hi did it get better for you please help
It has been almost two months since I had an endoscopy. In the meantime I caught a terrible cold which filled my throat with even more mucous and has made it even more difficult to swallow. I feel like I'm drowning in mucous. the cold is getting a little better and I'm on antibiotics for an upper respiratory infection. But the lump in my throat feeling is still there. I feel like I want to crawl out of my skin. What is really upsetting is that I have read all seven pages of the posts on this website and no one has said anything made them feel better. I can't believe I might have to live with this the rest of my life!
I had my endo with dilation yesterday. Went home and felt lumps in my throat like I had ate rocks. Still on soup and ice cream, even that is painful. I went to the er today, negative chest X-ray and they did a swallow test where I drank a barium and they watched it go down, no perforation thank goodness. Tonight the lumps are a little better but still there, I think it may be swelling we are feeling and irritation. I am using liquid Tylenol for pain. Hopefully it will be better each day. Yesterday I could not eat at all and today I did get ice cream and soup in. Painful but I guess better than yesterday
My mother had one done 2 months ago and now she is having trouble at times with breathing being shallow.
Had an unnecessary egd with dilation done in Sept 2016 even though I had only a minor swallowing problem that should have investigated with a swallow test. Since then, I have the lump in throat feeling constantly. Food that I eat gets stuck in my throat and the middle of my chest. I have severe shortness of breath. I think that my vocal cords were damaged as I must strain to talk and talking makes the SOB worse. Also with the shortness of breath is a tightness in my chest. I have been to three EENTs who claim to know nothing. Two have refused to treat me. The doctor that did this to me lied and altered my medical records. The pulmonary doctor claims I have aspiration syndrome caused by this procedure. I will be seeing another EENT and gastro dr this week. I am so distraught! I was in perfect health before this and went in only for a routine colonoscopy!
I had the same surgery today my throat hurts so bad is there anything that someone could tell me how to help the pain ?
I had an endoscopy done two weeks ago, because I was suffering from heartburn. The doctor said it went extremely well. I was dignoised with GERD and Gastritis. He told me to take Pepcid twice a day. My heartburn is gone, but days after the procedure up to today I have this feeling that something is stuck in my throat. Every time I drink I feel like it's going to push whatever it is down but it doesn't. This happened random times throughout the day and always in the morning when I wake up... I am also having difficulties swallowing food. I NEVER had these problems before the endoscopy. I called my doctor and he said that's a side effect of GERD. But I never felt this before the endoscopy...!
IS THIS SERIOUS? Should I get it checked out? Is there anything I can take to stop it?

have had lump in throat feeling for 8 months now, started 5 days after an endoscopy. have received no help from drs. etc. im taking xifaxan for 2nd time (3 wks. in length) for SIBO. i dont think sibo is related to lump feeling, but was what had me get an endoscopy. to help cope with the symptoms of throat lump i take zyrtec for the post nasal drip every day, just started this med. a week ago, does help, not completely though, and take pepcid ac 2x day for the silent reflux, in case it is acid hiting my throat or vocal cords giving me the lump in throat feeling. Ent said he saw nothing unusual when he looked in my nose and throat with a camera. he was going to get me ppi for reflux but I tried that before and it gave me stomach pains. i know the condition is awful and debilitating phyically and mentally to where one has sucidal thoughts. still no cure but praying and still searching through web sites for answers. LETS FIND AN ANSWER SINCE THE educated DRS HAVE NONE! please share when your lump in throat condition started, symptoms, meds tried that help or didnt help so we can compare. i think this is the only way we will get a cure! God bless
also try taking tums after eating, i notice lump in throat feeling more after eating . sometimes take about 5-6 tums. does help minumize lump feeling. definitely agee with others that it has someting to do with the endoscopy test itself. aspiration syndrome? not sure what that is, will look up. did doc or whoever did test damage throat/vocal cords? allergic reaction to lube on scope?unclean scope? biospy they usually take in the esophagus damage a nerve? just not sure. plese share thoughts and experiences. mike
one other thing, after endoscopy i took prilocet(ppi) for 5 days, stopped med. and next day had lump in throat feeling. please comment.

I had an upper endoscopy 4 weeks ago. Last week was the first I've felt that annoying lump in my throat. It is driving me crazy. Feels like something is stuck there. Going to Dr this week. Unfortunately, I live in US and am losing my health care benefits at end of month.
Exactly!! And since I have Fibro with spasticity and spasms, my throat is in a constant wave of swallowing.
I had dilation done 3 days ago. After the procedure I felt like there was a bubble in my chest. I thought nothing of it. My Doctor told me to go celebrate and have a steak. When I got home I realized that was not possible. I could not swallow my own saliva or a sip of water. Then the insane esphogeal spasms started. I was in more pain then having any of my 3 Children. My esophagus was spasming every 60 seconds, or every time I tried to swallow my saliva. I was screaming with each spasm and my husband immediately called the doctor. The doctor told him to get me to the ER immediately. The ER was a horrible experience. They did nothing to stop the spasms or help with the pain until my husband yelled at them that he has seen me give birth 3 times and never seen me in this much pain. They gave me some pain meds that took the edge off. They did XRays, then a CT scan while I swallowed they dye stuff. That process gave me major anxiety because I was not even swallowing my own saliva and they wanted me to lay flat in a tight space and swallow a mouth full of this stuff. I could only think what if I choke in this machine!!! Anyway they found no evidence of a perforation so they tried to discharge me with no explanation of they spasms and not being able to swallow. These spasms also turned into a migraine and back and shoulder ache from the tensing up during these episodes. Anyway they sent me home with carafate. The spasms finally stopped later that night but I still can't sip water. I can barely eat. When I do try to eat I get major anxiety about doing so for fear that it will start a spasm or it will get stuck. My "lump" feeling is more in my chest then my throats but the ring the doctor stretched was in the lower esophagus. I'm only on day 3 majorly dehydrated and scared. I can say I will never ever do this procedure again!
like everyone else who had this procedure...I am home feesl like a glob of something in my thought...just had a gagging session...called the dr they said normal side effect...nice telling me on my way home half way when the anesthetic wore off n I couldn't swallow because of the pain n like spasms of pain n pulling to my ears from my throat what a trip. .Liquid tyenol 3 ,,15 mg lil serve cups every 4 hrs...gargle with salt water...mine feels better with head resting back...Its when I swallow it hurts the most...n yes the taste of the phlem is awful....so according to all of your posts I feel as normal as you!
