Hi there,
I know this is an old post but did you ever got better? I'm going to 4 months after surgery and having the same symptoms as everyone else here.

Did you ever get better? I'm having the same symptoms. I'm 4 months post my surgery. I just hope this scratchy and burning feeling gets gone forever and I can go on with my life. I just want to go back to normal and not feel anything in my throat at all. Thank you everyone that answers and give us any hope.
I have had the exact same experience. I am a year post op now and have been to the ENT three times following the procedure. ENT tells me everything is fine but things just dont feel right.
Hi revolutionite110865
I am having the exact same problems and I am 3 and a half months after tonsillectomy. My throat feels dry and scratchy and swollen and sometimes I have ear sharp pain that lasts some seconds.
I was wondering if you found a cure or what happened. Can you give me some update on your health now that it's been more than a year since you posted this.
Thank you very much. Reading this thread gave me some peace of mind and it's so important to know that I am not alone in this struggle.
What about now dear?
Are you still having those issues. I am also almost 4 months after the surgery and suffering dry, itchy, and scratchy throat all the time.

Did you recover eventually. I am almost 4 months after surgery and the throat is killing me. It's like a patch stuck there causing dryness, itching, and pain.
I have recently had my tonsils removed, and I am on my fifth day of recovery, but I still feel like there is a something like a lump in my throat. Is this normal?
I had surgery of tonsils several months ago. Now I sometimes feel sore throat, pain in neck, problems swallowing. Is it normal after surgery, or I have to go to the hospital?
oh this is crazy to me! i read everywhere that it takes 14 days to fully recover but im telling you guys, its been almost a month and a half and my breath still smells bad, like tonsil stones. today i was brushing my teeth i spit out a scab. the left side of my throat feels like theres something in it, its kinda scratchy and tender. and also it feels as if something is behind my nose, like it wants to come out when i gargle, but i can get it to come out. i also heard that the problem could be lingual tonsils. the doctors almost never pulls them out and often times after somebody that has had a tonsillectomy the lingual tonsils compensate for the palatine tonsils being removed by enlarging the lingual tonsils. i made a follow up appointment to make sure i dont need these removed because under my jaw, where the back of my tongue is is tender and swollen. this very well might be your guys issue too. look it up and make another appointment with the ent and have him or her check your lingual tonsils. everything you guys have mentioned is what im going thru. if i massage under my tongue, where my jaw is, it feels so tender. make sure your still gargling and taking care of teeth as well as your throat.
I had my tonsils out dec 2021 I'm 57. At follow up I complained of scar tissue across back of my tongue and in front of where tonsil was on right and gagging/puking and food getting caught up. Ent acted like I was crazy had me come back in 3 weeks. Still suffering, he didn't want to fo surgery bit I couldn't live like that. Did the surgery and the pain and recovering was way worse than the tonsillectomy! I'm 4 weeks post op, still have pain in throat and ear. I also have HUGE bumps on the back of my tongue that are painful but also rub the surgical area. Thankfully one of my children had a bottle of lidocaine and that's how I get thru the days. I have a follow up this week.
Hi yes I am 2 and a half months post tonsillectomy. Still very dry throat. Swallowing issues. Still eating soft foods . Did yours finally resolve?
Did anyone find an answer to this? I’m having the same symptoms.

Hi I am 64 yes I’m still having dryness and trouble swallowing 3 months after tonsillectomy . Did yours finally clear up ?
Sorry for that ridiculous comment about AIDS in relation to your issue. My 23 year old daughter just had her tonsils and adenoids out and it was very difficult. We are now 5 weeks out from the surgery and she is complaining about painful swallowing and headaches. Not sure what is happening. Doctor saw her today and said it still looked unusually inflamed and prescribed her antibiotics. She is so upset that she even had the surgery. Are you still feeling not great? How long has it been now?
