had dhes symptoms for nearly a year now
hello there, thank for advices
Look into hip dysplasia as a possible cause. You must seek diagnosis from a hip specialist. Most doctors and radiologists do not know how to calculate the ratios for diagnosis

Have same symptoms, was initially told diviculitous ? had ct scans, dyes, x-rays, put on meds for 15 days, told not to eat nuts, could be the colon, thought it was maybe appendix, pain subsided and disappeared for months but has now returned, and radiates out from right hip, electric sharp jolts of pain lasting about 5-10 seconds but quite intense
I was lifting a heavy wrought iron shelving unit this month, carrying it up 5 steps, then down the next day, along with items on the unit, twisting and turning as I did this. I then started having hot, stabbing, excruciating pain in the hip, on the side, while walking or standing only. It seemed to ease up with ibuprofen, using a heating pad, and doing gentle bicycle movements in the warm pool water, but yesterday, after sitting in the car for hours traveling and sightseeing, I could barely walk because of the stabbing, hot pain. I'm trying heat again, flexeril and ibuprofen. Now my back is hurting from compensating by putting more weight on the other side while standing or walking. I have fibromyalgia, arthritis in my lower back, stenosis, and diabetes ... not sure what the problem is, but the pain takes my breath away. Any ideas?
I was hospitalized with diverticulitis (1st ever attack!) last month, but was having horrible lower back pain too when I went to ER, then was admitted. The other problems subsided with liquid diet for a few days, then soft diet, then regular diet, antibiotics, IVs, etc. Then I started having severe, hot, stabbing pain on the outer right hip while walking or standing, with bearing weight on that side! It takes my breath away! I had lifted a heavy shelving unit up and down 5 steps and that is when this pain started a day later. My doc said ibuprofen and heating pad the first time it happened a week or so ago, but it came back yesterday with a vengeance. I'm trying heat, ibuprofen, flexeril, and resting it today. Have you seen your doctor?
Doc told me that too, but it's returned with a vengeance yesterday. It's surely painful! Pray you are doing better!
Now that you mention it, I have a hernia on my right side and the pain is directly behind it. I need to mention this to my doctor thank you
I'm not a Physician but it sounds like Hip Impingement to me. because I have been experiencing the same shooting pain as everyone on this site.

I am a 30 year old flight attendant.I have been flying since 18.From the past 2 yrs i have been in terrible pain.It started once on a layover in HkG where i woke up to excruciating pain in my lower back right hand side above the hip.I couldnt walk but the prescribed painkillers helped.Ever since i have done tons of tests ,gone to all kinds of docs n also tried shocks, acupuncture, exercise,Yoga etc.All my MRIs,Xrays,EMG etc r clean. The doctors detected Vit D deficiency n that was treated immediately however the pain wouldn't go.It was only when i was tired it would start especially after evening.Sometimes it even radiates to my right knee. Its so annoying like someone's stabbing u in ur back. After several months it would go when i was nt flying but come back when i would fly alot.No doctors could help me and i feel like noone believes me either. At times im in tears but i knw when i wake up its usually gone.Thats how i have survived and learnt to ignore it since 2 yrs now. However im giving up flying as people say it could be an occupation hazard. My symptoms match sciatica but docs say that sciatica will show in ur reports.I have lost faith in medicine.

This sounds like what I have, and have been dealing with for 46 years! I get sharp stabbing pains in the ball and socket of my left hip joint, never know when it's going to happen. The pain is so intense that it's unbearable, and have been to so many doctors and other professionals over the years that I've lost count. A few years ago I went to a clinic in Illinois and got prolotherapy and was pain free for two years, was it a fluke or did it really help, not sure. I'd go there again but it was so expensive and insurance didn't cover. I went to a different place for prolotherapy in Milwaukee because he was less expensive, but it didn't work. It's gotten to the point that I'm afraid of going anywhere, and afraid to drive. Have had back problems for years and it seems to happen more when my back is really sore.
Had surgery back in 1984, orthopedic doc removed the bursa, lengthened the iliotibial band, and chipped off some calcification. Woke up from surgery with the stabbing pains he was trying to fix, was so depressing.
Please let me know if you've found any relief.

This is my second time replying to someone, and so hoping someone will have an answer. Your description of the pain sounds just like mine. It's the worst pain I've ever felt, worse even than childbirth. I've been dealing with this since 1971, and I'm at the end of my rope! I've been to see so many doctors and other professionals, with no relief with the possible exception of one. I went to a prolo therapist and after about eight months of injections was pain free for two years. Because the hip episodes sometimes go for a month or two without flaring I wasn't sure if it was the treatments that helped or not, I'm leaning towards the treatments helping though. The problem is the cost, very expensive and no insurance coverage. I went to a different prolotherapy place when it flared up last November, but it didn't work this time. He was cheaper, but less aggressive with the injections, guess you get what you pay for.
I had a bad flare up while driving out of town today and had to pull into a parking lot till the stabbing pains subsided, it's impossible to drive when it happens. If you've found any relief please post again, I'm desperate for relief.
