Hernia surgery 4 months ago and still have swelling and pain. Surgeon sending me to a urologist
I had my hernia surgery 5 months ago and my right testicle is still too large.I am wearing boxer shorts and a waist size bigger in pants. I am still having mild aching pain in both areas of my lower abdomen and scrotal area. Surgeon is sending me to a urologist to get his opinion. Urination is ok but aching in the area after sex.
Urologist said it would go away on it's own. Yea right, but how long???
I had right side open surgery for hernia repair after I had laprascopic surgery two weeks earlier. Had to go back for the second surgery because the mesh was not big enough to cover or support 7 hernias in the abdominal area. Three days I began pouring blood out of my surgery area and it ran like water faucet for about 5 hours. I changed bandages 6 times. Finally putting ice bag on it stopped the flow. Now, I am having the most severe sharp pains and extreme burning sensations whenever I move at all. I am calling my doctor tomorrow for my followup appointment cause I cannot stand much more of this. I have no more pain pills. After reading all these other posts it looks like I have several weeks to go with all the swelling, pain and burning. The burning is the worst.
hey how is ur husband feeling now...?i m feeling the same prob post surgery of inguinal hernia, swollen testis, i m too much worried plz tell smthing abt that
Thank you thank you thank you…..Your post is amazing. I have experienced almost identical problems with severe pain and unfortunately constipation due to the pain meds. But finding this site and your post has answered many questions. The part that annoys me is doctors do not take the time to discuss post operatively what will happen and so as a consequence people like you and me are left wondering whats wrong. Its been two weeks today for me so its early days but thank you for your posting
I'm only 5 days into post op and same here regarding scrotum / testicles. Umm..... didn't your surgeon warn you guys about this? Mine did and he said it could last MONTHS. He said "For awhile, the first few weeks or maybe even months, you're going to think that the hernia came back, as there is going to be swelling and tenderness in the right side of your scrotum. It's the bodies reaction to the hernia being there in the first place and it's just more obvious in the absence of the hernia".
I'm not concerned at this point and just hopeful that it doesn't persist as long a some of yours have. Wow!
yes i just had surgery friday the 6 of december, and i have te same symptoms..swollen penis, swollen testicles and swollen srrotum..no pain tho..also very discolored including black red and purple
I am 81 years old and had bilateral inguinal surgery 4 days ago and my whole scrotum hs swelled up about 3 times its normal size and is completely dark purple. Also my whole penile area is the same color. I was not circumzied as a child. The hematoma has infiltrated this whole area and when I urinate I spray and dribble due to the swelling. I am very afraid of getting a urinary bladder infection or worse, because this area is constantly wet. The swelling is so bad I cannot pull back the fore skin to clean properly. I am very very concerened and worried because the doctor did not prescribe any preventative antibiotics. I was led to believe that laproscopic surgery was not so invasive as general suregery. I had several urinary bladder surgeries in the past and am very worried about the worst. I see the surgeon in another three days. Pray, because I am one big black and blue mess. constipation is another nightmare to deal with which only aggravates the post surgery problems.
The future right now does not look to encouraging! What next???

I am 44 YOA I had this surgery in Nov 13, I did experiences large swelling of the RHS testical from the 2nd to the 4th day after surgery.
After about 8 or 9 days after surgery I did notice the swelling subside.
I did experience great difficulty getting out of be in the morning for about two weeks after surgery.
After about a month and 1/2 I was starting to feel normal again.
I am now 3 moths after surgery and all is good.
Make sure you ask your surgeon about the symptoms after surgery so it will not be so daunting while you are recovering. I did not ask; therefore, my surgeon did not inform me, so I was quite upset when it occured.
I forgot to add, yes I did experience constaption as well and it was about day 4 or 5 after surgery and yes it was like giving birth to a cow!! but all was good after that for me.
