I have nexplanon which is essentially the same thing as implanon, the only difference is the insertion process. Ive personally had an excellent experience with it so far. Ive had fewer periods, no major issues with mods or depression, and it has been effective as a contraceptive. The only way to know if it's right for you is to give it a shot, I've had an excellent experience and I believe it was one of the best choices I've ever made. For me the insertion was not very painful, as I was numbed all the way up my upper arm. In short, I highly recommend it from my experience however everyone reacts differently to a change in horomones, so how you react within the first 6omths of having it should be a determining factor.
Hi, I was on the implant for 1 year had it removed and 1 month later fell pregnant, miscarried and then had another implant for 2 years.
I Had the second implant taken out in feb 15 and started trying in jan 2016. It's now October 2016 and nothing. I'm 26, healthy etc.
Before having the implant I fell pregnant within 2 to 3 months at the most when trying to conceive and I've had 3 pregnancies. Now after the implant it has taken 9 months and still no baby!
My skin is ruined with acne now too! i don't think the implant has been established for long enough to be used as a safe contraceptive. There are already so many women complaining of infertility after using it and there isn't enough evidence to suggest it doesn't cause infertility. In fact scientifically speaking it would be likely to cause infertility.
When we put synthetic hormones into our bodies they replace our normal hormone production and that never returns.
Hence why as a female u can't take oestrogen to make your breasts larger, unless during menopause because our natural supply of oestrogen will dry up.
The implant secretes progestren which is similar to our hormone progesterone which is essential for healthy maintenance of our reproductive cycle.
Our bodies get used to supply of progestren from the implant and therefore no longer produces Progesterone in the amount needed by itself because it thinks it is already getting its supply!
The more women that speak out about this the better chance we have of ensuring the companies that make impalanon and nexplanon have to admit their products can cause infertility and that consumers should be aware!!
Thanks

I had the worst time with the implanon birth control I only spent about 2 months of the whole 3 years not bleeding it made me so sick and emotional and since having it removed to try for baby number 2 that was 2 years ago I am scared that it may have messed me up way worse than I thought I highly suggest not getting it at all stay away from it
I have had big problems when the doctor put mine in he broke it in half and I didn't know it and had it for 2 1/2 years I'm trying to get pregnant but no luck
Well, I had the implanon in for almost the full 3 years. I was on the depo for 3 years before that. I feel soo terrible. My husband and I have tried for a year now to get pregant... I've had the implant out for a year.. still nothing.. so I'm going to the doctor in a few days to get some help. I have had regular to a T periods. I know the exact day every month... so I've tracked my ovaluation and everything. Not sure what's going on?
i am having same issue has any thing changed with you ?
I had an implant for 3 years then had nexplanon reinserted since we weren't ready for more kids...but then we decided to start trying again...it's been 6 months and nothing. I hope somehow we can hold this company responsible!
I was on the depo injection for 5 years and then I had implanon twice so that 6 years and with both types of contraception I had zero periods the whole way through.. I had the second implanon taken out Feb16 I had a period every 3 weeks and I fell pregnant November 16.. it can take a long time I think everyone's body's are different and react differently to things
Girl, let's all get together as sue!!
I've been on nexplanon for the last 2 and a half years. The first year I just had very irregular periods from spotting to heavy bleeding once every 2 months or so. The next year u completely stopped having my periods. Haven't had any since last january. I've gained around 5 pounds since I started. I get bladder infections but that's from me being stupid after sex and not peeing. My arm hurts if I move in it an awkward way but it doesn't hurt to touch or anything. Barely a scar. Had no issues when it was put in. But my bff had it done and had nonstop period for 4 months and hates it. So it's different for every person.
this is a lie i had the implanon removed and soon to be married been trying to concieve for a couple years almost now nuthing yet
I've been having the same exact problem as well. Any luck?
Hi,am new to this group but I must let you know that I had my implant for 4years,I removed it when my first child was 4,my child will be 7years in month time and up till now. ...nothing happened, still waiting to get pregnant!!!! Please think twice before having ghe implant!
Hello, I am new also. I had implanon inserted in my arm right after giving birth to my daughter in 2011. I had it removed about a year later in 2012. My husband and I have been TTC ever since. We have had 3 miscarriages or more since then. Not ovulating, thin lining and low estrogen carry to full tem. With the help of fertility meds, we get pregnant and miscarry every time. Fertility specialist will not help us anymore unless we decide to go with IVF. Its a horrible situtaion to be in. Just use the pill instead.
Have you had it taken out yet? I've had the implant for almost five years now. I had it replaced early last year and I've gained about 50 pounds total in the past 4 1/2 years. I have pains in my arm and I got yeast infections constantly. I want to get mine out but I'm also worried about alternative methods. I want to lose this unecessary weight but I dont want to be unprotected from pregnancy. Did you ever find a good replacement?
