Anyone, get this same thing happen to them after consuming evn small amounts of vinegar..? So I am an avid eater of vinergar and cucumbers or vinegar and lettuce, shortly afterward I get a stuffy nose and congested head. I associated this together a few months ago but was in denial of me having an allergy to vinegar, I noticed it happened every time after eating italian dressing. I soon narrowed it down to the vinegar. Wow what a deal. I have gone 30+ years without knowing I have this small allergy to vinegar, anyone else have the same thing, and what are your symptoms..?

when i have pickled onions or chips with lots of vinegar i go hot and sweat a bit. but nothing to bad
I have had this problem for a long time (Not sure it's really a problem). When I eat Dill Pickles (I make them) or put mustard on a sandwich or hot dog bun, the top of my head either gets hot or sweats depending on how much I eat. I'm wondering if it's just the vinegar that causes this. I don't know if I am allergic or if it's normal. I couldn't imagine not eating a pickle anymore but I have to wonder if it could cause other medical problems. I don't have any hair on the top of my head thanks to my relatives and heredity but that is the only place I notice anything like this. Hum, wonder if that's why my hair fell out. Of course with any real hot spices, sweat will happen as I would think is normal. Not sure it's worth seeing a Doctor about but I would like to know if I'm allergic to vinegar products.
I just started see a reaction to vinegar. I keeps getting worse. I am going to try to not eat vinegar anymore, but its so good. My symptoms started out as being a slight stomach ache, but now I have a large stomach ache and a head ache.
I searched this topic because of my own unexplained experiences with the smell of vinegar. Even the smallest whiff of the stuff, and I begin vomiting as if I had been poisoned (it sounds like I'm being dramatic, but seriously, it's that bad). I bar tend par time, and refilling the olives in the fruit tray is torture. As a child, I couldn't dye Easter eggs without vomiting, I believe now because of the vinegar that is mixed with the dyes. I can't do it now with my own kids. Tabasco sauce, I'm done for the night. And we cleaned the bathroom the other day with nature's safe 'vinegar and water' mixture. I now need a new esophagus, lol. Point is, I hadn't put it together before, nor have I had it diagnosed, but I believe I have a reaction when I smell that nasty stuff? Glad to read that others can relate, I was starting to think I was odd :-)
I also vomit violently if I smell vinegar. Distilled vinegar specifically I think? Even Tabasco sauce gets me. But I can handle the smell of pickles? Is it an allergy?
IN NARROWING DOWN MY IMMEDIATE RED FACE FLUSH AND SWEATING HEAD AFTER EATING CERTAIN FOODS, I FOUND VINEGAR WAS THE COMMON ITEM. I LOVE VINEGAR. WHAT ELSE CAN I USE TO GET THE SAME FLAVOR?
I am 40 years old and just started having a sweating reaction to certain bbq sauces. My whole head sweats as well as under my eyes. It's almost to the point of comedy. When I eat bbq with friends, they just wait for it to happen. Thankfully, not all bbq sauce makes this happen. I assume different sauces have more or less vinegar or a different kind of vinegar.
Yes, I am not alone! Every pore on my face opens up and pours sweat whenever I eat ketchup, mustard, BBQ sauce, and salad dressing. This has been going on since I was a teenager, and in recent years I have been suspecting vinegar. This is very frustrating because I LOVE condiments. Anyone have any solutions??
I am looking this subject up as I also have profuse scalp sweating when I eat mustard or any sauce with a strong vinegar base. I have had this problem for many years. After eating a hot dog with mustard in it or BBQ with Texas Pete (not really hot but strong vinegar), my scalp is soaked and I look like I just took a shower. This seems to be a reaction from taste buds rather than from my stomach. I would really like to understand this reaction.
Ever since I have been little when I eat vinegar my head is the only thing that sweats, no other part of my body. My doctors have had no explanation either over the years. Now in my thirties I have since developed additional problems with my scalp ie: like phsoriasis, however, when I had a biopsy it was negative to everything phsoriasis, dermatitis, etc.; complete bloodwork has shown all levels to be within normal range including vitiamin levels, thyroid, etc. My doctors, two dermotologists have no idea of the cause nor did my allergist who did complete allergy testing and patch testing of products I use; all negative results. I have recently found a connection to these symptoms worstening to vinegar, wine (alcohol). I am interested in knowing if anyone else has experienced scalp rashes or dry skin of the scalp as a symptom they associate with vinegar or wine.
Eating vinegar (dressings, condiments, etc.) Has always made me cough. It takes my breath away as if my body does not want me to swallow it.
All I have to do is smell vinegar, i get a really nasty taste in my mouth, my stomach cramps, eyes water & itch, and i get really nausious, start spitting up, throwing up.....after an hour or 2 it gets worse. Then I am fine. Anyone get these symptoms???
Interesting. I may have a minor intolerance to vinegar, any amount makes me start sweating. I (luckily) don't have the other symptoms.
I get exactly the same thing! I've had it all my life, I remember it the most from eating pickled onion crisps. At first I thought it was the normal reaction to vinegar but I eventually figured it out. But I'm not sure what it is anymore, because I find myself starting to react even when I think about vinegar now. Also, I get the same reaction when I eat a lot of pineapple. I've never let it get to the point where I feel like I might pass out, but the heat, redness and sweating lasts a while and is extremely uncomfortable.I'm considering asking my GP about it, I'd like to find out a bit more about it really.
I think I just had an allergic reaction to vinegar. My throat closed, I couldn't breathe and turned blue. I had numbness (tingling) in myupper body and extremities. This happened in a restraunt just a couple hours ago. My first bite of food was greens with vinegar. Thesmall amount of vinegar went down my throat but the greens remained in my mouth. 911 was called but I finally began to breatheand 911 was cancelled. I am still feeling the effects of that episode. It's was a very frightening experience. I would like to know ifothers have had this type of reaction...
