I am only a 17 year old boy going on 18 but i to have experienced these problems. I am almost certain to what causes the pain in my case but it may help others as well. Again its a sharp pain in the center of my belly button right down to my groin, it seems to be most painful when i stand quickly like i have pulled something inside me or someone has just stabbed my belly button. Also when peeing it would hurt quit badly, i figured out how to avoid it by slowly leaning my chest forward towards my toilet as i would urinate. My symptoms would only ever last about a few hours, and even then i could handle them, just slow movements, but if i were to put my money on anything that would cause it, it is one of two things. The combination on not eating proper nutrition foods, meaning i get it bad when all i eat is greasy food like mc donalds. Another factor to contribute to this is not drinking any fluids with this greasy food which in turn makes it feel worse. I think the combination of drinking fluids and healthy food would help to avoid these problems all together.... Now one more reason i believe this may happen and this one is a long shot im not saying it causes the problems, but i notices it after masturbating or ejaculation. Not the very day i have done it but the next day or 2 when my body is reproducing sperm, it seems if i eat the wrong foods (greasy) it makes it much worse. Probably a long shot but i do notice it then. But if i do happen to eat healthy foods after ejaculation i have no problem what so ever.

I've had these same symptoms for a while. I researched days on end to find what it could be. I've had all of the same symptoms you all have. Finally one day my belly button starting oozing some liquid that smelled bad. I waited it out for about a week and got a doctors opinion who advised me to put antibiotic in my belly button to stop it (which made no sense because this was infection trying to get out of my body). To make a long story short I got a catscan and a ultrasound. The emergency room doctor knew exactly what it was. I had a Urachal cyst. I'm not saying you all have them because they are somewhat rare but I was someone that said "can't be me." I would strongly encourage for you to look up the symptoms and see if any match what you feel. I ended up having a two part surgery and have been fine ever since. I told myself I would come respond to all of these because I know how painful and scary it is to feel something that no one can diagnose.

I thought I was seriously the only one who ever expiriencdd this terrible pain! I have had this since middle school & I am now a senior, it's a pain I can not describe other than what everyone has already said. If you sit down and get up it feels like a thread inside you is pulling on your insides below your belly button and all the way down to your bladder area. It also hurts while you urinate. It's awful. It makes me scared to stretch. I have told my parents and the dr. There is no answer in what it is. I hate dealing with this and I don't want to the rest of my life.

Hey everyone. I have had this problem off and on since I was 13 or so, but in the last two and a half years (I am almost 21 now), the pain has gotten much worse and is something that plagues me on a daily basis. It has drastically lowered the quality of my life, and I am desperate for answers.

I think we can all agree that this is getting ridiculous. There are obviously a lot of us out there who have this problem, but none of our doctors seem to think it's a real issue. This is a unique and complicated medical mystery that is going to take a team of doctors working together to fix. To each of our doctors we are only a single, strange case--but if we could get all of our doctors to collaborate and compare our medical histories, what they have and haven't tried, etc., they will but much more likely to reach a diagnosis/prognosis. I'm sure all of you are just as frustrated with our medical system as I am, and I think we're going to have to be a little more proactive in raising awareness in the medical field about this issue if we want to get results.

I would like to propose that we form a Facebook group so that we can more easily communicate with and support one another. It has been so comforting for me to know that there are other people out there who know what I'm going through, and having someone to talk with more regularly about this I think would be a relief for us all. If you are interested in joining, please PM me!

In the mean time, I think we should start seriously comparing our medical histories and what seems to aggravate/alleviate this pain. For example, I have noticed that coffee, alcohol, and heat seem to make my "string" pain worse, while drinking lots of water and eating bananas (potassium?) helps, even if only slightly. Has anyone else noticed certain foods/stimuli that aggravate this pain (aside from stretching your torso/being active)?

I am going to work on some kind of questionnaire so that we can more easily compare these things. However, I will have to post it on the Facebook page...I made a similar kind of online survey for this group a year or two ago and my post was taken down by the mods almost immediately :(

Again, please PM me if you are interested in started a Facebook group for this issue or just want someone to talk to about this, and good luck to all of you.

Hi everyone,

I'm a 20 year old male and I have the same issue right now.  I'm convinced it's some sort of strain, because the last time it happened as well as this time, it started when I got up from my computer chair after sitting awkwardly (leaning back) for a couple hours.

I'm guessing some connective tissue or muscle attached to the bladder is involved, since it gets worse when urinating.

Good luck with yours!

So weird! I get these pains too. They're really bad when I pee and on days that I get the pain I tend to pee a lot. Mine only started about a year after I got my bellybutton pierced so I thought it had something to do with them piercing a nerve or muscle or something but reading these stories and seeing that some of you have had it your whole life really freaks me out. I'd love to know what it is.

I agree 100%. I also tried to gather people together from this website (which seems to be the same place everyone is finding when they google for this), and it too was immediately removed by mods. That's effing ridiculous. This is a serious condition that is unknown to medical science in 2013! That is just unacceptable! And for the mods of this website to try to prevent people from getting together to solve it? Unconscionable. Shame on you!

I get this exact sensation from time to time too and it has happened pretty much all my life! I did work out yesterday with weights more than normal but I never did that as child certainly so not sure if that is the cause? It is happening to me now so I decided to google it and so glad I found this thread. My sister and I have talked about it before but good to know we are not the only ones.

I have had these sensations off and on for the last 25 years. Usually happens from sitting in sofa and standing up. Feels like sharp pain like a piece of string attached from behind bellybutton down to groin area. Need to sit down agasin for a few min and then ok. I write it off as a pinched nerve situation, and nothing serious. Just walk it off. Going to a Dr would be a waste of time.

Ibs. Sharp pain In the stomach, moves around to the back near kidney area...a form of irritable bowel syndrome. Your guts are holding a vast amount of unprocessable acids. I have this problem. Grit your teeth the pain will go away and damage will not occur if...you eat right and sleep properly. Drop beef for salmon and omega 3 rich fish, chicken is ok but not heavily spiced, mostly all spices with the exception of a dash garlic, lemon, salt should not be ingested, lots of green or fiber rich vegetables, probiotic yogurt, and avoid anything containing large amounts of fat...drink water only unless you want to make a fresh smoothly, if do avoid loads if sugar. Sleep 8 hours a night and find a way to shrug off stress no matter the cost. 6mos later you'll b back to normal drinking coffee eating pizza like it never happened. This problem is caused by bacterial infection in the stomach lining which decreases acid reduction allowing strong acids to go I to the small intestine which in turn is picked up by other organs explains the curl you over pain you are experiencing. From experience...if you become overly stress for longer durations or eat too unhealthy or a combination the immune system will dampen and infection can reoccur. This is genetic, an unfortunate flaw that a decent percent of us have. you will learn as you age what your threshold is and what u can and cannot handle, don't cross it when you figure it out or else you will be in a bad place in the future. This cursing over pain is the beginning and past that door leads a scary world that includes surgery and even a heightened possibility of cancer. My reco, eat right, smoke some pot and mellow out, anyways it's just life right man! Lol

I have have similar pain like this throughout my life.  It went away for the longest time, about 2 years.  Then today, it came back, and I decided to press my fingers into the area just below my bellow button.  And wow, a jolt of pain went up to the belly button and down to the tip of my penis.  It lasted only as long as I held my hand there, which was 2 seconds.  Usually it's just a dull pain, and I don't bother with it.  It goes away after a few hours, maybe after a meal, and some water.  However, this time was different... The pain did go away, or barely noticable.  However, I ejaculated, and my semen was bloody.  First time I've ever had that.  I am wondering if its because of pressing my fingers into it, that maybe caused it to bleed internally. There is no blood in my urine, only in semen.  I am going to wait a day or two, and see if there is blood in my ejaculate again.  If there is, then I will be seeing a doctor.  Has anyone else had blood in their semen after feeling, or perhaps, before feeling this pain?

I'm a 19 year old guy and I've had this probrlem for years also. Just like every1 says it feels like a string of tisue tearing in half but mine goes from my belly button straight to my bum hole and when I get up quickly from sitting down every other month or so it hurts like no other pain I've ever had.I was thinking it could be the web like tissue that holds are guts together could be stretching and causing the pain but heck I don't know.

To everyone who has posted about this pain PLEASE READ!!! I have had this EXACT pain for 18 years and just figured out what it was yesterday ... via alot of reading and forcing my urologist to do an ultrasound on my abdominal area ... he was embarrassed when he discovered that I was correct in my diagnosis and he was wrong!! I have a urachal abnormality ... they are "rare" ... 1 in 5000 ... especially in adults. That is why most doctors dont even consider that possibility. There are 5 different variations on them ... they usually are diagnosed in infancy/childhood ... if let go long enough they can cause complications that are bad ... sepsis, cancer, and other issues. An ultrasound is a cheap, non-invasive, painless test. FORCE your doctor to perform it ... I would even pay for it out of my own pocket if necessary ... I wish I would have 18 years ago ... the pain I have dealt with has been awful. Best of luck to all of you. Peace

If you drink a lot of unhealthy drinks then that is the case it thickens in your bladder and you have some serious problems and that is where it occurs. And yes it hurts like a bi***

You could have gastrointestinal pain. Or something wrong with your digestive track.
