put you back to where you were before you ever even started sub.  So that would just be extremely dumb because you shouldn't even have been on subs in the first place for that long unless you aware someone who has tried over and over to quit with no success. If     it's anyone's first few times taking sub then you should only be taking sub for between 3 and 7 days max just to get you through the acute wd.  And if you're someone who Has tried the quick sub detox and hasn't worked and you're on maintenance for a while then going back to your opiate for 2 months would completely waste any progress you made and will for sure be back to your old habits with probably an even higher tolerance.  And at that point then your questioning if you even want to quit again for a while. If anyone does this and your really considering going back to opiates for 2 months then don't quit the sub.  Just keep taking it.  No matter what you do ur gonna have to deal with some pain as I'm sure everyone already realizes.

Another good way to jump off opiates or subs is a quick methadone detox.  Get enough for just 3-4 days.  Fr example take 50 mg day 1,25mg day 2 and cut down half every day.  It won't work quite as wtell to get off the subs due to the fact they're both long lasting opiates.  But doing that methadone detox has been the most pain free withdrawal experience I've ever had scoring off h. Just really make sure you start your dose low because methadone is deceivingly powerful. And don't take it any longer cuz being addicted to methadone when your in a phase where your really trying to quit is gonna work out pretty shitty for you. And of course have Xanax for sleep or heightened anxiety.  Actually Valium is the best because of its muscle relaxing and pain relieving qualities but sometimes you just need that Xanax to knock yourself out if things start getting bad.  Good luck to all ppl on and trying to quit.  Hardest thing most ppl will ever do and whatever you do lol just don't go from sub back to opiates for 2 months  Haha that's just insanity

I've gotta say - the number of people that try to detox by substituting benzos/meth/other opiates is unsettling. As someone said before, as addicts we don't want to feel pain in any form (emotional, physical or otherwise). We just look for ways to get through it. I'm not saying that taking Immodium, magneisum or other OTC items is wrong - it's not. We're all different. But there's a reason that the majority of detox centers won't let you in if you're on anything. I had to get off of benzos before I could detox.

The point is that you're risking addiction to something else by substituting one drug for another. For me - it's about addiction not just one drug. Whatever makes the pain go away is what I want.
