I've seen 4 different dentists, never had braces, been checked out by the periodontist, 3 neurologists (one said triminial neuralgia...cure: meds, one said inflamed nerves...cure: laser and vitamins and one said that I needed to see an atlas orthogonist, which I did for 8 wks but without relief so she's now suggesting bio feedback to basically ignore the annoyance. Also called on 2 allergists which neither had any clue what to do.  Spoke to an accupuncturist recently and directed her to this site in hopes she would investigate and realize the huge demand. I'll keep you informed.

Have been to 4 dentists, had my gums checked, 3 neurologists (one said triminial neuralgia, one said irritated nerves and suggested vitamins and laser, and the 3rd suggested an atlas orthogonist work on my neck and alignment (also said the first 2 were wrong). Tried the atlas orthogonist for 8 wks 2x/week with no relief. Now she suggests bio feedback so I can learn to just ignore it. Also tried 2 allergists. Nothing. It's crazy! I've told several dr's about this site but none seem to be interested enough. My most recent mention was to an accupuncturist. No word yet. Never wore braces. No one in my family has this issue. And like everybody else on this ...it's the bottom front teeth. There's got to be an answer.

Praying a solution is found soon.  I now use tooth soap has helped a little it still there.  Honestly I don't know how I have not gone insane with this itching in same spot in gum.  I do have a crown which might have nickel in it.  I read to tape a nickel on your wrist for 3 hrs and if wrist starts itching or turns red you are allergic to nickel.  I am going to try that even though where crown is does not itch, but who knows.
Testing over the weekend and see what happens

I answer to the question several replies ago...no, it doesn't make me tired. It started about 1.5 yrs ago at 49, before menopause. Last week, I asked my OBGYN if it's possibly hormonal and she said no. (I'm a woman obviously). And I will also try the Tom's toothpaste. Running out of doctors.

OMG I HAVE THIS TOO.

I havent really kept track of when it started but when it starts to irritate me  i tend to prod my teeth with something sharp

i have no past records of allergies and that but at the moment i am aching all over and feel the need to cough- could this be cause of  a cough or cold?

when i ask my parent they look as if ive gone crazy- hope though the dentist will be able to help as im going next week...

i brush every morning and use colgate tooth brush and paste!

hopefully someone can help :)

I just found out that it could be the post nasal drip. I have rhinitis. I don't like it either.  my dentist had me and five other patients with it and she cannot find anything with the teeth.

I also have had a tremendous amout of dental work done so It could be stress related but my feeling is is that it could be allergies and sinuses. I am going back to the dentist anway next week for what has to be done.

Hope this helps you. Joan Koehler

I checked with 2 different allergists and both said it's not allergy related. I'm beginning to think it's all stress related, unfortunately

Oh I'm so so glad there are other people who suffer with this! My dentist looks at me blankly and has sent me to the dental hospital for investigations, I also work at a dentists and they have never heard of it either.. Although they know I'm not making it up as I'm constantly itching my gums or putting pressure on them when I have a flare up. It feels like I'm teething or something, and I just want to almost knaw on my knuckle :/

I get mine on the upper right 2, palatally on the upper right 5/6. I have recently started getting it in my lower right canine, and 5/6. During initial investigations with my dentist, they found i have an impacted wisdom tooth that is pushing on the root of the 7 which might be causing some tracking.. But the dentist cannot be sure. And it doesnt explain the itching on the lower right which is actually worse that the upper right ever was. Has anyone else had any kind of explanation?! I've had it on off for 5 years (lower right for about 3 months), ever since I had a veneer replaced (on the opposite side though, strangely).

The only thing that gives any kind of relief for me is numbing gel, but it wears off quickly. I might try warm salty mouthwashes but I doubt it'll help

We believe we found out the problem. I broke it all red spots in my mouth with a  little white.  i went back to dentist and she look at what was itching and she saw white and believed it is candida.  I went to my internist and she now believes it is yeast.  off sugars and yeast and not easy and using nyasttatin rinse three times a day.  Cannot use mouthwashes at all.  quit medications that make a dry mouth and decreased one. It is going take a while and it can be from a tremendous amount of dental which I have had. oh my.  Hope this helps anyone.

I was encouraged by your input but I don't have any white or red patches anywhere in my mouth. Happy for you that you

were able to figure out your problem though.

have you been to an oral surgeon or dentist.  I have had so much dental work from mistakes made.  I am going to follow the candida diet.  Maybe you should go dairy free and gluten free. I am.  You should try it.  Joan Koehler

Thanks for commenting back tome.

Have been to 3 dentists, oral specialists, 3 neurologists, internal med., 2 allergists, an atlas orthogonist and an accupuncturist. I've had x-rays, cat scans etc. The final suggestion was to have bio feedback so i can ignore it.  Tried not taking my vitamins to see if I was having a reaction to them. I'm willing to try anything. It's been 2 years now.
