Hello! I need advice, because something strange is happening to me. For the past two months I am smelling smoke all the time. I keep on asking people around me if they smell it too, but the answer is no. I smell it everywhere/ in gym, in office, at home… Does anyone have any advice what this might be?

I had sinus surgery and did allergy shots. No problem since all that.
GERD, drinking coffee and black tea, and tonsil stones can contribute to the smoke scent. I used to smell it all the time. I never once smoked. But once I stopped coffee, starting taking Tagamet, and had my ear, nose, and throat doctor clean out my tonsils (they were shockingly filled with stuff), all smoke odor went away.
Besides sinus surgery and allergy shots, I also had TIF surgery for gerd . No problems since all that.
Wow it is good to know I'm not alone. About 2 months ago I started taking Zoloft for depression and about a month ago is when this smoke smell started. Not sure if the two are related but I go to my doctor on this Thursday and I will definitely ask.
I also developed this faint smell of smoke issue and had it for a month or two. I pulled up some of these posts and no one seemed to have a good cause or way to alleviate it. I finally went to my trusty homeopathy research, and typed in "smoke smell." It came up with one remedy - sulphur. I had some sulphur in the house (since I have a good homeopathic remedy kit) and took some twice a day for about three or four days. Right after I would take the sulphur the smell would go away, but would come back later. However, after the fourth day it went away and hasn't come back! Most health food stores and even some grocery stores have homeopathic remedies. Try sulphur and see if it helps you like it did me!  ***this post is edited by moderator *** *** web addresses not allowed*** Please read our Terms of Use
Its because the coffee is grown next to tobacco fields. Have you ever noticed that if you take a medication a shot time after taking it you smell it? I noticed that when I took a new job and started drinking the coffee in the office I started smelling cigeretts smoke but no one smoked . I don't smoke Well, I'm sure of this. Very sure its the coffee.
It leaves a person to wonder if the have nicotin levels even if they don't smoke. I think its population control.
Its the coffee.

What antibiotic did you get?
I started smelling smoke several years ago, and I think it's strong coffee smell that triggers it. Years ago, I worked in an office that was near the pantry that always had coffee brewing. The smell was incredibly potent. Well, I found another job and the smoke smell gradually went away until I attended a closed-door work training that had 3 pots of coffee brewing, and low and behold, the smoke smell returned with a vengeance. Thing is, I don't know how to get rid of the smell in my nose. When I'm outside in fresh air, I'm okay, but when I'm in the house or at work, everything smells like smoke and it drives me crazy.
I have had 2 surgeries in the past. Chronic sinus infections through out the years. I got sick after we came back from Florida 3 weeks ago. Bad Bad cough and stuffed completely. I have been anti biotic and steroided for years. I went to a wholistic doc. He told me to use the saline spray and add sea salt. At a different time 1/2 later use colloidal silver and spray that up my nose. I am now breathing better, it's been 5 days. First time ever without pharmaceutical medications. Yea! Thank you for posting this I thought I was going crazy!
I feel exactly the same as you. I am constantly smelling smoke. I had a severe sinus infection which kind of cleared, but now I am coughing phlegm and cannot smell or taste anything (apart from smoke). I have been on two lots of antibiotics within the last month, but they are not helping whatsoever. My sinuses and ears are blocked and it is really getting me down. It's reassuring to know other people have the same problem. Best wishes
I can't believe so many people have this trouble, until 2 months ago I had never heard of it. like a lot of people in these messages I have both Sinus and a Hiatal Hernia, mine started shortly after a sinus infection, and trying to explain this to family is nearly impossible, I even experience smoky fumes that burn my throat, eyes and gets into the esophagus, I have also used Vicks or perfume to override the smell. I have days where it is tolerable but then it reverts back to this constant smoke. I had already been taking Previcid for the Hernia but had stopped for a year so my Dr. put me back on 2 daily. I also found that taking a half of a 0.5 Lorazepam and a full one at night gives me some relief. I also have an appt. with an ENT but not till the end of July. and after reading some of the notes here I have reservations on Any surgery.
