I had the nova sure and tubal done today.
All the pain I have been having is the air stuck in my stomach which is causing shoulder and back discomfort other then that it hasn't been painful but all im doing is sleeping, eating and drinking lots of water.
Just listen to the doctors and you will be fine.
Good luck to the ones that are going to have it or already have had it.

Kimmie Divver- Frye I am sorry that the procedure didn't work for you. I hope your healing and feeling better. I do want to say this to everyone else out there who is thinking about this procedure. Talk to your Doctor and if your not 100% sure on what they are telling you, get a second opinion. Unfortunately, people have different results. I went for two opinions based on my circumstance.
I had Novasure procedure on Nov 30, 2012. That day I got my period, my cramps were out of control. I am a full week into recovery. The first day I slept, the 2nd day I decorated my house for Christmas, I flew for business on 4th day. I had mild cramps most of the week. The only day I took pain meds was the 1st and 2nd day after that it was Ibuprofen. I am still dealing with a light pink watery discharge which I was told can last for 3 weeks. This is not ideal, but I would rather this then the pain I was dealing with. Ladies, no tampons and no sex for 4 weeks.
I am grateful so far for this procedure, not sure what my true results will be, but it has to be better than the pain and prolonged bleeding that I was suffering each month. Make sure you keep moving that really helps in your recovery. I wish anyone considering this surgery the best of luck and quick healing.
Im just over 3 weeks still discharge with some off and on spotting. Saw the dr for my follow up this evening and he says considering I had a very enlargened uterus and that this was the only proceedure short of historectomy that was a possible solution. He did say I was still swollen some and still take ibuprofen daily and call him in a week if the spotting ect doesnt stop in a week. Glad Im not the only one having this issue!
I am scheduled for this procedure Jan 10/2013.
I "pour" most of the month , spot the rest of the month so I am truly used to wearing a pad or panty liner!!
BUT... I am really hoping this procedure puts an end to all that.
My surgery is on a Thursday - and I am back to work Monday - so I am hoping this is sufficient rest time.
My question to all of you - how much did you feel-hear during the procedure? I am under the impression you get IV to make you doopy, but are not completely "under". Is this correct ?
I have had the procedure done last week. It is seven days now. 1st I had pinkish discharge which turned red on the 3rd and 4th day. then it went back to pinkish and is still there. Maybe straining for bowls effected it? Also I am rather upset since the Dr. did not tell me that this discharge can continue for much longer than just a few days after. Also i did not get clear guidance as far as exercising. I really would love to go back to my jogging and am afraid to aggravate the uterus and cause excess bleeding. also how about stomach exercise does that harm anything? Yes, I also am experiencing moodiness and wondering about it since my Dr said the ablation has nothing to do w/hormones and I just IV sedation, and it was a whole week ago!
not necessarily BETTER DOCTOR! Very clearly these procedures affect everyone differently
Hi Shelley, I had my hydrothermal ablation on Dec. 6, 2012, and it went fine (so far). Immediately after the procedure, I did begin to cramp badly. Something my Dr. had informed me of, and was prepared for, because I did a ton of research prior to. The cramping felt like child labor at it's peak. That went on for about 6 hours, then I had a good nights sleep. The next morning, I had very littel cramping, and stayed in bed for three days post ablation. When I finally rose, and attempted my normal routine, I found that walking the stairs made me cramp, so I took it easy. I will say, realistically, give yourself some days to be able to just rest in bed. Take small walks (no stairs, just enough to not get blood clots) several times a day to get your blood flowing, and your body reacclamated to moving about normally. Also, I found walking in stores, on the hard floors, and outside made my stomach cramp as well. Your body have to heal still, so take it easy for at least an entire week, then start moving about as usual, but still be kind to your body. I have brown discharge still, but I'm noticing it seems to be lightening up. Everyone's body is different, so we all heal in our own way. But, if you take care of your body, it will take care of you. Even though having an ablation is minimally invasive, it is still a serious process your body undertakes, so take it easy, and allow your body to heal, slowly. You'll be glad that you did…GOOD LUCK!
I had a novasure a few years ago and i still have periods and i have terrible pain 3 days before my period starts and while I am on my period it is just on my left lower side. i have been checked out and no one seems to know what is wrong with me so i just live with the pain.
Hi there, I had a Novasure on 4th Oct 2012 and still have periods also, and disappointedly heavy although the clotting does seem to have stopped for now. I have been back to see my consultant and he has told me it wasnt successful so I guess I am one of the 10% failures, Went through a really low phase as was hoping to get my life back so now have to decide on next step. My options are further removal of womb wall or hysterectomy which I dont really want either!! I also have pain on my left lower side which I thought was my fibroid, they didnt remove this when they did the novasure even though I thought they were going to, so still not sure if thats why I am getting the pain?? Doesnt really seem like anyone has the answers :-(
Hi ShellyMay,
when you are "under" you do not remember anything later. I totally do not remember leaving my pre op room or coming back. I just remember waking up later in my room. So like I said IV sedation is enough to not remember a thing . Do not worry! and good luck w/everything.
i just had mine done yesterday and I was totally out. I remember pre-op and post-op...came home and slept for many hours. I feel good today, minor cramping a little discharge. I had a tubal ligation done as well. I have not needed the pain meds they gave me, and took motrin yesterday and none today. For me no exercise for 2 weeks but I will go back to my regular non-exercise routine monday.
so sorry to hear :-(
