Audible noise when moving my eyes

This doesn't happen always, but between 5-10 times a week I will hear (or appear to hear) a noise which vaguely sounds like someone quickly ripping a piece of paper or cloth when I move my eyes from one point to another (left to right, up to down, etc). I guess I'm just trying to figure out is this really happening, or am I suffering from some type of auditory hallucination? There doesn't seem to be any single set of circumstances it occurs in. Has anyone heard of anything like this?

I am getting it too and I don't know what it is.  I could not find anything online to tell me what it could be.  It is driving me crazy.  Also, not only does it sound like ripping paper, I feel pressure in my chest.
I have the same thing. It started as tinnitus that was constant a few years ago and now this new sound like paper ripping or the light saber has been added when i move my eyes or my head. It is very annoying. At least the tinnitus was constant so I could try to mask it but this comes and goes above the tinnitus.
I have read more than one place that this could be due to withdrawal from an antidepressant.  With me it's really bad when I go off imipramine which also happens to be an antihistamine. I have recurrent sinusitis even after sinus surgery. I of of the non-medical impression that the imipramine is suppressing some level of inflammation of the sinuses and when it's gone, the problem gets worse. I have no proof of this & I'm not a physician. It just seems to make some logic sense to a reasonably intelligent layperson.  Note that the imipramine is a tricyclic antidepressant, and not the same thing as SSRI's like prozac, paxil, effexor, wellbutrin, etc.
Sometimes when my eyeballs move, it is like my heart sends out a sudden shock that affects my balance and I hear my eyeballs move like in a horror movie when the camera closes in jumps, like whip, whip, whip. It is like being dropped just a little bit in an elevator several times a second
That's a good description to how it affects me. Now try using a antihistamine and see if it clears or changes.
Please tell me that you are still here after posting this in 2009! FINALLY someone else has the same thing I do. And it's NOT fluid in my ear!
I have the very same thing. I move my eyes and hear sounds in my head. Not sure if it's from my ears or what.
I get this constantly when im tired or stressed. After a bit of research it seems to stem from withdrawal of anti depressants. Cholesterol meds or antihistamines. I am hoping it wont last too much longer as it is stressing me so much i feel like going back on my old meds. Although my depression has cleared up. Search up star trek door eyes. As thats what a lot of people call it. Please let me know if yours has gone and how long it took.
The noise vanished when I discovered Zyrtec. I thought all antihistimines were pretty much the same. But Zyrtec nailed my horrible head pressure and eye noise, which appeared along with Ragweed season. I wish they had Zyrtec 30 years ago, I would have had a much better quality of life.
I get this woosh sound now and then. I have had it about 4 days with this recent spell. I read here about it being maybe from not taking depression medicine. It just so happens that I have been out of my paxotine for about a week. Just got refill today.
Hi. I went off all my meds cold turkey in July after 12 years and had that for about a month bad! Still have major trouble sleeping & with my eyes and ears. Hoping Zyrtec helps. I know meds help.alot of peeps, but in my case, getting off them gave me back a major part if my cognitive thinking that I didn't even know was hidden in a fog. Very glad I didn't realize I was going through withdrawal symptoms until the worst was over or I would have most surely gone back on them immediately. I will never take Effexor Klonopin Adderall or Seroquel AGAIN! LostADecade
HiIVe associated the eye sound with anit-depressant withdrawal aswell. If i stop venlafaxine for more than 2 days the noise starts up when moving eye from side to side.
You know, I never thought of that but it is interesting, because after I take my "night pills" I do get a stuffy nose. If it's ok, do you mind telling me what kind of nose surgery did you have?
I was wondering if anyone else had a similar set of circumstances. I hear the sand paper on wood sound most noticeably with balance loss when i have even small amounts of alcohol (one beer). I was exposed to two IED blasts within 20 feet and have tinnitus as a result and I was diagnosed with depression and am now just coming off my meds. (recommended by a doctor). I recently went to an ear nose and throat doctor and he didn't find anything wrong. I know I have a relatively obscure set of circumstances but Im hoping someone out there went through the same thing and has a remedie.
