I would like to share that i experienced the exact thing some of you described... I am shocked to see how many of us it out there suffering from bed wetting speacially while having a related dream.

I wish i knew what triggers it as it always been a mistery to me.
As like some of you i was a bed wetter as a child and then age of 6 i was being controlled by guardians by waking me up late nigh to empty my bladder.

after that i had few incidents as teenage in my own house . Ten later when i went to uni in different country i experienced first year about few times .

then 5 years later i had a incident, then another after 2 years . And another the following year and here today i ended up having one aswell.

_I never seem to find any reason behind it.. and it always been an embrassing issue for me which is why i feel so glad today to see that i am not the only 1 with such prob :-) please let me know if any1 finds good solution or reason bhind it.

How many bedwetters don't have the dream of hunting a bathroom and finding one eventually and then wake to find they wet the bed?
Seems i have memories of the dream all my life and I have wet the bed to some extent all my life.I know you younger readers aren't going to like reading this-but-at 52 ,the dreams are more numorous and the bedwetting is more regular as i age.Is that the norm-worsens with age????I have regular physicals and my prostate is normal. So I can't put blame on that at this time.I have come to realize after all the years that I must wear night time protection. So,i guess I just consent to living with it,but for the younger readers,I sure hope someone comes up with a cure that actually works without all the side effects that the current meds have.Or is this something that we all will have to live with in secrecy for the most part?I have tried the holding pee for lengthy tiems to stretch bladder, exercises to stop flow and can do all that and limiting fluid intake in the evening. The days are fine for me.I actually wear the depends for men sometimes as I am away from bathrooms for extended periods at times.I do this as a precaution when I do outdoor markets alone, rather than have a leak and wet pants if I can't get away to a bathroom.Readers ,please share your experiences on this,I think it helps all of us understand this better. You all take care.

Were you a bedwetter as a child? There are allot of us out there that were, then the problem subsided and returned later in life. Most bedwetters are very deep sleepers. For me, most of my bedwetting occurs on nights when I am very tired.I have talked to Doctors about the dream and seems they think it our subconcious mind recognizing the signal to wake from the bladder telling our brain to wake to get to bathroom. But as deep sleepers,we don't wake, but have the memory of it as a dream.Unfortunately our bladders empty some or completely as we need to releive ourselves.
Does that make any sense?
Try not to focus on it tooooo much as to not mess up your sleeping-YOU need sleep.
To help you relax-Try wearing an adult diaper,(name brand only) as the generic brands generally suck.
It's not the end of the world to do so.Allot of us have to wear them-check out the Depends website for more support.
Try getting to bed a little earlier and have a regular bedtime to help prevent overtiredness.
Write back on this subject for more support and feel free to ask for more advice or ideas.
I don't know of anyone that has reported dreams on #2-LOL.That doesn't seem to be an issue for people that I have read anywhere.
Good Luck and keep us informed on your experiences.

I too, am here because of recent bed wetting "dreams" - and I suspect that this might actually be one of the most common dreams of all. Most of those described here are very similar, with the unsuspecting person really needing a trip to the loo, dreaming that they/I am there in some toilet and - voila, let it all go.

For myself (I'm one of the luckier ones - so far) this has only happened a handful of times over the years. I'm now 71, seemingly healthy and active. I don't smoke and keep the grog to quite a low level (usually as I'm the nominated driver).

When I was about 55, I got myself a kidney stone and following the excruciating pain which lasted days before it was dragged out, I was told in no uncertain terms that if I didn't drink a lot of water each day, I'd probably get more. What an incentive to drink lots of water! So that's what I've done ever since, but only had spasmodic wetting dreams. I usually have 2 large glasses before going to bed, knowing I'll have to get up at some stage anyway.

I don't think drinking (anything) has all that much to do with it. If you're going to have THAT dream, it will probably happen. The worst time I find is visiting someone else, and under these conditions, I wear a small plastic bag (a tested safeway vegetable bag) held in place with a elastic/rubber band. Took a search to find one the right size, but seems to work ok and system is easy to use. I suspect a condom and rubber/elastic band could be pressed into service too, having filled one with water when I was a kid. Held an enormous amount.

Sorry girls, not much good to you.

Myself at 52,being a bedwetter for life, think also that the dream is just needing a trip to bathroom.Just that some of us don't wake in time and others do.Just the other night I woke in the morning totally soaked with no memory of the dream.Lucky for me I always wear a diaper and plastic pants at night. But some nights I have the dream and wake in time. Most of the time that I wet overnight, there is memory of the dream, almost so real that sometimes it seems that I was awake when I wet.I don't wet everynight but wake to use the bathroom like a normal person.Crazy, but this what I experience.

Hi, I am a 43 yr old woman who has had at least 5 episodes of this happening in the last few months aways accompanied by a dream of getting to a bathroom. I too have that uncomfortable feeling that my bladder is too full and I really have to go so I force myself to pee harder, thats when I actually wet the bed and wake up to run into the bathroom. I have never been a bed wetter as a child, although my sister was until quite late in age. It is somewhat comforting to know I am not unusual in this although highly embarassing. I was attributing it to the fact I am getting older and incontinence is fairly routine in the women of my family. It seems everyone here agrees it seems more common that we thought, although no solid basis for the occurence has been offered. The ages and history seem to be all over the place. Some insight as to what to do in the prevention of re-occurance would be helpful.

If you never had bedwetting before in your life-I suggest you see your Doctor to be sure there aren't any new health problems developing that you may not be aware of.
If you are in good health, which I sincerely hope you are,We all can help you deal with the problem. It is not the end of the world to have bedwetting episodes but there are things you can do to make it much less troublsome.
I have dealt with it to some degree for my 52 yrs and I don't wet everynight, but must wear protection to bed in case I do.Please keep updating on here and I will certainly help if I can.
Take care.

Hi, I'm a thirty year old male and was a chronic bed wetter late into my child hood.. around 5-7 years old. Since then, there have been many times that I have had "the wet dream". Over the years I've identified several different specific dreams I've had, and a reoccurring scenario for new dreams that I could recognize as an early warning. As many of the posts above mention, it's usually always having to do with needing to go pee and cant.. or if I am peeing, it just won't stop, or it won't relieve the need to pee more. I have realized that there is always a lot of water involved. The very solution to my avoidance of wetting the bed, even at my age, is to learn these dreams so that you are aware of what they mean, that you need to wake up and get to the bathroom NOW. There are times I still don't wake up /quite/ in time, but as a whole, I can usually realize what is going on and wake myself out of sleep soon enough to get to the bathroom. I guess this could be seen as some sort of Lucid Dreaming, but this is the extent of that ability.

There are some measures that I have taken to make sure that I don't have a wet dream at night. First, I try not to drink a lot of liquids before bed.. yea, I know common sense. Second, no matter what happens, I go pee /right/ before getting into bed. I might go pee, forget to set the alarm clock.. I go pee again, then to bed.

A friend of mine had a device as a kid, it was a sensor that clipped onto his underwear and a buzzer that clipped onto his shirt collar. When the sensor got wet, the buzzer would go off. Yea, I know that undermines out self confidence, as a 30 year old, to have to have something to wake me up when I wet the bed.. but it could be useful for some of you. It's all part of conditioning your subconsciousness to know when you need to wake up. Hopefully you guys can get this beat. Who know why it happens, but with work, we can over come it.

For the record, I haven't wet the bed in around 5 years... got close a couple times though. :-)

Keep at the work guys and gals.

Almost the same as everyone else im 18 female but recently I've had the dream quite often like almost almost once a weekend the dreams have changed, now before I urinate on the toilet think to myself " is this a dream" and then I do things to make sure im awake like touch or pinch myself. I decide its real life and pee anyway. I've also been doing it in the non dream world now. Sometimes not all the time but I'll be going pee in real life and check and make sure its not a dream. I'd really like some answers or feedback it seems to have no trigger and happens at random.

Medusaa-I read your posting-Are you actually waking before wetting the bed?Or is all that you mention happen like during the dream?
I sometimes remember the wetting dream so real that I think I must have been awake but I'm sure I wasn't or I would've gotten up and went to toilet. This whole dream thing is so real to me sometimes but so is the wet clothing and bed when I wake.My dream usually involves having to pee badly and having trouble finding a bathroom, then I find a bathroom and pee a with great feeling of relief.
I think every night before going to bed that I can make my self wake during this dream, but usually I don't wake in time.

Most of the time i wake up before wetting the bed but in the dream i already started going. In every dream its the same thing peeing with relief. Last night I had the same dream but I didn't wake in time to make it to the bathroom because in the dream I was so sure that it was real. Im only 18 and spend the night at my boyfriends house a lot so im so scared it'll happen again when im staying there

Medusaaa,
Were you a bedwetter as a child? Even once in awhile? Any bladder issues during the day?
If not,I suggest you visit your doctor to check for another possible health problem that may be hidden at this point.
The bathroom dream seems to go along with bedwetting as bedwetters are very deep sleepers. We don't wake from the
bladders signal to the brain that it is full and needs to empty.
Thus the incident is like a dream through our subconcious mind.
I think people blame the dream for wetting the bed-I blame the deep sleep patterns on the bedwetting and the dream is a
by-product of the deep sleeping.
I can sleep through a thunderstorm that keeps everybody else awake.
I'm no doctor but after 52 years of this ,I have learned allot on the subject of bedwetting.
If I can help a younger person live their life free of bedwetting, that is great !!!!
Another cause of bedwetting is stress,so if there is a new stresser in your life, address that if possible.
Now who could be stressed out in the world the way things are financially right now-LOL.
Life is more stressful in these times and that may lead to more people experiencing the problem we share.
Another thing is if you are very tired at bedtime, possibly not getting to bed at regular time like you used-keeping later hours?
Overtiredness can lead to a deeper sleep-thus not waking to your bladders signal.
Think about the issues I mentioned-see if any of that helps.
If the problem persists,You will need to tell your boyfriend. If he is a good guy and really cares about you,He should be very caring
and supportive about the issue of wetting at night.
The other thing you can do is wear and adult diaper at night-It's not the end of the world-sure beats wet pj's and bedding.
It's no big deal to buy them at a store, pick a store where people don't know you if you live in a small town. That may help avoid
the anxiety of running into someone you know. Can buy online also-several sites-Magic Medical is where I deal-very good.
Wearing protection at night will help you relax and sleep better.
I know I have been caught away from home overnight-no diaper with and I hardly slept at all because of the fear of an incident.
I have a very supportive wife,so I have it easy-would hate to have to start dating again as I know it could be very touchy with
new partner.
I hope some of this helps, please write again.Try not to worry toooo much about your problem,as to add stress, possibly
make it all worse.Should help knowing that you are not alone with the problem.
Take care,keep us informed.

I'm having exactly the same dream as everyone else before wetting.
I'm on daily does of 50mg imipramine. It seems to help to reduce number of wet episodes.
In most cases, I would wake up before it even leaks.
Sometimes, in my dream it had already finishing peeing and I woke up dry (hurray).
Sometimes, it leaks a little more (wetting just my undies) and I wake up.

For about 10 years, I have not been waking up in a a pool until this morning.
For 1 week, I was off Imipramine thinking that my control should be better now that I no longer need the silly Imipramine. I was utterly wrong.
I woke up in my private swimming pool feeling so embarrassed.
I guess I have go back on Imipramine for the rest of life.

Imipramine showed effectiveness for about 30% to 40% of people.
It could well be a placebo as there's no medical proof.
Well! I will try whatever it works, placebo or not.

Glad to hear the meds work for you.Thats awesome !!!
I have tried many over the years to have none really help me.
I seem to be the one to suffer the side effects that are worse than the actual bedwetting.
I always suggest to any new bedwetter to see their doctor to check general health .
Most doctors will prescribe meds that may help if no other issues are found.
Some of us kinda give up on a cure after so many years-I'm 52 now and deal with the
wetting prety good-just a fact of my life-could always be a worse health problem.
I have always ,even as a child been such a deep sleeper, just don't wake like I should.
Young wetters, don't be afraid to see a doctor-there may be help for you .
