You need to hydrate heavily with electrolytes.
Think of it as dry body just as you get dry mouth and eyes from smoking weed. You may notice celebrities that are know to smoke it a lot like Woody Harrelson are always drinking water. This may also cause you to pee a lot as well. Which in turn flushes you of all your nutrients. I tend to drink a lot of Smart Water cause it's got Electorlytes. You can also add it in powder form to your own drinking water. Gatorade also helps. Eat lots of fruits also, especially when you get the munchies. This will help you not be a fat stoner.

I dont smoke weed because of the pain i get in my back when i do. I am a healthy person with no health issues but for some reason the second hand smoke or smoking it myself causes alternate effects, such as back pain, unable to sleep, and not being hungry.

Ive been smoking for awhile, at least a joint a day, probably a year or two ago I started to notice my lower back would get stiff or a dull pain once and awhile. I used to lift weights but gave it up due to other priorities in my life so i figured it was simply just muscle aches from the loss of strength and support I was used to having. Recently however I began to notice like most people on this fourm that the pain was starting to get more noticeable and was definitely being aggravated by smoking weed. My father has had kidney issuses so i started cutting back untill i could visit a doctor and rule out any serious organ issues. On page 8 of this fourm someone described in a loooong post some extreme symptoms that they had experienced in almost the same series of events as me ( their post got really weird near the end talking about physchic powers or someshit so if you go back ignore those parts because it was only the medical symptoms that i shared.... anyways..
Before I ever made it to the doctors, i decided to go out and smoke half a j despite the increasing lowerback dull pain increasing over the last couple weeks. I came inside sat down and started watching tv. After 5 mind my back was really starting to feel inflamed almost so i was rubbing it... suddenly i felt this weird feeling, sort of like a pinch on the left side of my spine below the ribcage.. not super aggressive but i felt it. 20 seconds later my whole body started to feel off so i got up and began to walk to the bedroom where my girlfriend was sleeping. I began to stumble as I walked there and collapsed on the bed, i woke her up and at this point i could feel a rushing feeling all through my veins it was sort of cold, then it hit my heart I could easily distinguish the feeling as it moved through out my body parts, i began to breath heavily and started cold sweating profusely, as it moved into my head and brain i started to lose my hearing, like i was in a tunnel, then my vision started to go all yelllow, everything was tinted yellow and I had an extreme sensitvity to light, our bathroom light was on and i could barely see myself in the mirror, at this point I was freaking out and stumbling around walking into walls having a hard time controlling my legs. My girlfriend called 911, she confirmed to me that I was speaking clearly although i could barely hear myself talk and that although my vision was all yellow my eyes were still white (no jaundice) I sat on the bed and waited for the paramedics, it felt like there was electricity flowing through my brain, or it was fizzing. By the time the paramedics arrived my vision had returned to normal and my symptoms seemed to have gone but i opted to go to the hospital anyways because of how freaked out it had me. They did a quick test in my apartment to rule out a stroke which i passed with no trouble, took my blood pressure which was cmpletely normal ect. ( also not i have been perfectly healthy up until this point, I take no medications and have never experienced any sort of anxiety or anxiety attack, i am 25 years old, 5'9 130lbs.)
At the hospital i started to feel off again while waiting to be admitted, my legs began to shake violently and uncontrollably for about 5 or 10 minutes, and then it stopped. The hospital checked me over, and performed an ekg, told me I was a perfectly healthy 25 year old and sent me home.
The next day I was finishing a coffee and started to feel my pinky finger go numb... then my whole left hand felt like there was blood surging through it, then my right hand.. then my breathing started to get laboured again and my heart felt tight, my parents were there this time and called the paramedics again. AGAIN when they showed up the performed blood sugar tests and a trace ekg and told me there was absolutely nothing wrong with me. We called my doctor andscheduled an emergency visit that day.
At the doctors she took a urine sample and immediately rulled out any issues with my kidneys, checked the flexibility of my back to determine the condition of my discs ect.. no problems.. she scheduled me a blood test, which i havent gotten back yet which i will post an update about when i recieve it.
Later after leaving the doctors the left side of my face started to go numb when i sat up. If I layed down it would go away. This lasted for two days and then went away.. along with some minor numbness in my left hand and the bottoms of my feet.
I sometimes smoked three or four times a day... but sometimes only once or twice a day for a couple years.. after this happened I cant even look at a joint or cigarette without my palms starting to sweat. This was by far the scariest thing i have ever experienced much like the previous post with the same symptoms as me.. for the last couple days ive been extremely exhausted.. can barely get out of bed.. this is day 3 or 4 and I am finally starting to feel normal again.
My family doctor said this was probably an anxiety attack.... I think she is screwed, ill admit the second attack after the coffee i had did seem like an anxiety attack... and beleieve me i was pretty damn anxious after the bit the night before. I hope to find some answers from the blood work but fear that like so many people on this fourm I will never know what happened and will have to resort to never smoking weed again.
Im not 100 percent sure the back pain and the attack were correlated... but the other person also seemed to think it was and it happened directly after smoking and almost like a building up feeling of pain in my lower back.
So if you are having these problems quit while you are ahead because you do not want to experience what I went through.

Just wanted to follow up to this last post about the frightening symptoms I experienced. Over the last couple of weeks Ive been exhausting all of my options to figure out what happened and have a pretty solid theory for my personal case and probably a lot of the others who have posted here. All of my medical examinations came back clean, the adverse reactions I experienced are certainly caused by anxiety attacks and I believe that the pain in my (our) lower backs is partially correlated. I tried smoking again to test my theory and again the back pain came back as soon as I laid down, I concentrated on how I was feeling, anxious, I started to shake slightly again but keeping in mind it was likely anxiety causing the physical symptoms in a short time I was easily able to control it and shut it down. If I stood up and walking around the pain would dissappear.
Im sure that prolonged over activity in the brain resulting from uninhibited dopamine production during the high has "burnt out" my nervous system, the lower back pain is simply a symptom of that, not surprising considering the mass of nerves that run down your spinal cord. Moving around and using other nerves throughout the body reduced the pain because my brain was focusing else where, the less I tried to do that the more control I would begin to lose hence the shaking when I was just lying around. As soon as I sobered up the pain was gone.
As much as it may feel that your internal organs are burning or swelling or throbbing in most cases I now believe this is just a nervous system response to over simulation and it also explains why no one has ever figured out for sure what is going on.
My case is just extreme enough that I was able to narrow it down easier with the prevalence of more symptoms. Ive been smoking cigarettes instead of weed which causes no pain response which to me rules out kidney or adrenal gland damage because with all the additional chemicals I should be in unbearable pain after I have one. I really dont believe that pesticides and bad grows have much to do with this as others have suggested.
As far as dealing with this problem, Im not really sure if there is a good way to go about it, I had the most luck with using alchohol in combination to depress my nervous system but I cant be drunk and high all of the time so I personally am going to quit for awhile and try exercise to relieve any excess stress and then try again once ive been steady at a routine awhile. If it works ill let you all know.
I hope this helps some people suffering with this problem, I loved the relaxation I got from a toke here and there but I cant even enjoy the high anymore at this point so I have no choice.
Cheers and good luck.

I believe it is a allergy. I have been smoking weed since 2004. I am now 27. After i was 18 i started to get headaches. I kept smoking weed and it would only get worse. I would smoke on and off for many years and tried everything but quitting weed. Such as gluten, dairy, and many other things. I eventually had terrible back aches like you guys and even stomach distress. Anyways no matter if i smoked, vaped, edibles, hash oil you name it! Its the weed and its physical not mental. All my muscles lower back and even jaw pain were from weed. I thought it was tmj or just not exercising but i repeat it is the weed. Whatever is using to grow it or maybe the strain it is the weed. Its not mental, its physical and terrible. It takes about a month for all my pains to go away after going cold turkey. So just quit until you really know what the weed is and what works. No weed works for me. Ive tried many strains, different growers . Everything seriously. Just quit and end the pain. You can always have a night cocktail if you need the destress. I just want you guys to feel better because i went through this pain for way too long. Thank you and good day to you all.

I know it seems as though its physical? But if you do some research on the adverse affects that your nervous system can have on your body all of the symptoms make sense.. these include physical symptoms. Dont underestime the power of your brain it controls every inch of your body top to bottom. Also note: although its not impossible its pretty rare to develop an alergy overtime rather an being born with it and experiencing it from the very first exposure. Many of the people who posted developed their symptoms over time.

Im not trying to totally discount your opinion here but ive been trying to diagnose this for a while, thc enters your blood stream and is distributed throughout your entire body, its also unlikely that your physical symptoms would be isolated to particular areas and only present as internal symptoms, you would have a multitude of symptoms all over, and most likely some sort of skin rash or irritation. The fact that I can vastly reduce the physical symptoms with alcohol points towards a nerve related issue aswell considering the depressive nature of that substance on your nervous system.

Goodbye Mary Jane. You were my best friend for 3 years but it is time to part ways. Especially when you are stabbing me in the back.
What interests me is how similar all of our symptoms are. The pain below the ribs, the feeling that your ribs are "shifting" and out of place. Severe back pain, like shooting throbbing knives stuck in you. Do we all have some sort of back condition? I suffer from scoliosis. Crazy how weed actually used to relieve my pain. Now it's killing me.
I believe this is only happening to us chronic smokers? People who have abused MJ, and now it seems that our bodies are turning against us. As I type this I am coming down from my last high ever. My emotions are everywhere and I feel like crying. Thankfully the pain is subsiding. Thank god the pain is subsiding.
This happened to me once before, and it was after I had quit smoking for a brief period. Sharp knives in the back. I decided to power through it then, my love for Mary was too strong. I didn't want to give her up. So I vaped in the bathtub for weeks to get my tolerance back. The pain was still there but manageable. It eventually went away and I was able to smoke like I used to: 10 times a day, everyday. Bong, joint, pipe, anything. I eventually graduated to doing dabs. My tolerance was through the roof. Fully addicted, I'd wake up in the morning with stomach pains because I wasn't high. I did this for years, high all the time.
Until 2 weeks ago when I had to stop smoking again -- wisdom teeth surgery. When I was finally able to smoke again, the pains that we are all experiencing were back -- this time full force.
And now I'm here in this comedown-back pain. Sad. The last high. How silly could we have been, us chronic smokers. I'm sorta happy though. My body is forcing me to give up my addiction. And I can return to normality, where I don't crave to run away to my room and hide and smoke. I cut out my friends, my family and eventually myself. So maybe this is good for people like me.
I hear my dad watching cast away in the other room. Maybe I'll go join him for once.
God bless

I have scoleosis. And when I smoke I feel like It exaggerates the pain. But it relives headaces real nice

I found this article and found it pretty interesting. Research is suggesting that the active ingredients in MJ disrupt the pain signals in our body.

The same thing has been happening with me I am an avid marijuana user and lately it's just exaggerates any and all pains I'm having in my body All of my friends use marijuana to relax were to get rid of pain and lately for me even though I love feeling high I just can't stand how to exaggerate my pain in my body I know there are different strains and this and that but I've tried many different strains with the same result unfortunately I feel like I have to quit , my friends won't be happy about it but it's not worth it to me anymore !

Ive been trying to figure this out, subbornly kept smoking. Recently my symptoms have gotten significantly worse.. i cut back and the back pain has been less consistant, but suddenly for the last few days ive had intense pressure in my head everytime I stand or sit up, it makes it almost impossible to do anything and persisted for days. I completely stopped using because I literally couldnt function for hours at a time just laying around being absolutely miserable (luckily I dont have a job I have to go to) and finally the pressure subsided... doctor still thinks this is anxiety related but I find it hard to believe. Highly recommend quitting before you end up like this.
