allergic to most antibiotics

Hi, I am allergic to most antibiotics, so when I get an infection it’s almost impossible to get a medicine for me. Even when I get a safe antibiotic, I always take it with fear of having allergy or side effects. Is there any other option for me, except antibiotics?

I don't know for sure, but I've been suffering with an antibiotic allergy for 16 yrs. The only thing that was able to take was Avelox until I had a mild stroke 2 yrs ago at age 41. I since have been diagnosed with lupis which they believe I have had for about the same amount of time. You might want to check with your doctor to make sure about that face and chest rash. Anyways, I still can not rake any medicines or antibiotics. I too cry by myself daily wandering what I am going to do next time I need meds. God Bless you and all of us, and I pray a cure comes quickly.

Hi you all I am in the same boat. I have found that olive leaf extract works well for antibiotic and noni juice for pain. Natural is the way to go. My doctors ask me how i am going to treat my ills. Wish you all good luck
These are new to me. I will try them. What brands do you get and where do you get yours. Not all brands are the same or as good. Does the olive leaf seem to work for all kinds of infections and as a preventive too? I need them before dental visits or any proicedure where I could get a nick and open my blood system to bacteria. I have MVP.
Thank you for sharing.

Thanks for the info. Unfortunately I am also allergic or sensitive to all Probiotics also. Cannot eat yogart, anything with yeast or cultures, nuts, shellfish--the list tis too long to print. I have a diet that lists all the things I can't have because they give me Migraine. I have to deal with the Migraines in addition to the Allergies. But I hope you will keep posting if you have other info. I,m desperate.

I too would like to know if you or anyone else has heard from Mayo? What about the CDC (Center for Disease Control)? I was referred to an Infectious disease doctor but she will see me anymore because I can't take any antibiotics. It's almost as if she blames me! I have been hospsitalized 5 times in a year with UTI's that acan eventualllly kill you. After a while they enter the blood and then can infect other parts of the body. As I said I am afraid I will die from this.

I am allergic to all antibiotics, steroids, statins, and latex. I wear a medical bracelet with these allergies listed. I also carry in my purse a 2 page list of all my medications, including all those that I am allergic to. It also reads in bold caps that no new meds can be given to me without consulting with my allergist. I list his name and contact information. I give this information to all doctors whom I am seeing, and if one won't respect it, I go find another
When I had an allergic reaction to any of these drugs, the only person who could get the itchy rash all over my body to disappear was my Chinese acupuncturist. He warned me that these drugs were going to cause problems in my liver. He also gave me a Chinese herbal tea which helps to stop the itching.
I see a homeopathic Dr. (she is also an M.D,) who has given me homeopathic meds to build up my immune system, and they are very helpful in keeping me from getting infections that would require antibiotics to treat.
It took me a long time to find a Primary Care Physician who would respect my allergies and
take me on as a patient. A friend finally told me about the Joan H. Tisch Medical Center, where all the Doctors are women, and there I was able to find a PCP, who took me on as a patient. I am very gratified to see how many people have these allergies, and are fighting
to get medical research on this problem. But I find that most doctors just want to write a script for antibiotics and have you leave their offices.
I have also been treated by doctors in NYC Med clinics which have popped up all over NYC and other parts of the country. They are very respectful of my allergies and when I had bronchitis treated me by prescribing a mask device which I attached to a Combivent Respimat to use as an inhaler, and it cleared up my bronchitis in a reasonable amount of time.
I hope these suggestions help people. It is a very maddening, frustrating, and scary situation to be in. I feel fortunate to live in NYC, where some doctors seem to be hip to my allergies. I would like to hear from any other people who have found solutions to this problem.
Where are these med clinics exactly?
