Hi everyone I had my Gallbladder removed about 8 months ago and ever since i wake up at 4am with severe pain in the same area with back pain the same as the bile duct pain cause a few days after surgery the pain in my back was so bad even on double dose of pain killers so they figured the stones had gone to the bile ducts anyway I was fine for about amonth but ever since the pain comes and goes i have been to the er twice done xrays cts its hard living in pain all the time and not getting sleep. I am on anticacids but its not helping...but i did notice if i eat cereals for breakfast and have grilled chicken and fish with veg a light meal for lunch and skip dinner completely the pain goes away! I had dinner last night and wish I had not! another thing is on days I skip my daily walk the pain is far much worse! I took a probiotic for amonth a gi recommended it....it worked like magic after one week....I am going to get it again..because its so hard to eat a very strict diet and i will try my best to eat small portions I meet someone who had been in this pain for 2 years until they ate allot of veg and fruit whole grains and no fats and 4 or 5 small meals ...walked and took that probiotic activia yougurt and he said he has not had pain in 3 months! i JUST WANT IT TO GO AWAY! no one tells you it can be this bad..this dull suttle pain is like torture all the time I take pain killers all the time.....but I will work on this diet and probiotics maybe its the key to get the balance back this man I met said it worked for him..... o.O

I just have started to find more people talking about this online. I had my gallbladder surgery in 2005, and my symptoms did not all go away. It turns out that I am one of the lesser percentage that the bile is overproducing. It stripped me of my vitamins, Vitamin D, calcium, phosphorus, and Vitamin B's. My parathyroid went through the roof. It took 4 years and 9 doctors to try to figure out why I felt so bad. I have had to go onto cholestryramine--which I had a rare reaction to it as it made my liver enzymes elevate; and vitamin D 11000 units a day, etc. But, I am able to take half the dosage, not feel like I am 90, and lose 17 lbs. I had horrible side effects and I was loosing my mind, literally my memory. My bones hurt all the time, my kidneys, my intestines, fevers. I was running to the bathroom all the time and I was so weak. I still overheat and I am trying to figure out why about that too.  I eventually had to go to Cleveland Clinic to get anyone to do something and listen. Don't give up! Oh, lastly, I got on a blog about similar symptoms, particularly Chron's and Celiac Disease, and they said coconut macaroons work--the archway brand. And it did! I hope some of this helps, and you all get better :)

4months atfter having my gall bladder taken out, the gall bladder attacks came back! Just mildly at first, then I started eating healthy and didnt have them for a month.. Now at 5 months post op - I went of track with my eating and had a bad attack yesterday at lunchtime after eating crumpets with maple syrup - lol. That night pain was still mildy there but also I felt very dizzy and had an urge to vomit. The next morning I feel dizzy again and my pee was dark orange! That is not right is it? Should I go to docs? What tests should I ask them to do?

Hi,
Wanted to know if you did get a root cause and cure for this pain. It sounds exactly like my wife's condition. She had a GB surgery a week ago. The doctor is getting us through various tests....

Just wait a while for all pains to fade before she feels any better.. Did she get her gall bladder taken out or just the stones?

I had my gall bladder removed in Feb of 2012 first I had a small bowel infection, then a bacterial infection in my kidney, now all I have is back pain, they removed a stone larger than a golf ball, have had MRI, colonscopty, CT scans, constipation, gas, bloating, severe heartburn, this surgery was a waste of my time. My recovery was ok to, but now I am so tired, and I am sick of taking pills. My regular doctor says I should go see an Internal Medicene doc, my GI doctor just doesn't care anymore.

Had my gb out 6 weeks ago. Nothing but back pain since. I'm told it's nothing to do with gb surgery. Am now scared stiff it might be related to the pancreas. Seeing surgeon in 3 days.

Saw surgeon yesterday. CT says pancreas OK. He is at a loss at why symptoms haven't changed, although he did indicate that maybe the gb was not the problem in the first place!! (So why take it out?) He now wants to do a sphincter of Oddy test. Entails morphine injection into sphincter to see if it is working correctly. In the meantime, still got nausea, tired, back pain and stomach pain. Sometimes wonder if we are just guinea pigs

I have had my gal bladder removed 12 months now and have severe back pain ever since as well as pain in the area where my gal bladder was. I've gone to the emergency room 3 times and have had all types of tests done and nothing is found either. It's impossible to even work an 8 hour shift and at this point is going to cause me to either get fired or have to quit due to i cant function at work due to the pain. It's driving me crazy! i cant sleep, sit or stand for long period of time. Has anyone attempted to file disability or know if this a qualifying health issue?
