So you're saying this is all BS - and you're like what 12? The tiny labia look is what's pushed because it can be sold for a few thousand dollars per woman. When they come up with a procedure to make the labia larger, for a few thousand bucks, that's what you'll be programmed to like.
I strongly recommend that the women and girls posting here who are considering labioplasty (mutilation) don't do it. You could end up in permanent pain and for what? To make a smarmy little twit like "Truth" happy? I'm well into my forties and I'll tell you lots of men really do like large labias. The other posters are not BS'ing you here, it's the real truth.

This is pretty reassuring, but although I've read quite a lot of these they never really boost my confidence that much in real life. I'm 18 and I've been so close to having sex with guys but I can never bring myself to do it because i'm so embarrassed. I'm worried guys my age are so used to porn that they'll be shocked to see something different to it. I'm going to uni soon and i'm still a virgin because although i really want to have sex i'm too scared to show them to anyone :(

if you are nervous about showing a guy your labia, why don't you show them to woman friends and get their opinion?...it should be a little easier because you don't have to worry about being rejected...you might even find out they aren't any bigger than your friends...or they might reassure you that men like them bigger or don't care either way...like someone else said earlier, all vaginas are beautiful to men...I have seen a lot of different kinds, and have loved them all!...

When you are with someone who makes you feel really safe and accepted and adored, they will help you get past your fear. They will make you feel beautiful. :)

I actually wouldn't recommend that. My friend saw mine, which are large, and made fun out of me for years afterward. Hers were practically non-existent. I feel for all the girls here who are anxious about their labia, I read these comments and I remember thinking and feeling the exact same way and the fears aren't frivolous - some boys really are a$$holes about it but that's boys. When I got into my twenties, on a dare I started exotic dancing and found out there really are lots of men who really do like large labia. I'm not advocating that anyone go into that line of work because despite having my confidence about my labia restored there were some other very negative aspects to it and I'm glad to be done with it - plus this was over 20 years ago and now with porn programming guys to expect little ones, a strip club would probably be the last place to get reassurance. My point is there are men who like them a lot. I was never the Barbie doll type but I use to make as much money as the girls who were. Some guys would look so estatic - so grateful. Believe me, I was surprised. I don't talk much about that time but I feel like I should say something now because the thought of any of you girls (or women) going to any of those so-called doctors honestly fills me with dread. You have nerve endings in your labia, you would lose a lot of feeling if you amputated them and as some women here have posted you could end up in permanent pain - nerves can be where the doctor doesn't expect them to be. There's also the risk of infection or hemoraging, that tissue is very vascular, if you pop a suture you could loose a lot of blood really fast and possibly go into shock and God forbid but what if it when so wrong that you lost the ability to have an orgasm? I'll admit that with the guys who practically have tears of joy when they see them, it's probably a fetish but so isn't the preference for little ones - any time a guy prioritizes a body part over you as a person he's being a fetishist. Ideally it's best to be with a loving partner but I remember being young and just wanting to have fun and I'm telling you that is totally possible. The guys who like large labia are usually way into going down so wouldn't you rather be with them? As for the particularly nasty poster who said that labia don't have a purpose, I would say they sure do for starters they've got nerve endings so they are organs of pleasure for the female - that is important even if you want to invoke the new civic religion of evo-psych, more pleasure for the female means more bonding of her to her mate and consequent off-spring which confers a fitness advantage upon them. Second, they protect the clitoris from over stimulation during the course of day to day activities and keep the urethra relatively free from external debris. That friend of mine who made fun of my large labia has had more UTI's than I can count and she's even landed in the hospital with a couple that turned into full blow kidney infections. I'd say labia are functional. Please whatever you have don't mutilate yourself this is just a trend. Look at the old Aerosmith logo from the 70's - the A is supposed to look like a vagina with large labia. In 70's porn they couldn't make them look bigger, they didn't have the tech, but they use to paint them to make them darker, large labia use to be very popular, they will be again at some point but regardless I hope no one who's reading this goes on and hurts themselves that way you don't deserve it - you have a right to enjoy your own body as it is - with all the nerve endings intact.

A lot of people would say a large labia is a big clit in my town. Guys around the age of 16-22 don't like large labia I feel like because they say it looks "blown out" I haven't had sex because I'm so nervous of a guy getting scared or thinking my vagina is ugly looking. Seriously. It ruins my sex life because I'm overly self conscious.

Exactly. Labia minora peeking out of the labia majora is sexy. This is the type that I picture in my fantasies. So, someone who's had the surgery would not be my fantasy woman.

Yes. Any man who is not turned on by looking at a normal vagina is a man with sexual issues. Maybe he has not accepted that his sexual orientation is towards men. Maybe he doesn't like sex that much. Maybe he has a fetish. If I were a woman and a guy criticized my appearance down there, I'd tell him I don't have time to waste with a man who has not accepted that he is gay.

And btw, any guy who would criticize you when you are vulnerable like that, is a complete as****e.

You should consider this. I have to admit, that I could love any vagina, but I would be wary of dating a girl that had had the surgery. Mainly for the same reason I would be wary of dating someone with anorexia. This person has a distorted perception of themselves, and what are the underlying psychological issues? Nevermind the mutilated vagina that may not be as responsive as a normal one.
