Was the cushings disease expensive to treat??
Reply
My Long haired Chi, Reilly, has Cushings for about three years....he is 18 yrs and doing quite well. He presented with voluminous urination and that is how we found out that he had it. He eats well, walks well for an 18 yr old dog and still "dances" at dinnertime. We intend to keep him on Vetoryl and observe him and keep his life as normal as possible until such time as he can no longer walk....that is our agreement. He has had a lot of years....we didnt get him until he was 13, he was dumped in a shelter in southern CA and we got him through a rescue there and brought him to Oregon. He has been a total delight and he still is!!

I had 2 Daschunds that were brothers. They loved to 16 and had to lay both down with in 6 months of each other. BoRegard all of a sudden cldnt breathe. Took him to vet and found out he had. Heart mermer & cldnt live outside of being in a bubble... Dougan Eugene had all kinds of illnesses and lived through 3 deathly illnessnes. We were told that he knew he was Loved so much that he was Living for us .... soo sad! I never had kids , just them. They were known as "the boys".. .. Anyway , Dougan had cushings which gave him skin infections, hair loss & weight gain. For his dull, dry, brittle hair we gave them an oil pill once a day or wld squeeze oil out of pill onto their food. We purchased the pills from the vet which cost about $25-$30.. it is to give the daschund a shiny coat.

I have a miniature schnauzer Abby (age 11) who supposedly has C.D. (June 2017). But she hasn't presented any of the problems since I put her on FreshPet food. No grain treats. I am making her homemade treats. I heard of a supplement that helped with cancer, so I give her Ïnfinite"for bones with turmeric. She seems to be doing great! I am even wondering if the vet made a mistake in his diagnosis???

Where did you hear about Cushex and how did you decide on it as your homeopathic choice? Also how long did it take to notice improvement after you started using it? My Aussie is 17 this year and I am seeing extreme thirst , panting and hind end weakness. My Vet suggested testing her and starting medications but I am dragging my feet after reading all of the side effects.

What is the life expectancy for a 12 yr old dog with cushings AND diabetes ? No one will tell me and he obviously feels rotten and is also blind! Please help!

I don't think anyone could definitely tell you. Both are life shortening. My Boxer, Bella, who is 8-yrs, has Cushings. Diagnosed Aug. 5, 2017. Giving her CBD paste and formulas from pet healers online. Naturopathic. She is doing OK. Can't say good. Vet wanted to give her chemo pills which could kill her. Her words. So, I am trying to help Bella, but if she does not respond, I won't allow her to live in this misery. It's not fair for her.

Wow! My boy Roscoe is 7 1/2 & his diagnosis suggests Pitituary cushings disease..he was on Veterol for almost 4 weeks and he stopped eating unless forced. He also had allergies acting up so the vet thought he might be nauseous so took him off Veterol and gave him a 4 day dose of Cerenia to help w nausea. I am now waiting fo him to have another test to determine the meds for him/dosage! This has been so extremely frustrating! Any suggestions for me..Roscoe is an 80 lb lab/pit mix! he is so young and has no symptoms of cushings except excess thirst and urination! I don't know if the meds will help more or hurt more..he still acts like my happy lil boy! Help!!!! What should I do???

It sounds like Roscoe isn't showing all the symptoms as yet. My Bella is now holding fluid and her belly is full. Her fur around her neck is changing color and her neck is more full. Larger. They hold lots of fluid. The reason I took her to the Vet was because of drinking lots of water and urinating a lot. Which she still does. Yet I can't bring myself to put her on Vet's meds. I have read too many comments and the chemo med and Veterol; all these meds do is make them sick and miserable. Here is what I have chose TO DO: I AM GOING TO TAKE ONE DAY AT A TIME. EVEN THOUGH HER BACK LEGS ARE GETTING WEAKER OVER TIME, (ANOTHER SYMPTOM) SHE STILL CAN USE THE STEPS ON THE DECK TO GO TO THE YARD. I AM PREPARING MENTALLY TO HAVE HER PUT TO SLEEP IF HER BODY BECOMES TOO WEAK. NO ONE HERE TO HELP ME AND I CANNOT LIFT A 90 LB BOXER DOG. SHE HAS GAINED ABOUT 20 LBS DUE TO THIS DISEASE. I HAVE MENTIONED I GIVE BELLA CBD PASTE. ALONG WITH FORMULAS FROM SITE PAW HEALER. IT ISN'T CHEAP. I HAVE TO DECIDE HOW MUCH MORE I CAN ALLOW HER TO LIVE WITH CUSHINGS. IT WON'T GET BETTER. I AM JUST TREATING HER SYMPTOMS. SHE ALSO PANT A LOT, AS THEY GET HOT. I DON'T THINK SHE SLEEPS WELL SO SHE SLEEPS DURING THE DAY. IT'S SAD.
