I DO THE SAME THING AT WORK WE HAVE THE GOOD ICE I CALL IT SMALL ICE LOL I CANT STOP EATTING IT

I've been eating ice for 16 months, same as Ice Queen. It was suggested that I had iron deficiency or anema, so I had my doctor check. Nothing. I'm fine. I just apparently like to eat ice.

Also, a med I take causes dry mouth, and eating ice seems to take care of that problem a lot better than just drinking something.

You need iron pills. You are anemic.

Sorry to correct you but, chewing ice doesn't cause anemia. Chewing ice is a symptom that there may be problems with iron in the body, not the cause of it.

Oh my goodness!! This is me, the ice can not be the glossy type. It has to be the milky type. I crave this ice and can't wit to wake up every morning to eat it.

I am anemic and I constantly chew ice. I crave it actually. I have always loved it, but I would say the last 3 years I have gotten to a point where I almost feel addicted! I have started with peri-menapause. Interesting to read comments here in regard to anemia. I will confirm with my Dr at my next check up if my ice addiction is tied to anemia. What would cause that I wonder and why? What benefit does your body get from it? I do take iron daily and eat what I would consider a healthy diet. But I do drink a TON of water too. Good to know...I am not alone!!! :)

I don't have this problem but looked the condition up when a new employeer who sits at the next cubicle has been eating ice constantly since she started a couple months ago. The continous crunch crunch crunch all freaking day is driving me insane. I wonder if she knows she has pica and an iron deficiency.

I am 39 and love to crunch ice, however I have correlated my stomach problems with the times I eat too much ice. The constant bloating from it affects my digestive system. I read somewhere that the cold slows down your intestinal functions. That is why in certain countries they drink warm tea after meals instead. I am trying to gain control over my addiction because it has interrupted my ability to function in every day life.
