Uncomfortable pressure under left rib cage

Hi --
For the last six months or so I have had uncomfortable pressure under my left rib cage. When I first noticed it I was sick with the flu and my husband made me go to the doctor. They did an MRI and ruled out any problems with my spleen, etc. It seemed to go away after that, but lately I have been noticing it again. I feel it when I am lying down and sitting down. I try to stretch or move into a more comfortable position but it just won't go away. Not painful exactly, just a dull ache and pressure. Any ideas?
Thanks.
Penny

I too have a pressure feeling under my left rib cage but the cause was from a tennis ball hitting my ribs at about 80+ mph (lacrosse dodgeball...) please let me know if anyone knows what could be wrong or if there is any way of easing the pain.
Thanks, Andrew
Are there cases that it can be to late?

I have been having an abundance of issues and this pressure under my left side is just one more thing. None of the docs seem to be concerned about what I'm experiencing. I'm open to what tests I can tell the docs to perform in an effort to figure this out. Or at least what doc I can see for them to figure it out. It is very uncomfortable but not painful. I feel there is something under my rib cage or something in my side. Its not visible and you can't feel it, I just know its there and I can feel it. I'm open to suggestions
Wow, I've been feeling pressure and a dull uncomfortable feeling under my ribs on left side and nausea for a few weeks, it started after ignoring my healthy eating for a year or so. I gained about 20lbs ... I'm a 70yr old cardiac patient....so not the best thing for me. I'm going to see my dr next week.. after doing some amateur research.. I feel it may be pancreatitis... Just had bloodwork done, so we'll see. Good luck to all!
My acid reflux causes shortness of breath and chest/rib pain when it flares up. I also get a bad taste in my mouth. I take Zantac when it happens and after a few days the symptoms go away.
This might sound crazy to most people here but I'm going tell u my story and what i did about it. I too had same symptoms for 2-3 weeks. A slight, dull discomfort feeling especially when sitting down. No pain, just a feeling under left rib cage at around the last rib and a bit towards the back side. Here's the crazy part: IT WAS A NEW DEODORANT I WAS USING!
that's right DEODORANT!! Some Deodorants active ingredient causes some weird symptoms. I know this by experience. First time it happened to me i had slight dull pains on my chest that would come and go at all times of the day and night. It wasn't a sharp or constant pains, just a slight pitches feeling that was always the same intensity, Never more or less. After a week i went doctor, did blood test, EKG test for the heart and everything came back fine. After tests i keeped feeling the same. I backed track everything i did for past 2 weeks around the time it started. I had bought a new different deodorant that i never used before. That was the only new thing i could think of that stood out. So that nite i got some organic, raw, unfiltered apple cider vinegar and clean my armpits with it and leave on overnight(ACV is great antibacterial solution and cheap). Did not put any kind of deodorant that nite. And next day that freaking feeling i had for almost 2 wks just disappeared, VANISHED!! Haven't used that deodorant since then and the feeling never ever came back.
My 2nd experience was with this discomfort feeling on my left side under my rib cage for about 2 wks also. Same freaking thing happened. I Started a new deodorant cause it was on sale and good brand, and these discomfort feeling started. Did same thing, got same apple cider vinegar, cleaned armpit, left on over night and next day 90% discomfort had gone away. Keeped with the regimen for 2 more days and by 3rd day 100% better. I know it sounds crazy but it worked for me so I'm just passing my experiences. The 2nd time i did the apple cider vinegar cleaning and also drank a DETOX tea 2 times a day to clean the bad toxins out of my system. So far I'm feeling normal with no symptoms at all. Hope this info helps someone cause i know the feeling of not knowing what's happening to your body with no explanations. Also Deodorants were good brands, not cheap no brand names. M------l and r---t g---d.
Here's what to use: any organic, raw, unfiltered apple cider vinegar "with the mother" label on it. NOT the cooking, filtered kind.
Also anything that detoxes toxins out of your body system. Teas, body cleansing solutions, etc. Good luck and hope u feel better
Have you found a reason for the bruises?
Its soooo worse with a bra on and its worse when I am driving home from work...UGH!!
I've been living with this same pain for 4 years now (i'm now 34). Went to the doctor for x-rays, ultrasounds, and blood work. Everything came back normal. It's a pain I basically deal with now because I'm not sure what to do about it. I also suffer from lower back pain so I'm wondering if it's tied together somehow. I may start going to a chiropractor to see if that helps at all. One thing I did notice was sometimes when i'm laying in bed when I roll over to the left side (where the pain is) I get a gassy feeling and burp.
I also had similar symptoms. I had a stinging pain just under my left rib cage and my left rib felt as though it had a tissue stuffed under it, a feeling of fullness. I had a CT scan which showed my organs were fine. I then had the camera down my throat (not very pleasant without the anesthetic) however it is over quickly without being put to sleep and the hospital staff were so kind.
Results were that I had GORD and a Sliding Hiatus Hernia. I will need tablets for the GORD and Hernia but with a healthy sensible way of eating I should be ok.
I have had the same light pressure / fullness under my left side ribcage for years. I have been looking for an an answer as well. I had some bloodwork come back showing a high red blood cell count. In checking with extended family on my paternal side, I found that my aunt has Polycythemia Vera. Symptoms can include:
Headaches
Double vision or seeing dark or blind spots that come and go
Itching all over your body, especially after you've been in warm or hot water
Sweating, especially at night
Reddened face that looks like sunburn or blushing
Weakness
Dizziness
Weight loss
Shortness of breath
Tingling or burning in your hands or feet
Painful swelling of a joint
***You may also feel pressure or fullness below the ribs on your left side. Those symptoms come from an enlarged spleen, which happens to some people. The spleen is an organ that helps filter your blood.***
This is extremely frustrating, as I have sought out treatment for so long and it was never identified. I still have more to learn about my own situation, but it's the first time I have come across a possible reason for the feelings in the left side of the rib cage.
Can I ask how high your RBC was? I too have many of these symptoms, and I have a slightly high RBC. Polycythemia Vera has never been mentioned as a possibility and I've seen over 40 doctors.
Just had a CT with barium and dye injection this week which nurse said came back normal except some inflammation in my intestines. Another year passes and i still have this pressure feeling like a fist is lodged under my left rib cage, i now occasionally get some pain with it as well...frustating.
