Uncomfortable pressure under left rib cage

Hi --
For the last six months or so I have had uncomfortable pressure under my left rib cage. When I first noticed it I was sick with the flu and my husband made me go to the doctor. They did an MRI and ruled out any problems with my spleen, etc. It seemed to go away after that, but lately I have been noticing it again. I feel it when I am lying down and sitting down. I try to stretch or move into a more comfortable position but it just won't go away. Not painful exactly, just a dull ache and pressure. Any ideas?
Thanks.

Hey guys - I keep coming back to this thread after having a similar issue for 18 months. I have had all the tests and no answers. I have this too plus terrible hot flashes and night sweats though they say my hormone levels are fine. Any word yet?
Hi, I have read your comment about the lower ribs uncomfortable issue. Hows the result of your test by the doctor?

Has anyone thought of a Hiatal Hernia. Might be worth exploring.
I've had this same problem off and on for almost a year. Was told it could possibly be the pancreas and possibly relates to gallbladder

I have had the same problem going on two months. I started exercising more than I had in almost 2 years and I woke up one morning with this aching like a bruise in my left rib in the back. It was so sore. Some days it doesn't bother me as much more so when I stretch is out. I honestly think I have pulled something and it is hurting my ribcage. It is sore when I inhale very deeply but when I lay down and wake up in the morning it doesn't hurt. I can turn a certain way and it's so sore.
I had the flu in January 2019..a coughing spell led me to excruciating pain under my left rib cage which I chalked up to a strain of intercostal muscles and/or fractured ribs. I used icy hot, ibuprofen, Valium, heating pad religiously. I could barely get up or roll over in bed. I cried daily and in the night. Getting in and out of the car was awful too. It’s currently April 2019 and I still have a dull ache/slight pain in that area. Particularly when laying down. I have not visited a doctor bc I don’t have insurance and am still paying payments on an emergency room bill from last year.
I've been having the exact same problem. I know for awhile it felt like fullness like my ribs were sitting on something & it's uncomfortable sitting or driving. It went away for awhile, but for months now again it is causing a fullness & it's very annoying. It's not pain just like there's something there & my left rib sits on it & make me more uncomfortable. I have no idea what it is, but it's bothersome.
Sounds exactly what I've been dealing with for about 10 years now. No lie, 10 years. Im on here on a few posts going back 5+ years under TL Box.. Started as though my left rib was just sitting on something. Not painful but annoying almost like a fullness in my left side.. Its gotten progressively worse over the last 10 years. Last time I went to the my doctor (1.5 years ago) he seemed frustrated with me and asked "what do you want, to be scanned every 6 months?/" that kind of pissed me off as I haven't gone back to him in a while. He sent me to a psychiatrist about health anxiety (nice huh? like this pain/uncomfortableness is in my mind) and another gastro doctor who dismissed my concerns, so I went to 3 other gastro doctors till I found one who seemed thorough and listened to me. he sent me for an MRI enterography thinking it had some thing to do with my ulcerative proctitis progressing or another Inflammatory Bowel problem . But still no answers. Now after years of scans, blood tests, chiropractor, physical therapy, deep tissue massages, poking and prodding I'm in an aching type pain a lot of the time - went to the Chiro today actually for traction, muscle stem, and adjusting.. I drive a bus for a living (22 years) and that's when it bothers me the most. I put a baseball behind me when i'm in the seat now as a massage type action. I know what you're going through. Hope you've found some relief.
gastro problem possible
You just described exactly how I’m feeling. Went to hospital and had several tests done and nothing. Did you ever find out?
I have had the same "discomfort" under my lowest left rib for about 4 months. I really don't think it is gastro related, as I have no gastro issues/gas/etc. My thoughts: liver cancer. pancreatic cancer. fatty liver. Another thought is that my torso is "tilted" due to the fact that I have degenerative discs in my back and because of that, scoliosis. I will see my primary doctor in 2 months and ask her when I am there.
