I have had the same thing for the past 4 years and no one has been able to give me an answer. Finally a year ago a neuologist my neurologist told me I "might" have small fiber neuropathy. From my research, I can tell you, it might be MSG sensitivity, a pinched nerve, some type of toxin you've been exposed to or even something like MS.

You should definitely go to a doctor and get checked out to rule out anything like MS. I have tingling in my face and ears as well, which rules out several serious things.

I've tried acupuncture, which helped, and chiropractics, which did not. I've resisted taking medications and am now doing a course in hypnotherapy to help me block the sensations. I also do yoga and tai chi, which seem to help also but the tingling is always there.

The main thing is to go to a doctor and try to rule out whatever he can. My neurologist told me early on he had no idea what it was or what I could do about it beyond exercising and eating right.

Hey everyone! I am 17 and I also have this pins and needles feeling. I have done some research on it because it is about to drive me crazy. I found out that cracking your back or neck can cause a disk to slip or rupture which can also cause this. I have also found that from being inactive for a period of time then being active can cause this also. If anyone can find out a quick fix for this pins and needles feeling please let me know. Thanks! :-D

After seeing several doctors, a dermatoligist, an an allergist ... I think I'm on to something. At the end of November I saw an allergist, he said I'm allergic to ASA, wich is in A LOT of over the counter pain medication like Asprin or Advil. The allergist said 1 pill will be in and still flowing threw your body for 30+ days an was told to stay away from ALL DRUGS for a month an see if it helps. Well, its been 24 days and its helped ...A LOT. Im still gettin the pins and needles but NO WHERE NEAR what it has been. So try that. Also, REACTINE allergy pill is the only allergic drug that WILL help. Take 1-2 every day an see for yourself. Good luck

I am a 53 year old male. I walk three miles everyday, but when I get hot it feels like my back is being jabbed by pins all over. I have taken vitimin b12 for a few days now, I am very pleased to say I now have no more feelings like described when I exercise! :-D

Vitamin B deficiency was probably the culprit for me, however this was due to improper absorption, not from lack of it. With a bit of research I discovered that Calcium is required for proper absorption of vitamin B which made sense to me since I had stopped drinking milk.
So Calcium deficiency was the true culprit! It does take some time to bring back the calcium levels up in your body.
It shows that for proper health, a varied nutrition rich diet helps to keep at bay many of the ailments suffered by the population.

Hi there! I was having these abnormal sensations like pins and needles and all over my body, I also had burning and tingling sensations and it lasted for more than a year. I went to see if I’m allergic to something but no, it was not a reason, I went to dermatologist but it was all ok with my skin until I finally ended up at neurologist and guess what I got diagnosed of subacute combined degeneration of spinal cord. I know I also never hearth of it before and never thought that these tingling, pins and needles might be related to something like that but it turned out to be so. Anyway this subacute combined degeneration was caused by lack of vitamin B-12 complex I actually suffered from anemia. I don’t know how vitamin B-12 deficiency may damage the nerves but I know I had exact the same symptoms like yours are. So I would recommend you to see a neurologist.

HI I WAS WONDERING IF YOUR SUBACUTE COMBINED DEGENERATION OF SPINAL Cord WAS CURED WITH MEDICATIONS AND MORE B-12 INTAKE OR HAS THE DISEASE PERMATELY MADE U NOT ABLE TO WORK?,I TO HAVE THE SAME SYMTOMS AND I AM SEEING A SPECIALIST ON THE 30TH OF THIS MONTH GIVING ME A EMG TEST,I HAVE ALSO BEEN DIAGNOSED WITH PARKANSANS DISEASE WAY BACK IN 9/24/2007,AND AM NOT ABLE TO WORK BECAUSE OF IT,AND HAVE BEEN FIGHTING THE GOVERNMENT EVER SINCE FOR MY SOCIAL SECURITY CHECKS...

I was having the tingling all over intermittently. I see a psychiatrist for depression and she said it is anxiety attacks. Since it doesn't happen every day she prescribed clonapin. It works like a charm. I also have taken a natural homeopathic Hyland's #6 Kali Phos. 6X. It works for mild anxiety. The bottle says take 4 but I take more like 8.

i have been having the pins and needles feelings in my thighs and upper arms steadily for a few weeks now. i first noticed this, however, to a lesser extent, a few months ago when i tried to stop drinking. i'm worried that my liver or nerves have been damaged by my abuse of alcohol the last few years. another thing it may be is my back. this latest episode, which is the worst it's ever been, started around the same time that i got a nasty kink in my upper back/neck. it's hard to say because i can't seem to stop drinking even though my pain/discomfort gets worse every day. it's really hard to feel this way and i feel even worse for all of you since it doesn't sound like drinking is a factor in your pain. it's really hard to live this way. i'm going to the doctor on monday. wish me luck on getting a diagnosis and on quitting drinking.

I am happy to see all these posts and know I am not alone.  I would describe the feeling as the onset of an acid trip, tingling all over.  I am a man and I feel like I'm tripping my balls off.  A friend looked at my eyes and saw they were dilated wide open yesterday.  I wish it would stop.  I keep rubbing my skin and the tingling slows down.  My brain is tingling inside too.  I wish I could rub it directly.  It seems related to heat.  Yesterday, I felt this all day long from when I woke up to when I went to sleep.  I have felt this on and off in the shower over the years (making me think it is more related to heat).  It has never been such a long-lasting problem until now, so I haven't given it much thought.

I am prescribe Effexor but recently cut my dose a little and just put in a call to my medication doctor to find out if she thinks increasing it will help.  Also, like many others here, I quit smoking cigarettes 5 months ago without replacement therapy except or smoking extra pot.  I decided yesterday to wake up today and not smoke pot at all because it might be playing into it.  Yesterday, a friend suggested it was low blood sugar, but drinking sugary beverages hasn't helped it subside at all.

Thanks for your prior posts and responses.

I seriously need help, I created an account just for this. I have the exact symptons as Bond007 on the first page. I've seen a rheumatologist, and a neurologist. Taken multiple blood tests and seen my physician multiple times, no dice. I'm going to meet with an internal medicine and dermatologist soon, but i know they won't help... This stinging needle like pain happens throughout my back, my arms, my face, neck and my chest. It doesnt happen on my stomach or legs though for some reason... It also makes me really itchy in the area of pain and after a few minutes of this pain, the stinging area will go red but without any bumps or rashes, just red. It triggers when im anxious, or nervous, or there's a sudden change in temperature sort of(Like im outside and I go into a building where it's warm)? Whenever i get worked up basically. There are some places where I go to where this pain always occur. For example, when im in the changing room, changing into shorts to work out, I always get this stinging pain. Always. Im not anxious or anything, but when I know the pain is going to happen, it comes. Im only 19, my family situation is difficult so no one really knows or cares... I've contemplated killing myself. This pain seems to be triggered more by hot temperature. But like i said earlier, now that the temperature is cold, whenever i go from a cold environment to a warm environment, I feel like I'm dying... Please help me.

Edit: I know it's not a vitamin deficiency of b12. I took a multivitamin before for a while and I was still getting the stinging pain. Something i should also mention, my neck has been really uncomfortable for these past months, it feels sort of stiff and I have to move it a lot. It never feels uncomfortable. I'm not sure if this has anything to do with it but yeahh..
