What if I have all of the symptoms, abdominal pain, bloating, nausea after eating every meal? Some of the episodes are horrible with associated vomiting. I have had an abdominal CT, ultrasound, colonoscopy and was tested for cilliacs (sp). I had a hida test recently and my score was 57%. I am not sure what to do but this has been going on for 6 years.

Hey guys I am a nurse and have had a high ejection from my gall bladder as well, my doc told me to de-stress my life and put me on a proton pump inhibitor hoping that would help my body reduce the amount of bile it released.  It seems to be helping. I am taking less zofran and I feel a little better, I think just being open with a doctor and asking about treatment options helps, and you may have to try many different things before you find what works best for you and your body.  I personally would rather not have surgery of any kind but if I do get to a point where this isn't helping I would be more willing for surgery.  Try changing your lifestyle and eating habits and ask about ways to decrease the bodies bile dumping.

Hi, I wanted to follow up and see how the gallbladder removal surgery has went. I have an ejection fraction of 81 percent. Have been having nausea, burning stomach pain and back pain. Have not really been having pain on right side. My GI doc wants me to get in touch with a surgeon on gallbladder removal. I just don't feel like I match the description for this. I eat super healthy workout and everything. Did yours work for u

Hi, I had surgery in Dec 2012 and I feel wonderful! My hida scan came back at 95%. I was sick after I ate, no energy, body aches, bad anxiety. I tried changing my diet, but it only worked temporarily and then the sickness appeared again. I am glad I had the surgery. I am able to eat anything now and I have a ton of energy---something I haven't had in a long time. I was hesitant at first to have the surgery, but now I'm glad I did.

Ok cat scans (4), MRI, Sonograms, ERCP, EUCP, MRCP, colonoscopy etc negative.  I had a bad fall two years ago, broke my right side rear rib with a wood piece of a broken chair or table that blunted my as I fell towrd my bacck right side with about ten people on top of me.  Had pale stool the next day then soon after got all the classic IBS symptoms.  Kept drinking coffee and got worse for several months.  Finally got my first CT and they said previous chronic pancreatitis.  But i've always been healthy with no issues of pancreatitis.  I eat healthy always.  So the dr also said the HIDA scan came back normal.  I begged him for this test.  So several months later, I kept suspecting my GB.  So I finally pulled my test my self and the reading was 93%.

Ok simple show this to a few drs and/or surgeons (my insurance doesnt require auth for anything) but it seems harder to find a dr who doesnt thinks a 93% ejection fraction is not a very healthy GB.

So this GB is literally killing me by causing this chronic pancreatitis.  But cannot find a dr who is familiar with this.

Does anyone know of one in the NJ/NY region?   Please help!

Hello,I also have had the same symptoms as you. Nausea, bloating ,lightheaded, pain in back and front right pain and fatigued. I'm seeing a surgeon next Friday which is 4-19-13.My fraction is in the 90's also.My GI Doctor wants me to see a surgeon because he noticed the ejection was in the 90's.

I have a similar situation, only my ejection fraction is "only" 71%. The surgeon told me that removing the gallbladder was an option, but that there was a 15 - 20% chance that wouldn't relieve the symptoms. I'm not planning to have surgery at this point. I've reduced fat in my diet and feel somewhat better. I should probably lose 15 pounds and this might be the way to do it.

This is the best information I have gotten and I have seen 2 doctors and had an ultrasound and a HIDA scan. Thank you.

I just happen to stumble across this page through my google searching for answers.

I can relate to all of you, I wish all of you a full recovery. This is the worst pain I've ever experienced and would not wish this on my worst enemy.

I have vomited green bile and have been running a low grade fever with sharp shooting/stabbing pain in my right upper quadrant. I do not have health insurance so I laid at home and suffered for seven days, finally the pain became so unbearable I went to the emergency room ready to incur a lifetime of debt. In the emergency room my ultrasound came back "normal" i.e no sign of stones, my liver enzymes also checked out normal. The attending physician stated, from his assessment he believed my gallbladder was the culprit and ordered a HIDA scan.

I had very similar experience to you all, I had my HIDA Scan on Friday and during the test I started experience pain, isolated to exactly where my gallbladder is. For the rest of the day my voice was hoarse, the color was faded out of my face and my family was very concerned for my well being. Luckily, Saturday I improved 50% though still with the accompanying acute RUQ pain.

On Monday, the nurse from my doctor's office called to inform me, "You're fine, your HIDA scan results show no problem" I pressed for what my ejection fraction was. It was 88%. Googling led me here.

Today, I had the worst doctors visit, I have ever experienced in my life. I went in to meet with a gallbladder "specialist" surgeon, who walked into his office with his opinions already formed. Mind you this was the first time I had ever met him, he came in and informed me I wasn't having gallbladder problems with no questions of my symptoms. He thumped the test results and said "test don't lie".

I informed him about the information I read on this website and others. He shook his head and smirked and did air quotes with his fingers and said "this theory of a hyperactive gallbladder--i just don't buy it".  He told me to go home eat rice and oatmeal for six months and lose weight.

I am a 25 year old male with no health problems (other than this). I don't drink/smoke/do drugs. I maybe take 4 or 5 Advil a YEAR if I have a bad headache. I have been unable to leave my house for 2 weeks due to horrible pain, the only solace I have been able to find is the hydrocodone the ER prescribed me (which this surgeon also ridiculed me saying "taking that high dosage of pain meds is not necessary for side pain". I was so mad, I could spit nails!

I feel discouraged after having two doctors tell me I am fine, when clearly I am not and am hurting/vomiting/running a fever/no appetite. I'm in TN, but I am willing to drive to a different state to have a doctor not treat me like I am crazy. :(

I was just wondering, My Dr. is sending me to see a surgeon about my gallbladder.  I have lost 57 lbs by dieting and exercise and now I can't lose any more.  These are the symptoms I've been having for at least a month now: Shortness of breath, burping, pain in back between my shoulderblades, just recently started getting a small pain like it's my lower rib on right side hurting but not a bad pain, pain also between belly button and hip.  I notice after I eat my breathing seem worse.  I had to go to ER one night because I felt I couldn't breathe and it apparently gave me a panic attack and I hyperventilated.  All the breathing and pain feels better (doesn't go away) when I get up and walk around for a minute.  I had an ultra sound that came back good and just had a Hida scan last week which they said was normal but I had a EF of 98% which I've read mean's a hyperactive gallbladder.  I have noticed most days I have no appitite (very unusual for me) but I make my self eat something since it's not good to not eat, but then some days I almost feel starved and want to eat everything. I also notice I have a little reflux if i bend over to pick something up off the floor.  Has anyone else has these symptoms and their gallbadder removed and symptoms stopped?  I have not seen anyone say they had shortness of breath feeling with their gallbladder problems.

I know you posted this a long time ago but for other's who may be looking for answers, I met with a surgeon about my gallbladder. My Hida scan showed an EF of 94%. He said the EF is how much the gallbladder goes down when it contracts. It measures how big the gallbladder is when it's not contracting and then how far it squeezes down to push out the bile. I am having my gallbladder out this next Friday... I sure hope it takes care of my issues!!!!

I've been suffering with this for a over a year and no doctor is willing to accept the fact that it is my gall bladder. How do I contact you or your associates to try and get some help. I am miserable and in constant pain.

I am in the same exact situation except I have been dealing with this for over 3.5 years. Only as a couple months ago did I realize that my problems could be due to hyperkinetic gallbladder. I have had two hidas one was a 87% and the other was a 86%. My pain is there almost all the time. It occurs in my right my abdomen, my mid and upper back, and radiates to my left side as well. My pain is often bad in the morning as well as waking up nauseas. I often have very little appetite and the idea of eating sometimes just makes me feel sick.I have had every single test the doctors can throw at me and this is the only thing that has come back abnormal. I also get pain while drinking alcohol and increased pain the day after so I do not drink any more. My doctors won't take out my gallbladder because none of them have heard of a high hida score. While I am sitting around sufferering they want to send me to repeat tests I've already have had. If anyone knows any gastro doctor or surgeon within a reasonable distance of NJ, please let me know. I am only feeling worse and worse over the years and am only 24 years old. I just want to feel better.

I am so glad I found this thread!  I started having RUQ pain a few months ago when I was pregnant.  Since then, I have developed terrible pain in my right shoulder, upper back and the ride side of my neck, all of which get worse after eating.  I have had 5 "attacks," but only 2 of them followed particularly fatty meals.  I eat reasonably well but am in pretty much constant pain regardless.  No gallstones, no celiac.  90% ejection fraction from HIDA scan, which my doctor says is "normal."  Have a CT scan scheduled, but I suspect it will be normal as well.  Does anyone know of any new literature on high ejection fractions or "hyperkinetic gallbladder"?  I just know my gallbladder is the cause of my problems, but I don't think my doctors agree.

I just had mine taken out July 12, 2013. I had an ultrasound and hida scan and they all came back normal except I had a ejection fraction of 94% on the hida scan. My doctor still sent me to see a surgeon and he said it was probably the cause and took it out. I had an chronic inflamed gallbladder and stones. None of this showed up on the other tests. I don't have the little pain I had under my rib, but I am still having burping and that causes a feeling of shortness of breath so I will have to go back in to see what's still causing that. I live in OK though so I can't help you with surgeon's there but keep looking. There will be one that will take it out. I have heard horror stories about after taking it out but I have had NO problmes! Thank you lord!
