See the nurse at your local sexual health clinic and get treated for BV. Bacterial vaginosis (BV) is a common condition of the vagina caused by an overgrowth of various bacteria (germs) which can be easily treated. Don't be embarassed and suffer the unpleasent smell anymore;BV is not a sexually transmitted infection.....
One week ago I had my IUD (copper I think) removed as my husband has now had the snip, it has been over 5 years since it was inserted. Just tonight I realized that for the first time in 5 years I don't Have a horrible smell down there and the lightbulb went off that this could be connected to the IUD removal. I searched and found all these posts with the exact same problem - I can't believe I suffered this embarrassing problem for so long!! My "remedy" was to insert a probiotic (one of those ones you keep in the fridge "2 billion good bacteria") pill in my vagina every 1-2 days and this helped keep the area smelling ok. As soon as I ran out or forgot to do it for a few days or was on holiday, back would come the smell. I was so self conscious during love-making and worried others could smell it - I am so happy that this is now going to be a thing of the past!
Thanks for sharing. I too have the same problem. Once the odor starts it just grows and grows. I feel so embarrased about the smell. I'm definetly going to give the RePhresh a try. Thanks again.
i also developed the same annoying problem about 6months after having the iud inserted. the brownish discharge which smelt so bad and embarassing. just when i had read the comments from other women did i tell my husband about it and was even thinking of starting to douch with vinegar. If that didnt work, i was going back to my gynae to have it removed. interestingly, i didnt have to do either of that. you will not believe what solved the issue. i started by drinking warm lemon water for one week and there after plain water 1.5- 2 litres every day. and voila, my body is back to normal. Try it guys, it could work for you.
I think it is the IUD that is causing her to have a smell. A lot of women that I know who had used the IUD complained about a smell.
