Well it's good to hear that it works out! I only ask because there's a lot of people who are out there who post things that are supposedly helpful but really aren't very authoritative. So thanks for that. Sorry to be skeptical of you ;)

By the way I just saw elsewhere on the forum that you said that this is your mission--are you a priest or missionary or something?I am only asking out of curiosity. It would be a first for me:)

suboxone is horrible. I went to rehab for 5 days for using vicodin and other pain medications due to 2 back surgeries.
Because I will not follow my doctors plan of meetings 5 days a week for 6 hours he will not give me anymore suboxone.
So I am doing it cold turkey :'( It does suck.. My father passed away so I am dealing with that. My daughter who is 15 moved in with her grandparents. It seems like everything is falling apart. My husband has stood by my side like you would not believe.
He is amazing. I don't want to be on anything anymore. I have had enough of these doctors pushing pills. I will suffer through this and hopefully GOD and my daddy will be their to help me.

Hi I have been on suboxome for five months. I know it works very well for me and literally
was a life saver. Great tool for getting off anything opiate based and not at the stage
yet where I am thinking of tapering down since it works so well for pain as well.
I know that the slower you go the better. That being said everyone is different.
Do what is best for you and take your time. Perhaps it is too fast and stay as low as you
can for a while and see how you are at that point.

I agree with both opinions that suboxone is a life saver and a scam all wrapped into one. when i started suboxone 2 years ago i saw it as a life saver, but now 2 years later and having learned a lot more about the various types of opiates and withdrawals, i am beginning to see things differently, i wouldnt go as far as calling it a scam, but i do strongly believed it is over prescribed. And patients are often not fully informed. I made a decision based on my doctors recommendation. And, I do believe that there are some doctors who are more in it for the money than for the patients wellbeing.

I agree with you 100%. The sub can be a live saver and is some what of a scam as well. This drug was not studied enough to be put on the market and the doses they are giving people are insane. I read about people taking 24 mgs of sub, man thats enough to last a week. I have been on the agent orange 4 years and i have tapered to 6 mgs in the last month. The taper from 16 mg to 8 mg was a breeze as i did that in 2 days. But the lower the dose the tougher it gets. Age and the amount of time taken are very important as well. This c**p effects speech and effects your memory as well. I wish i would have never heard of the sub as it has had many adverse effects on my life. Yes, money is the main issue with many. My sub dr wants cash only, no checks, no credit card. I have the best insurance in the world but he will not work with insurance. This drug is over prescribed and the dose given is way to high. I had been talking 16 mgs for 4 years and went to 8 mgs in 2 days.....i mean WTF!!...seems like we are pawns of big drug. I am going to give it hell to get off this c**p and get my life back as the longer you take this c**p the more the sub turns on you....go to........and find out from real people that can tell you about this c**p and the ways it can ruin your life...JMO

See now this is where telling the truth comes in. Unfortunetly I am one of many opiate addicts out there. Now a lot of people who go in to a methadone clinic or get on suboxone don't realize that if you're not honest about how much you're doing a day and get more than you should you are obviously going to get high. About white knuckling it that is ridiculous that they think suboxone is a scam... I have white knuckled it and btw you can DIE doing that. You could have a heart attack, stroke... go into seizures. When I first quit I didn't have the information about it I should have. Now that I know all of this I have realized that it is irresponsible and dangerous.
What I figure is if you need suboxone to quit that is okay!! No matter what anyone say. I did it cold turkey the last time and this time around I am trying suboxone. If you can do it cold turkey and want to take those chances then all the power to you but if you'd like to save yourself the pain and worry of the effects withdrawal can have on your body like sever pain, sweats, diarhea, headaches, lack of sleep and quite possibly seizures, stroke or heart attack then suboxone is a perfectly logical way to go. At least it is safe!!
Sorry if this insulted anyone but I've done this both ways and would never go back to trying cold turkey. Although I do agree with most of you's who talk of doctors wanting you on them for too long. That is true... if you have the willpower to wean off of them on your own then do so. Or tell your doctor that it's either he weans you off quickly or you will do it because I know some people who have been on suboxone for 6 years now and that is definitely not something I want to be doing. I want this addiction to be out of my hair (meaning buying any form of pill whether it's opiates or suboxone) as quickly as possible.

I am going through the treatment wrigth now and it's absolutley great. I am at 18mg of Suboxone a day. I was addicted to pain killers for a good 2 years. If any one of you have any questions I can really answer them. It got to the point that I want to work for addiction clinic that I am going too even as a volunteer (I work at hospital).
I don't know where I will be if somebody wouldn't tell me about this treatment. As I said, I was going through hell and every day was so difficult for me. Especially when you have to go to work and take care of your family.

Suboxone is a God-Send!! Let me repeat that one more time, Suboxone is a God-Send!!!! I have been an opiate addict for over 10 years and I just turned 30! i spent the first few years taking candy (tabs, vikes, percs, morphine, oxy's) than started on the good stuff (h and methadone) Methadone was by far my favorite but nearly impossible to kick! Went to m-done clinic for nearly 5 years, started at 30 than got all the way up to 124 a day! It took me nearly 2 years to move down to a reasonable amount (30-40 mgs)! I was so sick of taking the pink potion that I switched to suboxone! Now don't get me wrong, it took me about 4-6 months to get used to the sub's, but when they finally started working I could tell a huge difference! It taught me how to get back to life w/o being high as a kite all the time! I recently kicked the sub's after a lil more than a year! I tapered myself down to almost nothing before i went cold turk! It really only took about 3 days before i could start moving around and getting back to my normal life! Now I am 17 days into and I feel so much better! I'm nowhere near 100%, fatigued like a b***h and not much motivation but it does get better everyday! And I owe all of this to suboxone, obv it is no miracle cure, there is no such thing for us addicts but i will repeat myself that it gets you used to not being high all the time! Anyone who says they get high from suboxone is a total opiate novice! It does not get you high one bit!
I cursed sub's for the first 4-6 months I was on them, i complained to my opiate loving friends that they were junk and I hated them from the taste to the way they made me feel. I missed methadone so much b/c it got me so high and everything I had done for the past 5 years revolved around methadone! But the sub's really do work, i ended up getting used to them and would tell those same friends how glad i was that i was finally off the m-dones! Kicking the juice is going to be hard regardless the situation, i have graduated college from a top school and that was cake compared to kicking the juice! This one line that a suboxone lady has stuck with me more than anything, she said "the methadone saves your life, and the suboxone gives you your life back" Truer words were never spoken. Just give it a chance to work, it may take a lil time getting used to, but it gets you ready to get back into life!

GREAT POST. I did the same thing. I was addicted to opiates, went through a hellish withdrawal then relapsed. I kept getting off and relapsing because the way I tried quitting was wrong. FINALLY I LEARNED ABOUT SUBOXONE - A MIRACLE FOR ADDICTS.
The thing is doctors are crooked and they tell you that you need to be kept on it but in truth you only need it for 2 weeks MAX
One week to cure the physical withdrawal while the opiates are getting out of the system
A second week while you get used to sobriety (Get through mental withdrawal)
Also like the main dude said, Lessen your dose ONLY IN THE SECOND WEEK. Take a continuous amount the first week then slowly cut your dose, my suggestion would be 4 mg less every 2 days, not every day. After this you will have no withdrawal symptoms.
EVEN IF YOU FEEL LIKE THIS WONT WORK FOR YOU, JUST TRY IT. DOCTORS JUST WANT YOU TO KEEP COMING BACK IN THAT'S WHY THEY SAY IT TAKES LONGER THAN 2 WEEKS!!! IT's BS. 2 WEEKS of SUBOXONE IS ALL U NEED TO QUIT OPIATES WITHOUT WITHDRAWALS!

It's sounds like that Dr. was your worst enemy not suboxone. Sounds like he wouldn't taper you because that would cut into his profits.
I've had about four suboxone /methadone doctors. Each of them always adjusted my script as I asked. Up or down. Of course we always discussed my decision but it was always my decision. (There is a cap of course to how high my does can be) OH Canada.
I'm sorry that you have this doctor to contend with on top of everything else. I hope you can find another doctor.
I'm currently on 1mg of suboxone a day and it is tricky to get lower than that for me, but I'll keep trying.

So just to clarify. I'm currently taking 1.mg of Suboxone a day. I have been stabilized at that dose for over a year. (1/2 a 2 mg. pill daily)
should I cut my 2mg. into 8? It just seems like maybe I should 1/4 (quarter) them first that way I would be taking 1/5 a mg. a day for a while and the eventually a few months later cut that dose in half again?
Thanks for your thoughts.

I was addicted to Roxys for a couple of years, doing like 8 30mg a day. I got Subs a few months ago, but for a while I was bouncing back and forth between them and Roxys, unable to really quit 100%.
Now I've committed to quitting, I took Subs for like.. only a week so far. Even at the very start all I needed was 1/4 of a pill per day. Now, it's been 3 days since I had any. I felt kinda crappy last night and didn't really sleep, but today I'm feeling better. Not 100%, but pretty good I think.
