Mine started out with a lot of canker sores, swollen lip, then my lymph nodes started swelling and the next day I ended up having over 10 canker sores all over my mouth (tongue, inside lip, cheeks and even on my tonsils). I went to my dentist and she thought it might be an initial outbreak of herpes simplex (the one that causes cold sores). I didn't have cold sores ever before and there didn't appear to be any on my lips but my lips were very dry and cracked and what looked like a lot of holes. I kept getting more and more canker sores everyday (probably up to 40 by now). My tongue, lips, cheek and throat were very swollen. My throat hurt so much that swallowing water was even difficult, i didn't want to talk or eat.
The dentist put me on an antiviral medication, acyclovir, 200mg 5 times a day. I've been taking it for 4 days now, along with some home remedies. She also prescribed me 2% lidocaine rinse to numb your mouth for a little while. Additionally, I am rinsing my mouth 2-3 times with hydrogen peroxide (mixed one part peroxide with 2 parts water) and swishing it and gurgling it a few times then rinse with water. It stings a bit, but give it 5 minutes and your mouth feels better. I've found that the sores shrink in size and heel faster than most of my canker sores in the past do (when i've had one or two) and don't treat them at all. I'm also drinking a lot of water and milk. I find the milk soothing. I am also eating yogurt (with probiotics). First few bites sting but I also find this the most soothing thing to eat because its cold and it seems to make my sores not hurt for awhile. I'm also taking vitamin supplements (vitC, vitB complexes, zinc, folic acid) and also taking acidophilus pills to boost my probiotics (especially since i'm rinsing my mouth with peroxide which kills everything, even the good bacteria). I'm using a lot of lip balm just to keep my lips moist. I'm really stressed right now, which may have caused the onset of this break out or infection. I've been sleeping a lot in the past few days too. I don't know if it is anything alone that is helping but the sores have finally stopped forming and i'm finally feeling much better....i'm on day 6 of this and am praying it goes away very soon. This is by far one of the most painful things i've had to deal with. Best of luck!
what should i do??????????????
I went to the doctor who just took one quick look at my throat and said it was a bacterial infection and that everything else was related to it. He prescribed Amoxicillin that I have to take three times daily for ten days. I'm on day two of taking them and my throat is already feeling a lot better. My gums are still very swollen and a few of the canker sores have gone away. It's still very hard to eat and brush, so I'm still very worried about this. I have never had problems with my gums and I did have a routine checkup with my dentist 2 days before my symptoms showed up and everything was fine then. I just want this to go away, I have never hated brushing and eating so much in my life..
on sunday i have had a sore throat... monday it exculated into a fever, then tuesday into fever with sores on my gums and tongue... now its friday... i cant swallow or fully move my tongue because of all the sores in my mouth...
this is very uncomfortable...

I got ulsa's forming on the top right of my lip, then another on my lip. My throat become very sore and my glands went up massively and are still swelling. It hurts for me to swollow and eat and recently i been dizzy, high temperature, feeling sick (but not being physically sick) and very weak. My Gums started swelling at the back of my teeth so they're hidden and started to increase, now my gums are red but not bleeding just very painful and are now noticeable. My tongue has formed a white layer and i cant taste anything, even though i brush everynight and even brush my tongue. I have just started taking Paracillin but i dont know if its working or not. I've lost my appitite to eat anything and force feed myself as i think its the cause of feeling sick but everything i eat is too painful to chew and swollow, so then i dont want to eat it. Any Answers on what i can do?
I also got a fever and a headache.
This lasted for about a week; I couldn't do anything, I basically just went to class and to bed everyday. And at one point I was so dehydrated that my lips god really dry and smiling made little cuts happen. My gums also ended up feeling really sensitive, so that eating food was even more painful.
Went to the health center on campus, and they said I had either strep or mono, and did tests for both but both were negative. So they say its a virus. Which basically means you gotta just deal with it. BUT if its not too painful, gargle a teaspoon (or spoonful?) of salt with a cup of water. The doctor said to do it - apparently what it does is it brings white blood cells to fight off the infection in the mouth - and it really helped make the canker sores go away. I'm guessing I had a canker sore in my throat as well, because when the one's in my mouth went away so did my sore throat.
I got better in a week. But still don't know what it was. :/

herpes. now you know why your parents told you not to grow up too fast. lesson learned?
Oral herpes can be passed as easily as sharing a drink with someone, so let's just ignore the slightly condescending tone of this post and try to actually help.
