I can't edit my post so I have to post a new one.

I've just read the entire thread instead of the last few messages which I found in Google.

It seems some of us have a common issue, the use of anti-biotics.

I wonder if the use of them has upset the delicate balance of the gut working and therein lies the problem?

Just a theory and if it is correct I've no idea if it can be corrected.

My leakage just started. I think it was beause I tried to clean the area too well. I used a wash cloth for the first ime ever. After the cloth was when it started. I think the cloth irritated the area. Idid have a Doctor tell me as we get older Mother Nature is not as efficient.

Iam 72 in October.

I've only ever had things exit my anus before, never the reverse but I'm getting this white paste around my anus ring. I'm in my 30s and I live quite healthy. I'm not sure if this white stuff is discharge or if it just forms their like a puss of some sort. It's smell's quite strong, like a metalic fishy smell. It's got a weird texture like playdough. The only thing I can connect the smell to is a smelly vagina.
If I rub my finger on it, it will make my finger smell. I once done this and put my finger in my friends mouth and he said it tasted very bitter. I obviously never told him what it was but it was a good way to get more info on what it could be.

If anyone finds a cure or works out what it is I'd love to know.

IT SEEMS A PRIOR ANTIBIOTIC HAS KILLED OFF A NATURAL INTERNAL NICEGUY. THUS NOT REDUCING YEAST AND LIKEWISE CAUSES EXCESSIVE BOWEL HEAT. I SUGGEST, LAY OF BEER AND ANY HIGH YEAST FOOD OR DRINK, AND TAKE THE GARLIC.. MOST LIKELY U NEED TO EAT SOME BACTERIA TO REFORM WHAT BIOTIC KILLED OFF.

I did see a Colon Rectal surgeon, for a fistula resulting in a fistalectomie, Which may have made it worse for me. Seems to me that previous to this event, I did have an unusually sweaty bottom, I had noticed that my vehicle seat where I drive, had an Sheen where I always sit. Seems to coincide with my but crack. After my fistelectomie, Is when I have had a problem with stools for up to 2 hours after my last BM. My surgeon recommended to place a cotton ball there. in the rectal opening. He didn't recommend using TP Toilet Paper, I will while I am not home. I have notice that using TP may lead to more irritation. If I don't do anything, It get to bleeding so much that it scares me when I do finally clean up. My surgery has been 2 years ago now.
TArfs....

I am 25 years old,

I have all the same symptoms everyone posting has, however my girlfriend has HPV of course I did not know that nor did she, until a visit to the doctor.. Even though there is not a test to confirm that I have HPV, and in almost all cases men have no symptoms. I believe this "leaking smelly fluid" that we all leak is caused by HPV.
I may be way off (if so, somebody please tell me), or if you believe I might be onto something (let me know). One way (hypothetically speaking) if you have a girlfriend or wife, ask her to be tested for HPV. Thus having a lead as to if you may have HPV..(FYI, some women w/ HPV do leak as we men are leaking identical).

I want to know what you think?

Am I way off? or Am I onto something?..

I have suffered from this problem as a result of taking antibiotics (destroyed good yeast, which were replaced with bad/stinky ones!!) but seem to have gotten a handle on it.

Symptoms:
-fishy discharge that dried on underpants and smelled like dried excrement (VERY embarrassing in public!!)
-discharge stung in the anal region before apparently drying

Treatment:
-took concentrated acidophilus under the direction of a naturopathic doctor to regenerate good flora in the intestines
-goldenseal/tea tree oil in suppository form (I got them from my naturopath) to kill bad yeast in vaginal area
-tea tree oil rubbed in clean anal area several times over the weekend, showering after bowel movements to clean anal area
-after treatment with TTO (mind over matter...it gets better over time!!!) over at least 2 days and TTO no longer stings when applied, apply over-the-counter anti-fungal cream with miconazole (mine is 2% Derm cream by Monistat) in clean anal area and/or alternating with herbal salve containing calendula (I got my salve at ***edited by moderator*** web addresses not allowed good for all sorts of ailments!!)
-check anal area: if cream smells fishy after a few minutes, clean the area and reapply TTO as needed - the infection is still present
-after a day or two of applying cream, discharge should no longer be present, or decrease in volume/odour over time

There may be a couple of hours or a day when the fishy discharge is present, very smelly, but is rendered odourless by derm cream. Thus, it is important to check whether the derm cream is able to destroy or has destroyed the fungus before going out in public...

Good luck!

Hope this could help you!

Oh yes, in addition to my above experience, comments and treatment, I can attest to the fact that treating the yeast/fungus growing in armpits is best done with tea tree oil - if you check your armpits for odour often, especially a few minutes after applying deodorant or anti-perspirant (makes the area moist and aids fungal growth), apply tea tree oil upon discovering smell...after a few applications the fungus will have died and you should be good for a couple of days.

If you don't address the underlying yeast problems, your armpits will be troublesome on and off for days/weeks/maybe a lifetime if you're like me!!

Underlying my problems are an allergy to yeast and my latest bout of problems was due to having to take antibiotics briefly...I found putting myself under the care of a naturopath was very useful because a good one is able to see my the problems (armpit/anus/vagina/intestinal/allergy) as a whole.

Good luck!

Just a further note about the use of derm cream to treat the tail end of fishy smell in the anus - eventually, when the derm cream no longer works, presumably because all the fungus has been killed off and the infection has completely cleared. The cream will get smelly over time as other bacteria will move in. Since it is not due to the fishy smell/fungus the smell will be different. This means you no longer need the cream and you're now home free! I suggest checking the area and your underpants before going out in public at all stages through this process!!

Just keep the area dry and clean as much as possible (I time my bowel movements so that I am at home and can shower afterwards) and I usually use a towel dedicated only to drying the anal area.

I highly recommend the herbal salve from Rustic Soap Co., which contains calendula...good for areas where there was yeast/fungus/bacteria irritating the skin and making it itch. Very good for healing, but I recommend its use AFTER infection has cleared.

Hi All,
I've got a lot of the symptoms that have been mentioned. I'm 38 and have had this for the past 4 years now and it seems to get better or worse, but never goes away. I've tried lots of elimination of foods to see if I can identify a pattern, but it doesn't seem to matter. It seems that alcohol generally worsens the condition, but even that is not true some of the times.
I have noticed passing stools about once a week that seem to be accompanied with some smaller matter, as the water in the bowl turns 'cloudy', and generally the day after that the effects don't seem as bad.
I have seem my doctor and been referred for tests of the colon, stomach and anal muscles and have been given the all clear. There have been some haemorids but they have been described as small and I don't believe they have been the cause of my condition.
When all the tests failed to identify something the condition has been labeled as a form of IBS (which seems to be the catch-all term for those things the gatroentorologists don't understand.
I am going to try some of the suggestions posted here to see if it helps.
For what it is worth, I believe that it may be a bacteria-based issue too - I don't believe it is a physical/ mechanical problem.
Good luck to all with finding a cure.

It starts after Hermoroids. Its common, I have the same problem myself so dont worry. You may not have known you had hermoroids, they can come and go quickly without any signs. But ever since I had hermoroids this has happened me every single time.

Hey, I have had the same thing for months before and I just got it back! I had it before after taking a ton of anti-biotics. I had antibiotics about 2 weeks ago now and have it again. I definately see a trend. Read this article. I think this can help. Most western doctors were of no help to me either, you should try going to a hollistic doctor.(sp?)

Anyways, here's the site!
