I also have this problem. The first moments of smoking weed are great. I see things in a different light; both the colors are brighter, and the world seems more optimistic. My house, which can feel so inadequate, takes on an uplifting beauty, and my interior arrangements all seem charming and delightful. This flush of delight in common things brings me back to smoking weed, but then I have a price to pay. As the euphoria effect starts to wear off, I become racked with body pain, mostly in my legs. I wish I knew why.

My theory is that smoking makes me feel everything more intensley and since I already have back problems, it makes me notice it more to where I feel like I need to stretch my back or pop it. I am also high while typing this and googled this question

Instead of taking opiates to combat the pain how about you just stop smoking weed?

I'm having the same problem. I smoked with no issues for a year, then suddenly I got these side effects. Shortly after smoking my back gets really sensitive to pressure and bad posture, then hours later I get muscle spasms.

Someone in this thread proposed that the issue is that mj lowers cerebrospinal fluid pressure. You're supposed to drink lots of water and have caffeine if you have issues with low CSF pressure, so I decided to try that. When I smoked I still had the increased sensitivity, but I got less muscle tension afterwards. Someone else try it and let us know if it helps.

My stash is empty so I'm gonna take a break from smoking for a while and try to improve my posture and strengthen my back before I try it again. I'm also going to start meditating to reduce stress and maybe try to improve my overall health a bit. i hope this works, because I really really like weed, but if not, at least I'll feel good from being healthy.

I suffered from pains all over the body, mostly back pain and it disappeared right after I stopped smoking weed.

all what you are saying is really true. I have done many research about this issue and it confirms that smoke itself enables one to be sensitive to pain. And one thing all smokers must learn and be aware is that immediately the smoke goes into the body. it just go straight to the head and passes through the spinal cord and nerves. Again the truth is smoking marijuana is not good. Youth of today must be wise and reason as well because there are a whole lot of misconception about marijuana which convince them to involve themselves in marijuana smoking.
Therefore smoking is the root causes of all chronic back pain. And research study has prove that things can reverse back to normal when one quit smoking.

Why dont you fools just try to stop smoking for a couple weeks and if you feel better give it up and if you dont then dont. Most of you are saying when you smoke it hurts....i would say youre all answering your own questions but you just cant face the truth

I had a back/shoulder injury 6 months ago that led to severe back spasms and anxiety, because I didnt know what exactly was wrong. I went to the hospital and they told me i just strained a muscle. I started seeing a chiropractor and slowly but surely, hundreds of dollars later my pain started getting better. However during this time I was able to smoke without an ill effect. Until one night, my pain was a little bad so I took some ibuprofen, and a muscle relaxer. Then I smoked. I will also mention here my injury and pain was accompanied by a feeling of, buzzing, and tingling in the legs. Anyway so I smoked and 10 minutes later my back is spasming so bad, i start freaking out. I cant stay still, i'm all jittery. So I lay in bed, my legs, and arms, my back, my abdomen all start spasming. I mean convulsions. Like if you looked at me you would have thought I was dying from rabies or some sh*t. Now I have a constant, rumbling, or jitteryness in the muscle in my legs, it is constant and 24/7. Smoking makes it all extremely worse. And even sober my pain gets bad. Some days I have to leave work because I can no longer stand, my muscle under my left shoulder become so tight that its hard to breathe. Granted I believe this all stemmed from my injury. But MARIJUANA DOES 100% make my pain and other symptoms worse. The theory about it relaxing your muscles and sending your spine out of alignment does seem to make sense. But I also feel that there is some neurological factor here. I was a regular smoker, but I was forced to stop because of this. Every day even sober is a struggle as I am constantly entwined in thoughts about my back and my pain. I am seeing a neurologist in a few days and my hopes for help are low but who knows. I just want my life back and to be able to smoke again.

I have the exact same reaction as you do and I also have fibromyalgia and lupus. I also react differently to pain narcotics, instead of becoming drowsy (main side effect of the Meds I'm on), I become alert & hyper, which is great when you suffer from lupus & fibromyalgia (usually, until I overdo things, then I pay for it for days). I started smoking pot again in hopes to reduce pain and get me off the heavy pain Meds, however that idea has backfired. Would really love to understand why we react so differently.

I gotta reply....this is so weird my upper back hurts so bad when I smoke. It just started being very apparent like 4 days ago when I bought this new bud. I just recently quit smoking cigarettes because I thought it was because of them I was experiencing this pain, 50% of the grinding feeling in my spine went away, but every time I take a toke my upper spine feels aggravated. Then it'll go away as the high goes away, so in a way it was a waste.

I've been having this issue and after a while I realized that there's a large mental component. The more you think about it the worse it gets. Now that I've been trying not to think about it I only get mild symptoms most of the time. I hope this helps the rest of you.

Just came across this spread because I'm experiencing similar symptoms, my neck and back crack in a kind of scary way and it feels like my discs are moving around when I smoke weed and especially hash oil I've been smoking for 12 years and this just started to occur recently. I have been repeating the same thing over for a month and have continued to notice this happening when I smoke it's very uncomfortable as it feels like a neuro/skeletal issue and people can understand because usually weed makes you feel good.

I first started having these symptoms nearly 20 years ago. I quit for most of that time, occasionally trying again to see if the symptoms went away (did not). I recently resumed smoking as a treatment for insomnia.
Soon after I smoke, my mind begins to focus on areas that have been injured, almost as if there is a memory of the pain lingering, primarily on the left side of my body. I massage the soreness, but it seems to travel from place to place, from my jaw to neck to collar bone, especially shoulder, elbow, wrist, chest, especially ribs, back, groin, hip, thigh, knee, ankle, foot. Each time I think I've pinpointed the source, it seems to move on.
I've come to think that it's primarily mental, effecting the nerves in those areas. My reasoning is that I've come to find that when I have sex while high, my pain is nowhere to be found, but may return afterwards.

Sex releases endorphines, which dampen pain. I've followed this thread for over a year now, it's depressing that absolutely nobody knows what's wrong. I get pain from every drug there is, except a few like sleeping pills and benzoes. LSD is pretty ok, which is great because that was always my drug of choice anyway. Sucks not being able to spark up anymore though. Gonna try MDMA soon, I'm banking on that reacting with me like LSD since they both use dopamin and serotonin to get you high. Anyway, don't remember to revisit us if you find out what's wrong, I'm dying to know.

If anyone of you reading this are interested in researching the adverse affects marijauna can have on the body i am more then will to volunteer myself for this study. I feel like we all suffer from a similar problem that no one has ever researched before and it would be nice to know more about what is happening to us.
