In reply to the person who wanted to know my story, unfortunately here it is .My experience with opioid w/d's is a very long and painful story. I started off taking Perc's about 12 years ago, from there I moved on to OxyContin, Fentyl patches (worn, eaten, and smoked) and then I jumped off the deep end and went to H. I managed to control my addiction with the help of Suboxone, this helped me for about 5 years. I really wanted to get off of the Suboxone because it really made me feel foggy and "not quite all there". I did get off the Suboxone (not fun!!). I hurt myself, and rather that the doctor prescribing me my drug of choice (Oxy, obviously they couldn't give me H), so they gave me Dilaudid instead. I got that first taste of a full opioid in my system and it was love all over again. I totally forgot why I had to quit all those years ago, it was ruining my life, robbing me of a life that could have been filled with joy and peace, and replaced it with a life full of seclusion and being broke. Now I'm back to square one, taking Oxy (I haven't done H though) and also finishing my scripts way too early. This is no way to live. I refuse to go into a detox center because like others here, I've already been in and out of one, and I found the process very humiliating and degrading. I found this site not to long ago, I knew that Imodium helped with w/d but I thought it was just for the "bathroom" aspect of it. Now I'm trying to get up the courage and try them for full out w/d. I've been taking two 80 mg Oxy's a day. Does anybody think that it is possible to start this detox method and go about your daily life (work, responsibilities, etc.)

I totally agree with the other post. I read the very 1st post who started this thread and said "yeah right, not some OTC med is going to help me with opiate w/d" - BOY was I wrong, it was my saving grace. I have watched this thread grow since it was started and poeple are finding out how awesome Lopermaide / Immodium works.

The other post above on how to take it -that's A-1 dead on. That's the golden ticket or recipe to get off opiates.

Heck, I was on Roxy 30mg IR 240mg a DAY and thought my life was screwed, what a damn-hole I dug for myself.

While on Immodium, it takes away the w/d, makes you FEEL GOOD, like you are on something. It is flat-out a miracle drug that hardly anyone knows about.

Like the other post said, doesn't matter what the heck you are on, Immodium will take care of it. Follow that guys guidelines and you will be back to normal in a week. I still take Immodium off/on (1 or 2 a day) if needed over the last 4 months since I quit.

ANYONE thinking about doing this??? IT IS SO-SO-SO-SO WORTH IT. Have a clear head, REAL emotions of happy and sad, REAL life ==================== PRICELESS.

Keep in mind it will take about month at the max for your brain to rewire it self back to normal.

Keep this thread going and keep it alive. It saved my life

Hey bud are you still using the loperamide ? I'm thinking about trying it I'm on a nasty opana ride that's being provided by my pain management doc . Withdrawals scare the sh*t out of me I can't handle it but I want off of this pathway to hell

The best thing is to detox from the pain pills and get to where your 20mg of methadone is keeping you stable. Then start with your final detox from methadone. IMO Good Luck to ya, Rodney

I'm sort of confused about your post. Let me just confirm what I think you wrote, ok:
Been on Perc's for 12 years
Then switched to Oxy80's, Duragesic patches, then switched to Heroin
Got injured and Dr refused to give you Oxy's but did give you Dilaudid
Then u used Suboxone to control heroin addiction
Now you are on Oxy's and you haven't done Heroin

Is this correct?

Thanks for the info. I am just starting a self induced detox regimen. Broke my back three years ago. So called pain management program has got me up to 70 mg Opana twice a day and 40 mg Percocet. I've tried cold turkey and along with all the other horrible stuff one endures with Withdawls I feel that I have met the Devil himself. Wicked dreams that keep going after I wake up (all bad) that's by far the worst part. I've herd about Imodium helping but haven't tried it yet can't wait. I'm so glad to hear you have such good success with it. Thanks again.

After reding your post again I realized that you had the order of a few things wrong. I was on Perc's for 12yrs, I went from there to Oxy's, Patches, and H. THEN I went on Suboxone for four years or so. I injured myself while on the Suboxone so I took myself off the Suboxone. My Doc then prescribed me the Dilaudid, from there I started taking Oxy again (not prescribed). The reason I have not gone back to H is that I have no connections anymore, I live in a big city and the only way I could obtain it would be to hit the streets and try and get a hook up (very dangerous). Any advise would be appreciated. Have you had success with the Imodium trick? I'm just so tired of dealing with this nasty monkey on my back.

I was an abuser of opiates for a year until i switched to heroine for 3 years. I was doin up to 5 30s a day. IVing too. I have been clean for 10 months and 21 days now. Still not out of the woods.

Straight up, the three things that helped me kick opiates: weed, walking, and sleep.

Weed. Helps with withdrawal symptoms. It makes them vanish for approx. 3 hours. Plus i mean, you feel happy. Do NOT depend on it though. If you're always high, I discovered when you aren't, depression can get worse. The first time i quit, i smoked 7 times a day for a month, which sent me into serious depression when i tried to quit somking. And then I just relapsed completely. But, it will vanish your symptoms, and it also will help you eat something.

Walking. It helped me with the sensitive skin and joints thing. I read on one forum like a year ago that it gets rid of this acid build up under your skin which is the source of the aches and the sensitivity. It also helped me clear my mind more. Always after I took a walk, i felt less hopeless, and much more confident with my decision to quit opiates. While exercising releases endorphins in your brain, it is not practical when you are dope sick. So walking is a good alternative. My very favorite thing to do is smoke a bowl and go on a walk. It really does wonders for you, mentally and physically. ya know how everything looks dull and useless when you're sick? Weed does the opposite. It makes the world look sharper, and prettier. It helps you think positive thoughts. Plus the fact you are walking will alleviate some symptoms.

Sleep. Well. That is obvious. Lol. Sleep makes everthing better. If you ever get real bad, thinking about death as an alternative, take a sleeping pill if need be and sleep it off. Not kidding. I had to do that many times especially in the first few days.

NONE of that bull sh*t suboxone or methadone. That sh*t is the same deal as what you are already taking. Its just as addictive, and it is such a tease! Feel me? I cannot tell you how many times i tried to quit using sub strips and methadone tablets. I always ended up back on pills, and eventually heroine. Doesn't work, just makes you crave more!

You don't need a doctor to quit, you don't need rehab, all you need is drive. If you really want to get back to who you used to be and if you really want to get rid of the uselessness/ waste of frickin money that drugs are, then you can quit with just you. Remember that. Don't use excuses. That is pointless. If i didnt need a doctor or meds, you dont. Trust me.

uhhhh.....fair warning: taking 10-20 imodium can be pretty harmful. and your body can become addicted to it. the label clearly reads no more than 4[FOUR] imodium per day. you may be subsiding the effects of opiate withdrawal but you're only setting urself up for more sh**s and w/d's later in the future. please for ur own sake, and ur livers sake, take less and don't use it for extended amounts of time. endure the hellish few days, they're only a few days out of ur life! and move on.
